The Fifth Planet [Jupiter]

Post by Nishaa »

Onyx hues looked around her as she made her way across the dark streets of Newborough. She needed to steal things for Tytonidae. Oil, Rare Chems - whatever she could get her hands on that Micah, or Velveteen would need. She prided herself on being on of the faction thieves. She was what they would call an expert at procuring things. Even that night in the Eyrie, when things got a little bit chaotic over a shard. The woman snorted at remembrance. She had been the one to told onto the shard for the longest - most people had a hard time stealing the shard from her, unless their name was Every or Reanna. Nishaa put that down to the fact that they knew her well enough - they knew how to get around her. The woman huffed and veered left.

Her hand snaked out, shattering the glass window of a factory building. She had scouted this building a few times in the past, the loot wasn’t the best but it had Oil - and other bits and bobs that she needed, sometimes the most standard of items were always the hardest to come by. Other thieves would beat her to the goodies - and it annoyed the hell out of the Necromancer. Peering inside, she pushed herself off the concrete floor and into the window of the building. She didn’t bother with a flashlight, she knew her way around the building well enough. Any guard she came across the knocked the ******** out with her knockout gas, every trusty thief should have one of those - before making her way to one of the many doors and false alarmed it. A trick she had done so often, she could possibly do it in her sleep.

Half an hour later she slipped out of the window she had originally smashed with a bag full of bounty. Wire reels, Oil and other odd things that she needed with a victorious smile on her lips. She found herself looking left to right, and then headed into the shadows, she needed to get away from the scene before any cops decided to wander upon the area and notice a window smashed in. She pulled out her phone from her bum pocket and typed a quick text to Micah that read

  • ’GOT STUFF 4 TRAPS OMW’

Pushing the phone back into her bum pocket she threw the bag over her shoulder, and grabbed her hair which was confined within a ponytail and let it free, she shook her head from side to side, tresses of raven caressed her cheeks as she began to head in the general direction of the Eyrie. She had nothing else that needed attending to tonight, she was sure.

Jupiter was a little bit like a cat. Upon being brought back to her new home, she didn’t jump on everyone and lick their faces like a dog might. Instead, Jupiter hung back, watched, sniffed around in the corners and the dark spaces, her eyes wides as she tried to get to know the ‘new family’ without talking to them. At first she’d been a bit more proactive; she’d texted Nesa only to discover she didn’t really have much in common with the girl. She was nice enough, but Jupiter didn’t feel like she could go out to pubs or clubs, or do anything too ‘adult’ with the woman who acted like a child.

In her meanderings of the Andras Crownet, Jupiter had come to the conclusion that each person seemed to have a specialty. Either they thieved, or they crafted, or they did rituals, or they killed. Jupiter didn’t have a specialty, not yet. She figured she’d stay with her previous occupation; she would focus on weaponry. But that didn’t mean she wasn’t curious about the other occupations as well.

So when she saw the woman – who looked kind of familiar, though Jupiter couldn’t say why or how – smash the window of the factory, she stood back and watched. She remained across the road beneath the trees, bathed by the shadows. She waited for twenty minutes. And then twenty five. She was almost about to slip away, thinking the woman had escaped through some window that Jupiter couldn’t see. But then, she came out the same window she’d disappeared into. Jupiter watched as she was distracted by her phone for a couple of seconds, before releasing her hair and heading in what Jupiter assumed was a random direction.

Jupiter followed, before she quickened her pace; she caught up, and then matched her pace beside the woman. She peered sideways at her.

”Do I know you? What did you take?” she asked. She didn’t beat around the bush. And like a cat suddenly comfortable with her surroundings, she had no trouble approaching this woman for companionship.

Nishaa hadn’t been alert as she thought she had been. She didn’t notice the woman following her. She was too busy thinking about Micah’s reaction to her stolen bounty. A smug smile played upon her lips. He would be proud of her. Nishaa prided herself on making the old man proud of her. Ever since her siring. Really. Nishaa adored the old man. He, she assumed adored her too. The amount of **** she got away with around him - made their bond that little bit more special.

The woman appeared beside her then. Matching her pace. One foot in front of the other. She was copying her movements stride for stride. Onyx hues peered to the side to look this woman over. She noticed the flowers she wore straight away and almost threw up. Ew. Flowers.

”I don’t know.” She told the woman, unsure if she knew the woman herself. There was a familiar feeling with her though. Nishaa couldn’t quite place it herself. Still she found herself looking at the woman with a curious stare. ”Do you?” She quirked up a brow and stopped in her tracks to look at this woman properly.

She asked what she had taken then. She found herself blinking. How did she?... The untrusting Necromancer switched arms now moving her bag of goodies on the shoulder -away- from the other vampire.

”None of your concern.” She told the woman. Leaning in close. She had no problem invading the space of another. ”I don’t even know your name.”

Jupiter leaned back just a little when the other woman got closer. Now, Jupiter realised she was made up of sharp edges. There was something well-defined about her which added an air of intimidation. A lack of greeting that had Jupiter wondering whether she should have approached in a different way. She was new to this life, fresh as a baby straight from the womb. Even a toddler didn’t know how to keep their balance, if she could be considered a little older than fresh. She had yet to completely learn that people – vampires specifically – were mistrusting. Always on their guard. Made of sharp edges because they were forced into attack or defence. Why was that?

