The Mouth Of Madness

Post by Elizabeth »

Elizabeth: It was dark here. So very dark. Elizabeth had no idea why it was dark either. Reynold had asked her to stay here, but this was not the here she was thinking about or had forseen. What a cruel fate, to be trapped within the dark for what seemed like, already an eternity, when it was probably only but a few nights. In fact, where had he gone? After Reynold had asked her to stay and she decided to stay, he simply vanished. At random moments a thought would enter her head, one not of her own and while it seemed familiar, the woman mostly ignored it. She had to find Reynold and decline his invitation to stay here.

Shamus: It had been days since he had changed his clothes. His mood always fell when she was not there, but that was just the first to come. Shamus had attempted to talk with Elizabeth since she left, but it never comes out right. He cannot say the things he needs to say and she responds accordingly. He brought a hand through his hair, but it caught upon the disheveled tangles and ripped out a knot. Bringing his hand to his face to look through the mass of torn hair, he could not see anything. The room felt haunted. He could hear the sound of rain, but was not sure if it was there or here. He had told her he would drown, he was beginning to believe it. The world was to ruin and he would follow.

Elizabeth: And so, she began her search for Reynold in the vast abyss of emptiness, attempting to speak his name, but failing to do so.Not only was it dark, but it was oddly quiet as well. Speaking in a place like this would echo, maybe. It seemed to be a place of never ending darkness. Maybe she was in a cave. No, that wasn't accurate. Caves had a potential variety of things. Water in some form usually trickling from somewhere within, but still...she heard nothing. Finally, Elizabeth resided to the idea of if she wanted to find the man, she would have to speak out and alert others to where she was at. "Reynold?!" Her tone was filled with undertones of resentment and apprehension as the woman stopped and waited for his reply, or appearance before her.

Shamus: His eyes eventually fell to his knife. It started to seem so simple. He could meet her and not have to wait. A small grin began to take hold of his features. All he had to do was use the knife and he could see her again. The more he looked at the knife, the more it made sense. Shamus fell to the point where he raised the knife into the air, before he broke. Dropping the knife on the floor, he curled into a ball. This was not what Elizabeth would want, he told himself. She would come shortly. With a start, he jumped to his feet. He could swear he heard something. Nothing was around, there was nothing to see. He fell to the floor with his head crashing on to his knees. Would he ever hear her again? His mind began to wander as it always did, in search of her comfort, her presence, her mind.

Elizabeth: What met the woman was more silence as she waited for his reply. Frustrated, the woman kept walking, and talking at the top of her lungs as she progressed onwards. "This is not what you promised me!" Elizabeth began to realize now, that Reynold had tricked her. But for what reason? Was it some ploy to keep her distracted while his bloodline made a move against her own? The very thought sickened her, and made Elizabeth worry for the safety of those within her bloodline. Antigony-she was such a fragile woman-more fragile than when Elizabeth had been sired. Isabella...why she wasn't much older than Elizabeth in terms of vampire years, though Elizabeth had lived longer than her sire had, and as for the grand master himself? Well, she could only hope that an ill-fate befell upon him.Her own thoughts were halted when she felt something. A presence. Elizabeth abruptly turned left and then right and saw...nothing. "HELLO?"

Shamus: His throat felt like it was closing. His eyes opened wide as he began to claw at his throat. Blood began to fall as he tore into it. For whatever reason, he could not breathe. He had to get his throat open, if he could not he would die. Blood began to pour down his throat, he couldn't breathe. He stopped clawing at his throat as a realization dawned upon him, he was going to drown. There was nothing he could do, but drown on his own blood. Shamus felt somewhat at ease, it would be easy. There would be nothing to fear, he would be enveloped by the darkness. It was already pressing into his mind. The eternal shadow that watched over him, that kept him from harm. He would find warmth in that cold embrace. A smile touched his lips, it would not be much longer. As his mind began to long for the darkness, a light flickered. A small light that sent a ripple through the darkness. At first, Shamus faltered, not sure what to expect from this. As the ripples began to die, the light remained ever present as the darkness. A sound echoed from within and he pulled away. What it could be, he didn't know and it scared him. He stared into the light, trying to think of a way to reason with it so it would leave him be. He trembled in fear as it did not die away. Would this light haunt him forever more? If only she was here, she would protect him. With his longing, the light seemed to grow. With a shaky gargle of a voice he spoke, "Tulip..."

Elizabeth: Finally, a reply, but not in a form Elizabeth had expected. It was a flower that was said. She knew of the flower and the voice...she knew that voice as well. It was not his voice though. Not the great deceiver's voice. It was...the other his, voice. Yes, it was Shamus' voice. "Impossible." She whispered before turning around to see him there. Elizabeth did not understand what was going on. Shamus, from what she remembered was not anywhere near as old as she was in terms of vampire years. How can Reynold and Shamus live side by side? "You." She said quietly, still focused on finding Reynold. "You are here to help me." She concluded. Maybe this was a dream. Yes, this had to be a dream. Sometimes she was in his and he in hers, so this most certainly was that. "We have to find that treacherous liar." Elizabeth spat out with such clear disdain that her tone was harsh, clear and concise.
Why are you taking me through troubled waters, I asked? Because your enemies cannot swim, he replied.

