The trip to Harper Rock from Chicago was pretty a nightmare. My car broke down just before the border and I ended up having to leave it where it lay. So it's gone. It'll get impounded and God only knows when I will manage to scrape together the funds to get it out of the impound lot. With the travel expenses to go get it it'll likely be worth just nutting up and getting a new one. So that sucked the big one.

I used the last of my cash to get on a Greyhound bus. That is another awesome experience I wouldn't recommend to my worse enemies. The people were okay, except that one dude who kept staring at everyone and scratching himself. He was creepy on a massive scale. Had one of those comb over and beard things going on. Lumberjack haircut or whatever. Hair looked greasy though and unwashed, God only knows how long he'd been on a bus since he'd taken a shower. His beard was thick but ratty looking. Creepy looking guy. Could smell the bathroom halfway down the aisle where I was sitting too. Couple times these two younger college kids went back there together. Cause, you know, they weren't ******* or anything. I'm not a hater but man, that sucked. Chick was hot and I've been on a dry spell lately with the girls so I guess I was a little jealous of the guy. At the same time I felt bad for the chick cause they were in and out pretty quickly.

I finally reached the city though and to be honest, the area is ******* beautiful. Huge expanses of wilderness surround the sleepy city in every direction, cut in half by a river that flows right through the place separating it into north and south. It's hard to imagine that this place is the home of the troubles it's rumored to be but I guess I'll find out soon enough.

I'm a paranormal investigator. That's what I do. I get into places where things that go bump in the night wouldn't want me to get into and I snoop. On occasion things also tend to fall into my pockets while I'm snooping. It happens right? I guess I'm just lucky that way. With all the UFO sightings and reports of ghosts and missing people, the rate of anemia among the populace and reports of even stranger things like infected people who look like zombies a la the Walking Dead, how could I resist checking it out. Not like I was doing much of anything else really, rent had come due and I didn't have it so I figured I'd take what I did have and head hear where I might at least get enough material to write a book. Maybe even get to footage of some weird ****, you know?

I've already started looking around a little, but haven't gotten into full swing. First things on the old to-do list are: Make some money, get a place to stay, find a pawnshop that doesn't ask too many questions, get another ride and then make some friends within the local population. After that I want to see if there is a way into the quarantined area of the city. I heard it's locked down by the military so that's going to be more difficult perhaps than what I can handle at the moment. Still, there's gotta be a way in right? I figure I'll look around, ask around, maybe one of the locals will know.

Anyway, I'm overdue a shower. One of the old guys I met on the bus gave me twenty bucks when I told him my story so I figure there's gotta be either a shelter or a rest stop in the area where I can pay to use the facilities and maybe get something to eat. I'm starved! Will write more if and when I make some headway!
