UPDATE: Jobs System

Post by Mooncalf »

This is a system for those with skillsets which are primarily usually used as support. Crafters, trackers, pickpockets and ritualists also have no raids available to them, and so these jobs are being added to give these characters a way to supplement their exp gain.**

The jobs system works a little like raids in that the tasks are only available for a limited time, or until somebody else beats you to it. Roughly 8 jobs will be listed at any one time, spread out over the 3 categories, and if one job gets completed (or the time runs out on a job) then it is swapped out at random hour changes (one every 2 hours on average). It costs 2 energy to complete any of these jobs, and you must have internet access in game to access the list.

Please also keep in mind that you cannot use items other people have found or crafted to complete these tasks. All the items you trade in for exp will be items YOUR character has crafted or found. Any items bought at auction will similarly be of no use in the jobs system.

As far as the categories go (listed on the tabs), "crafting" is for weapon and trap and jewelry crafters (required weapon names will be randomised each time), "looting" is for characters with high tracking skill (who find better loot) or those with good pickpocketing stats, and "hunting" is primarily for characters such as ritualists, who can find specific enemies quickly (though fighters and trackers are welcome to try, if they want to mix things up a bit). Where the latter is concerned, the loot required is always the most commonly found item when you slay a certain rare enemy (who spawns all over the city, and not just in one location).

There are so many factors to consider with the exp rewards in this system, such as how hard the items are to find, how much energy it costs to find or craft them on average, and how much experience points the character will have already got on their quest to find or craft the items (from crafting and fighting enemies). As such the balancing here is going to be tricky, but as they are rare jobs that aren't always available it doesn't matter quite as much as it would if we were balancing a skillset or enemy kills per energy point.

After we've made sure the balance is okay, we'll add more jobs.

** Business owners and speechcraft characters will eventually have similar things in place to help them gain exp, as they don't have raids either. We may also add jobs for hackers and B&E people eventually, but they won't be quite as rewarding, as those character have raids available to them, which give good exp payouts. Pure fighter characters won't have jobs available to them, as they already get the best exp rates per energy point.