Shamus: He tilted his head to the side, staring at her. How was it that she was here and had been here? It did not make sense, there was no possibility... He stood and stared at her or what he assumed was her. Blood still ran freely down himself and his throat, but he found he was no longer concerned with such mundane things as drowning. A quirk of a grin took hold of his features, though it held to only one side. He understood what it meant. He was the one that would never die, it was impossible for him to. How many times had others tried and failed to succeed? He began to bark with laughter, she made it all clear. There was nothing that was impossible. He stared into her eyes, "Aye..." She was distraught, that much was easy to see. He would have to be strong, he had to be for her, "Well I not be in much of a state of dress for tha ordeal. But I believe that exceptions can be made from time ta time." He rolled his head around in a few circles, stretching out his neck, "Now, we need ta find tha poor bloke?" He tilted his head off to the side and scratched at his chin, "Ya be of mind ta make him suffer all tha
more?"

Elizabeth: At the mention of him not being dressed accordingly for such an excursion, Elizabeth looked down at what she was wearing and then recoiled in utter terror. "What is this?" She hissed out, when she saw nothing but darkness in the place in which she stood. "But-where are my clothes?" It had not dawned on her yet that she had no legs-Elizabeth assumed she was just shrouded within darkness and was unable to see her legs. "I think we are destined to fail. There is darkness surrounding everything. From within the space we wander, to our very own bodies." She whispered at the end.

Shamus: He scratched at his chin a bit. Before she had brought up the question that he had not even considered. Where were her clothes? He shrugged his shoulders with a bit of a shrug, clothes were not that important. He began to chuckle a bit, thinking about it, "Ah, Tulip..." He stepped forward towards her, smiling some, "Darkness be not tha enemy, Tulip. Nor it be a sign of failure. Darkness be a sign of change." He pointed off into the distance, "Do ya see what I mean? Tha shades of gray that be. It will eventually turn. For within tha dark there be tha light. It not be until we walk through tha shadows that we can embrace it."

Elizabeth: "A sign of change?" Elizabeth inquired, before shaking her head. "It cannot be a change of something good." She concluded with a slightly defeated tone in her voice. "You only like the darkness because those like you were born of it." She accused him with a subtle laugh before moving north. "I feel as if I have been here forever. He asked me to stay and then...here we are. Or here I am." She moved to the east then. "I have not seen anyone until you." Her gaze hardened as she looked around. "Not even a glimmer that he is here in the place he wanted us to stay at. He most certainly needs to die for his ruse. Not so clever, might I add. I had it figured out from the get go.

Shamus: He bobbed his head to her. She was right, he always felt at home within the darkness. He cackled a bit to himself and followed after her, not knowing which direction they were headed, "Isn't he already dead? I thought ya had him as a wraith for some time." He rolled his shoulders in a bit of a shrug. Is it possible to die after death? He tilted his head back and forth entertaining the idea for a few moments, "Oh well, it not be of matter. Ta die after death that be. It might be interestin'..." He grinned as his body began to melt away into shadows and bumped into her, "So what kind of change are we lookin' inta? Somethin' fun, I do hope."

Elizabeth: Elizabeth stopped when Shamus said something about a wraith. "Well..."Elizabeth started speaking, not positive on her train of thoughts now. If he said it, she knew it had to be true. But before she could draw her own conclusions, he said it didn't matter and was on about someone dying again. "Stop that!" Elizabeth snapped as she felt what she would compare as electricity bump into her from him. "Well, first thing is first, we must find our way out. Or kill him. No order matters, I suppose as long both get accomplished." Her spirits were high again at the belief they would in fact accomplish both desires "And then, the fun shall begin. If it has not already."

Shamus: Once more he began to bark with laughter. The joys of being a shadow. He was able to enjoy them with her. Not only was he there for her with adapting to the ways of the telepath. Life is good or death, either way, "It be soundin' like a grand adventure, Tulip. I say we go and look for tha light first thing. That way ya can be like Lieutenant Dan." He cackled, loudly and bumped into her once more.

Elizabeth: To the light it would be. Elizabeth preferred the light over the dark and so, there would be no argument or second thoughts from her. "Lieutenant who?" She inquired before she was bumped once again, and this time, she returned the bump with beady, narrowed eyes. "Mayhaps, you are working with him. Mayhaps this is a trick of sorts." She wondered if it was in fact even her husband at this point. When did he know a lieutenant Dan? "Where did you meet this Dan, individual?" She turned her head to face him as she kept walking.

Shamus: He was about to question her on how she did not know Lieutenant Dan, when the thought occurred to him that she may have seen the classic film just yet. He shook his head with a bit of a laugh, "Oi... Let me see if tha connection work good in here. It always be on Netflix." He began to filter through the movies, looking to see if he could possibly find it, "By tha way, ya might try ta remember that tha bloke did try ta off me when he was still a wraith. And now that I think about it, I seem ta have a problem with other people tryin' ta kill me. Ya think I be a special person or somethin'." He rolled his shoulders with a bit of a shrug and kept moving in pace with her.

Elizabeth:"I do not have time for movies, Shamus." Elizabeth sighed, turned and looked at her husband. "We have t find the light so we can-" Well, apparently he was already dead, so the most she could do was banish him. "Well, perhaps he has returned here. Mayhaps someone was tired of his big mouth and sent him here." She concluded that as a very viable option, because Reynold had a very pompous air to him. "And who is trying to kill thee now?" She frowned, and had not moved yet as she waited to hear of his troubles.
