What's Blood among Thieves?

What the hell am I doing here? Tay kept asking himself each time he takes a drink from the cup he’s baby-sitting. This wasn’t his sort of place, at all. Tayden liked going out, but usually it was to cafe’s, or upscale bars and night clubs. Not some dive bar that hadn’t gotten an uplift in at least a decade. The walls smell of cheap, musky cigarettes and a slight stench of mold. Probably asbestos Tay thought to himself as he stared at the bar’s wooden surface that needed a good polish. And we’re all in here, killing ourselves. Either our livers or our lungs.

A high shrill, laugh to the right of him draws Tayden’s attention back to the here and now and not his own private thoughts. He glances over to the stunning redhead that is more or less his girlfriend, and blood donor as she’s laughing about some joke that he missed out on and probably wouldn’t have found very funny anyways. Anika had an easy sense of humor about her, where with Tayden, people had to work to get him to crack a smile at some joke or pun.

“Isn’t that the funniest thing you’ve heard in awhile, sweetie?” Anika knows he’s lost deep in his own thoughts, Tayden usually is when they’re out club hopping. She’s either looking for a bite to eat, or the company Tayden can’t completely provide. She likes him well enough, and he her, but Tayden knows she’s not the one he’s going to settle down with and that something better, probably a vampire will catch Anika’s eyes one night. When they met, they were just two people trying to survive in this crazy world, but they’ve been surviving just fine for a while now. Now, what did they have to cling together to? Not a lot.

“No. Sorry. I’m not feeling good. Be right back” Tayden flashed the couple to her side a grin before getting up and pushing the glass in towards the inside of the bar before he went to the bathroom to get a break. A break from the smells, a break from the high pitched laughing and all the muffled sounds of words that droned together as he sat at the bar, being nothing more than a typical bar fly.

He looks at his reflection in the cheap mirror that has a few rust stains on two of the four corners, before activating the water tap with a swish of his hand beneath the tap. Tayden collects some water in his palms and splashes it over his face. He sighs and thinks of his sister. She’s running the shop tonight, The Pen and The Sword. He still was a little uncomfortable with leaving her alone, after recently finding her, but Anika insisted he come out with her. Tayden wondered if she wasn’t just a little bit jealous of their relationship. Of their closeness. He couldn’t and wouldn’t blame her. Anika was a tragic case. Some vampire turned by some guy she never really knew or got a good look of his face and then left to fend for herself after the first night. “Prick.” Tayden muttered as he grabbed some paper towel from a thin metal container on the wall, blotted his face and then tossed it in a small, plastic black trash can under one of the sinks.

Tayden rather liked vampires as a whole, but he knew that like people, there were some less than desireable vampires. In this case, Anika’s sire was one of those less than desirables. He’d feel the same way if someone abandoned a kid they had, or a dog they bought and decided they didn’t want anymore for whatever lame reason. After a couple deep breaths in and out, Tayden left the dirty, dingy, two stall bathroom and headed back inside the main atmosphere. Nothing seemed to change, other than more people crowding around Anika. Tayden was used to that. She was a real nice girl, and easy on the eyes, and something about her just seemed more alluring than any other woman in the dive bar. Not that she would have had any real contenders; most of the patrons in here were men in their mid thirties to early fifties. A few women, but nothing special about them.

A song from the nineties came on and Anika was jumping up and down saying how much she loved this song from some boy band Tayden can’t remember the name of, or personally didn’t care. She was in front of him in a matter of seconds and attempting to slow dance with him right in the middle of the bar, next to some foosball table and a card table, both of which, were being utilized. Awkward for him, but Anika seemed oblivious, or just didn’t care.

The Blood Thief had a wad of green dollars in his coat pocket. He had checked his small business he was running - it was amazing what kind of good luck you could get when you move to this sorta place. When he first got here, there was nothing here for him. He was a bum, broke on his *** and sleeping on a park bench. How much time had passed since he was here and how much things had changed for him.

He managed to pay off his debt by taking up a janitor's job in a hotel. It wasn’t much hours for the man, but it paid the bills he managed to get his own apartment. It was a run down cardboard box like apartment, but it was home, didn’t have much a coach with cigarette burns on it - it stank of piss and smoke, but there was a small television in the corner of the room. The fridge fully stocked up with milk, and booze. You always needed booze.

He had earned enough money to invest in a small casino. It was a run down little corner shop like business - but he managed to get his foot in the door, he built it up though. It brought in more money and he was able to pay off all remaining debts he owed. Which, for Levi was a freaking good thing for him.

Tonight though, he was testing the waters for the club scenes. The man was an alcoholic, and he had already downed himself a bottle of vodka, the usual for the blood thief. Pushing his way inside the club - the sound of the beating music filled his eardrums. He steered his way to the bar, barely noticing the woman giving the other fellow a lap dance.

