Re: Canon Q&A With David
So anyone looking through a normal SLR or a DSLR camera would see the vampire missing right?Azraeth wrote:
Yes. Cameras, film, etc all have the ability to capture a vampire's appearance. The only time that a vampire would seem invisible is in a mirror. Similarly, a vampire would show up in other reflective surfaces, like still water etc. In a mirror, even a vampire's clothing will be invisible.

This is why I ask.

Thanks! I appreciate the support. <3
I didn't say that all vampires have to.I would question why Vampires have to drink the stuff, RP wise, directly at the shop.
However, I'm not always the best at explaining things, so let me detail what I mean.
I am not making a blanket statement, but rather an observation based on the following:
1) Not all vampires feed from blood packs. It's not something they are naturally inclined to do. Blood outside of a body is not the same as blood from a living, breathing creature.
2) Blood outside of the body begins to clot, or/and spoil. While it can be refrigerated and maintained, that requires equipment and at least a proper storage container.
3) Some vampires would be unable to stop themselves from feeding immediately after the blood is present.
4) Transporting blood on the vampire's person after the increase in cops and government agents (per the past two chapter consequences), would be difficult. Impractical, but not impossible.
By no means was I saying that vampires can't load up on blood and stock it at home. I am just saying that, on the whole, the 'poison the water supply' RP would need a lot of work if you wanted it to be functional, or make a big impact.
But I'm not trying to discourage at all! I would love more impact threads. I'd even be down to participate. I just want the experience to be as good of one as possible, so I'm offering up my perspective.
I didn't say that. The shops would have to have some form of storage in order to stock the blood bags in the first place, so if you want to talk logic, why are we even saying that it's not possible to store blood bags beyond the store?
Shops are not market places, they're more like 'underground' black market organizations. Hence the illegal sale of firearms, and other materials that would, in no way ever, be sold at a 'regular' shop or store. It's not exactly a Pro-Masquerade move either. Feeding from a Blood Bag in full view of Humans

Good question!
I'm going to go with no, because a vampire's invisibility in a mirror is mystical, and specific to common mirrors. I. E. Traditional mirrors like you might find on a wall, a hand mirror, etc. It doesn't really extend to things like cameras, even if they have a mirror inside of them.

Re: Canon Q&A With David
Doesn't the curse apply to reflections, and not just mirrors? The wiki's references to vampire path curses almost exclusively refer reflections, either the lack of one, or the appearance of something else.
Though it is also canon that vampires can be caught on video cameras; there doesn't seem to be evidence of any distinction of what mechanism the video camera uses.
So... confusing. Though I don't see a problem with that not making so much sense in-canon. Perhaps the curse was meant as a way for vampires to be spotted by mortals; allowing mortals to see them on video/photographs could be part of that curse.

Also I am quite sure that one of those 'investigate' events you can find on grid has a vampire NOT having a reflection as they pass a window ( a reflective surface that isn't a mirror).... am I mistaken?

Re: Canon Q&A With David
My apologies for misunderstanding you the first time around, and thank you again for taking the time to explain. I honestly do appreciate it, even if it doesn’t sound like I do.
It really helps to have as much information as possible in order to plan an Impact Thread of this kind of magnitude. You can be sure that I will do a lot of research. XD
My research into this might require me to ask more questions about cannon… so… sorry about that in advance!
I guess the only questions still outstanding is, where does the blood supply come from for the Blood Bags?

Re: Canon Q&A With David
There may one day be a mastery power that allows a vampire to enthrall sorcs or blood thieves, but Paladins are specifically all about domination over vampires, so it's unlikely that's ever going to happen.Roderic wrote: But yet a pathed class can enthrall a vampire. Who supposedly has higher wp yet. That seems unfair/unlikely. How did that happen/was made possible?
For now, I think the best route is to completely remove supernaturally classed humans as possible thralls until/unless David releases a Mastery power that allows for it.
The logic behind vampire thralls is that blood thieves give attunement to a vampire's blood and paladins give the power its dominion over vampires. Vampire thralls are almost always unwilling, which is why, on the grid, they have very poor stats etc etc.
So it's not really about fairness/equality.
Hope that clears things up!
It doesn't come from one source, but from multiples. Most likely through less than legal means.Myk wrote:I guess the only questions still outstanding is, where does the blood supply come from for the Blood Bags?
My bad! I missunderstood, yeah. That's what I get for answering canon questions when tired. I was reading up on David's previous posting on the topic and misplaced a piece of punctuation.Alexandrea wrote:Also I am quite sure that one of those 'investigate' events you can find on grid has a vampire NOT having a reflection as they pass a window ( a reflective surface that isn't a mirror).... am I mistaken?
Anyway! The vampire curse does relate to reflection not just mirrors. Apologies for any confusion.
To re-answer the original question: If seen through a camera with a mirror, the vampire would not show up.