Jupiter’s smile faltered, but it didn’t ease completely. She offered her hand to the other woman, her green eyes wide and curious.

”My name is Jupiter Roy,” she said. She canted her head to the side. Only now, it occurred to her. Was she still Jupiter Roy? Should she still claim ‘Roy’ as a surname if she was being asked to fake her death in order to give up her humanity? The human family that birthed her and raised her? Or could she keep it, this three letter word, in defiance against the things that she was being asked to do? The things that she didn’t want to do?

”Maybe I should have… y’know, approached in a different way. But y’see, I’m kind of trying to find my feet and lookin’ at my options and seein’ what you did back there, I kinda wondered if it’s something I’d like to do, too,” she said with a shrug. She wasn’t too sure she’d be cut out for breaking and entering. It wasn’t that she was clumsy, per se, but she was a fan of noise. Of loud music. Of grinding cogs. Of hammers and of boisterousness. She was too restless and impatient to break and enter. Her style would be to smash a window and royally mess a place up in a rush rather than to sneak and break locks and get out without disturbing anything.

But still. It was nice to get to know what the options might be.

Nishaa was a *****. Everyone who knew her, knew this. To people who didn’t know her she was very stand offish. She wasn’t the best person to get along with at the start. The woman beside her finally introduced herself and it made Nishaa’s edges towards the woman seemed smoother somewhat. Her guard was down. Now that the name had been given, and it was one she had heard. It was on the Crownet a lot. This woman was Andras, she knew that much. Velveteen’s youngest.

She stopped in her tracks, and nodded her head.

”Jupiter Roy, of Andras.” She knew it was true. Nishaa was quite active herself on the family Crownet. ”I’m Nishaa Andras.” There it was, Nishaa had done a complete introduction as she gave the woman a smile. It wasn’t the most friendliest, but it was better than her lips being set in a straight line. She blinked a few times, thick black eyelashes caressing the pale skin.

”You want to learn how to steal?” She found herself asking, looking curiously at the woman in front of her - with that odd fashion sense of hers. Onyx hues just stared. ”It’s not that hard, if you know what you're doing.” She brought her phone out of it’s hiding place and eyeballed the time. She had some. She inwardly sighed. ”I can help, I guess.”

Pulling her backpack from her bag she began to fish around in the gadgets. Pulling out spare knockouts, false alarms and noise makers. She shoved them at Jupiter. The woman wanted to try, the woman was going to learn. Or try.

”Come on twinkle toes.”

”Jupiter Roy, of Andras!” she said, nodding enthusiastically. She might have preferred to say Jupiter Roy of the Roys, but what would be the point? It was obvious that she was expected to be Andras, now. So she may as well try act like one. Claim to be one. It wasn’t a bad thing to claim. Jupiter canted her head to the side, wondering if she should start introducing herself as Jupiter Andras. ”…Andras,” she said, testing the word on her tongue – before she dismissed the thought and perked up.

Nishaa didn’t seem too enthusiastic about showing Jupiter how to thieve; Jupiter hadn’t asked to be taught. It was something that she could learn on her own, if she really wanted to. It was something that she wanted to watch – which was kind of what she had been doing to begin with. But watching from the outside versus watching from the inside – well, there was a huge difference.

Jupiter trotted along behind Nishaa.

”I just wanna see if it’s something that I might be able to do. I can try on my own, if you don’t feel like it,” Jupiter said. She had caught the glance at the phone. The strained I guess. Though, regardless of all Nishaa’s seeming reluctance, Jupiter was all too eager to follow. Why was she so eager to break the law? Maybe to add a little excitement to her life, as it was now. Maybe to follow in the footsteps of others. She cleared her throat.

”Would I find anything thieving that might help me with makin’ swords?” she asked. It was a hobby she had been tinkering with; something different from the guns she knew so much about. A well-rounded knowledge of weapons could be beneficial, right?

Nishaa encouraged enthusiasm, and sometimes there was just way too much enthusiasm. She looked the woman over in the corner of her. Jupiter Roy of Andras, that was her name. She nodded her head towards Roy. Yes, she was going to call her Roy. It sounded like a boys name, it made her inwardly snicker at the joke she made, she didn’t share it with anyone else. Instead, she simply smiled.

Nishaa did have a whole list of things to do tonight, and she didn’t expect to find herself babysitting a young fledgling of Andras, but considering she was one of the older members of the bloodline she figured it was her duty to help, or if Velveteen found out that she said she would help and then changed her mind, she expected the woman wouldn’t be all too pleased. So she would help Jupiter, guide in the art of stealing if she had a knack for it, then she would help her. If not, well. No harm in trying.

”If you **** up, then you’ll be up **** creek, better if I’m there if you get caught by a couple of guards. Besides if Velveteen catches wind that you got shot, or got caught by the guards, or cops. Well. My head will be on the chopping block.” She shrugged her shoulders and led her towards an office building. She made sure it wasn’t a majorly known office. Nishaa could always throw her into the deep end, but what was the fun in that. Start off small. She doubted Jupiter would get herself caught in this small rundown office building.

”You can, you can find warehouses that are used to store blades and things. You can break them down right?” An arm snaked out as she smashed the window. No alarm sounded and the necromancer gave a sly smile. ”After you”
