Default Pop Up Alert for PMs

I've noticed that a few of the newer people don't check their PMs even though they are hanging around on the forum and doing other things.

I'm wondering if that's because they may or may not be accustomed to forums generally, or they're not accustomed to this one specifically.

I wonder if perhaps the pop-up alert for messages should be default for new accounts, so that they're aware that their sire-character has contacted them? Or that someone has contacted them, perhaps in response to the welcome threads or any queries they may have posted?

Which is obviously something that could be changed later in the Control Panel.