There are some hoots, claps and other sounds tossed in the direction of Tayden and Anika as he stands there and lets her do her thing. Anika is easy on the eyes and a crowd pleaser so with each positive response from any bar flies, she moves on and around Tayden, really putting on a show. His cheeks start to splatter pink as she really gets into it now, using Tayden as if he were some pole anyone would find in some strip club in the slightly shadier part of town than the one they are currently in.

A crowd starts to form and Tayden’s about done. “ I think I’m going to be sick.” He tells Anika with an apologetic smile before he heads off to the bar to get some water. Tayden reclaims his seat, which was next to an empty seat that his girl was at, but was now occupied by an old guy. “Hey.” Tayden says as he flashes two digits at the tender, implying he wants two more of what he had been drinking on top of the water, and puts a twenty on the bar. Anika is still dancing, using anything she can to keep the good times rolling-even if she lost her wing man for the time being.

While this is going on, Tayden fails to notice a familiar face in the crowd. Someone he’s been warned about, and has only seen in person twice. Maybe three times. But then again, Tayden has no reason to keep an eye out for the guy-he has no personal beef with him, even if the other blood thief had a really bad reputation on the streets; both with vampires and humans alike.

He’s drinking a whiskey with no ice at this point, the glass in his hands as he brings the rim of the rather large looking glass (he specifically asked for this glass.) to his lips and took a rather large swig. He turns his hues over to the young fella’ that seems to have slipped into his right, he’s asking for water, before he could hear anymore he grabs his whiskey and heads over to an empty seat watching some woman, who was real pretty, dance. He sits there, legs slightly parted watching her with a smile on his face every now and again would he raise the glass to his lips taking another swing.

He fishes around his in pocket for his wad of dollars and offers a $10 one to the woman, he throws her a wink. For an old guy, this comes across as odd but Levi has always been odd ball, he’s an alcoholic - a gambling addict, now he was known for paying for sex most night too. Perhaps he was trying to get this woman in bed, he liked the way she moved her hips. It was erotic.

“Do you accept notes, ‘ove?” He asked her with a cruel smile.

< Tayden > Tayden misses the interaction with Anika and some old guy, as the bartender scrounges up some water for Tayden. “No more after this, I’m cutting you off man.” The tender gives Tayden a stern, stink eye as he gives him the two drinks and takes the twenty. “Keep the change,” Tayden mumbles as he hangs his head above the water glass.

”Maybe. But that isn’t going to cover ten minutes with you, let alone ten seconds.” Anika met the old man’s cruel smile with her own, still dancing away, though her interest was on the guy for now. “I have a boyfriend. That I’m here with.” She pointed to Tayden at the bar casually, her hips swaying back and forth in front of the old guy as she takes the ten and stuffs it down her top, nestling it between her bra and her skin. “You have anything better to offer? Anything more?” She placed both hands on Levi’s legs and stared him right in the eyes, her tongue dancing over her lower lip before some guy came by and grabbed her right butt cheek. Anika hissed, turned and slapped the guy hard in his chest, attempting to shove him away.

”I’ve got something more to offer you.” The guy croaked as he rubbed against Anika’s body. ”Gross. I wouldn’t do anything with you, even if you covered that ugly mug with a paper bag.” Anika gave the guy a shove, who in returned shoved her right into Levi’s lap.

He found himself laughing, it was worth a shot right? He did enjoy the act of a man and a woman becoming one, he didn't get it often - and when he did, despite how pretty the woman was he usually found himself thinking about Savannah. Those beautiful doe eyes, oh yes. Despite the fact that he had left her all those years ago, he was still head over heels for the woman, feelings like that never went away, not really.

“No ‘ard feelings ‘ove” He lifted his own hands in defence, in a white flag kind of stance. Despite the woman played an evil smirk upon her lips he could appreciate her honesty. Looking down at himself in his white shirt and grey trousers he found himself looking quite smart looking. Considering he came straight from his little gambling shack -- illegal of course.

Raising the rim of his glass to his lips he took a swig, the alcohol being tipped over him a second later and staining his white shirt when the woman fell into his lap. He blinked and looked the woman over, then to the man who had shoved her.

Levi pushed her to the side and gently. Standing up and placing the glass against the table, and threw a punch in the man’s direction. “Don't sh’ve a lady ‘sshole”

< Tayden > The commotion caught his attention and Tayden turned, expecting to see anything other than what he saw right then and there. His girl was in some old guy’s lap, but it seemed she didn’t place herself in it.

In a flash he was off his barstool as the commotion kept on. Anika spat out a few words to the guy that pushed her into the older guy’s lap, he replied with a retort Tayden couldn’t make out and she lunged at him. And then **** rolled downhill from there. Tayden watched as the guy twisted Anika’s arm, had her pinned with her back to his chest and he sunk his blood thief fangs right into her. “Hey!” Tayden shouted from across the bar as he moved to Anika. It was like everything was moving in slow motion, no matter how fast he wanted to get there.

<L E V I>
Levi hadn’t noticed how cold her skin was in that moment she had fallen upon his lap. He hadn’t noticed she had a set of her own petite looking fangs as he found himself blinking at her as the fight broke out worse, Levi wasn’t the fittest horse on the race track anymore - despite the fact he did seem stronger than most men his age and it wasn’t the fact that it came down to him being a blood thief either, nu huh.

Levi was knocked to the table, his head colliding with the glass as a shard embedded itself into his temple, it wasn’t deep enough to do any real damage but it knocked him out of the fight for sure - he was too busy grappling with the shards of glass in his head to worry about the fact that the male was drinking from the woman, Anika?

The other male, the one who was at the bar was on the scene then - shoving the male away from the woman. Was it too late though?

Levi was slowly getting up then - a little woozy, but it didn’t stop him from grabbing the blood thief who was originally feeding on the woman and knocking him senseless with his fist, over and over until someone was forcing him off the limp body of an unconscious man.

“‘emme at ‘im” He was huffing, struggling in a man’s grasp.

< Tayden > The dimension of the room changed completely in that moment. While most people disliked the blood thief with the shady reputation, not everyone felt the same way. Tayden could feel it in the air around him as he proceeded to Anika who was now on her hands and knees, one hand at her neck, the other bracing herself on the floor, as she expected another attack from the guy.

“Woah!” Tayden said as he saw what the old guy had done, once he got to Anika and where the scum bag blood thief had been. “No. You should probably get out of here.” Tayden suggested as he saw a few people stand up, their gazes fixed hard on the trio. “Maybe, we all should.” He said as he moved over to Anika, grabbed an arm and yanked her up. “Come on.” He said, as he attempted to lead her to the door, but was met with a tiny blockade of two men and a woman. All of which he knew. ”Going somewhere with your friend?” The brunette asked behind the muscles in front of her.

<L E V I>
Hands loosened on him as he calmed down a little, blood trickling down his forehead into his eyes, creating a trail around the curve where his eyelids met the ball of his eye. The man at the bar was over the woman and helping her up as he rubbed the blood away from his right eye, he spoke to him telling him he should go - then suggested that they all go, Levi couldn't help but agree. He was a trouble starter, this was how it went in his past when he was with Savannah he would throw a few punches and come back with a cracked rib or two. He gave as good as he got, she hated that about him.

He follows behind the man, and his woman rolling up the sleeves of his bloodied white shirt as he did when he bumped into the man's back - not paying attention to where he was going, only to find there was a blockade in their way.

This woman had to be really something if they were getting so much attention, or maybe this man had a reputation. Levi slipped in front of the man, holding onto his girlfriend for support. “I'm sure we can resolve this, how much would it cost for this night to be forgotten?” He asked, slipping his hand into his pocket looking for that was of green cash.

< Tayden > The woman behind the men laughed and then moved so that she was now in front of them. She wanted them to know that she was in charge of the muscle now behind her, before she started talking. “How about your life, old man?” The woman planted both her hands on her hips before she glanced at the trio that were trying to get out around them. “Or we’ll take your vampire friend there.” She lifted her right hand from her waist and made a signal to move forward and get the vampire.

“Don’t think so. She’s here with me.” Tayden moved in front of Anika, who moved around him, unscathed by the earlier assault, even if she was still bleeding from the puncture wounds left by the guy Levi beat the crap outta seconds ago. One of the guys grabbed Anika on her shoulder, the other at her waist and attempted to move her towards their little grouping. “No, don’t!” And suddenly, Tayden moved into action, as Anika used him for her own personal bidding (not that he would have hesitated or minded), Tayden releasing an assault of punches on the guy who touched his girl’s hip. Each punch connected, but Tayden’s brute strength was nothing compared to that of a vampire and their endurance or ability to take punches were a lot better than he remembered. Which meant, they trained and trained hard.

From the right, a sudden searing pain jolted Tayden away from the one muscle thug and to the other, who had revealed some wolverine type x-men crap from his fingers, which now had shreds of his shirt and flesh in those wolverine claws.Tayden groaned and clenched his teeth together as he started to breath and push past the pain he was feeling, but he wasn’t doing a very good job of it.

<L E V I>
”My life is my life, it means nothing to much of anyo’e.” Levi found himself shrugging her own shoulders as he thought about it some - he really was trying to get the man behind him and his vampire woman out of a bind here - something that could get nasty really quickly.
