Her immediate thought is that this man has a tad too much energy. Not being sure if it’s nervous energy or something else, Cori chooses to just ignore and roll with it. On her way to the kitchen she tells him “It is almost ready, thanks, I don’t need any help”. Thinking for a moment she amends that to “Why don’t you sit down and I’ll get everything ready?” Right after that statement, Cori lets out a muffled laugh. Am I really preparing a meal for this person? I mean, he isn’t someone I would ever allow in my circle let alone my home, she thinks to herself. It is then when she says “Hey, maybe you could set the table?

Jonathan checks her out as she walks back to the kitchen. She's cute, tight little body on her, he can imagine doing bad things to her (blood). He shakes his head as the thought comes unbidden, what the hell? "Uh, yeah... where's you silverware and place-mats?" Damn he's thirsty. He can't decide what he wants more, her or something to drink. With how parched he is he might actually take the drink over the girl.

He glances around the apartment again. Pictures and paintings, little decorations. Hell, it's a lot better than his dump. His furniture is old and ratty, hers nice and new looking. His windows are streaked, hers are nice and perfect. Man, this woman's got her **** together, he thinks. Why the **** can't I ever seem to get mine right?

“The silverware is in that drawer,” she points to her left. “I rarely use place-mats,” she says with a sharp tone. It was that kind of tone that one gets when you cannot believe someone asked a question like that… it should have just been known. Cori stirs the pasta and pulls a strand out with her fork, to test its doneness… forgetting someone was there, she holds the fork above her head... tilts her head back and drops the strand into her mouth. She then turns to see John staring at her…

"My bad..." he starts. He's not sure if he means sorry for getting staring at her or about the stupid non-existent place-mats. How the **** is a guy meant to know a woman he doesn't know doesn't use place-mats? Every guy knows that tone. Most don't know why they are hearing it. He move for the drawer and... damn she smells good. It's not her shampoo, perfume, body wash or spray, it's something deeper... something delicious. He finds his gaze travelling from her feet, up the length of her legs, over the curvature of her hips and over her smooth belly... Damn she's fine, perfect breasts too but his gaze stops at her neck... it's perfect... he wants to kiss and suck (bite) her throat... he wants to taste her (blood). He stands there a moment holding the silverware in his hand and just staring at the pulsing carotid.

He is standing there, staring… it is that kind of stare that makes her feel as though she should run… that she should take that butcher knife from the drawer, to the left of the stove and hold it firmly. She does neither of them. Just stares back at him… with a gaze that is just as ferocious if not more so, than his. What Cori does not realize is that each gaze they deliver to one another has far different intentions behind them. Hers, is to convey the message that she cannot be messed with, that it is best that he does not try. His… well it is something she cannot quite figure out. What she does know is that her curiosity is winning over her rational thoughts. Not just winning, but has won. “Is there a problem?” she says. Her tone is monotone with a latent sense of strength.

He takes a step forward into arms reach... "No, it's just... your scent... it's..." It's what? Intoxicating? Maddening? Yes, whatever it is, it's driving him mad with thirst... unbeknownst to him, his fangs have dropped, it gives his words a soft mushy sound to them that he doesn't notice. He's not moving, stock still, arms at his side, feet squared and there is a nervous tension about him, an aura of a predator ready to strike. It's not lust, something more primal... deeper... much more terrifying.... he can taste her, he can hear the blood hammering through her veins...he can almost feel the warmth of her blood within him... the intensity in his hazel eyes screaming his hunger louder than words could.

Cori watches as this unkempt man, standing in front of her… changes. Not the sort of change that you see every day… his facial features harden, his stance becomes more rigid, like that of a lion about to pounce on a baby Impala. Cori backs up, but finds herself flush against the stove. She cannot move, has no escape route.

It is then she realizes that she has an out… the boiling pot of pasta. If he steps forward, even one step, she will douse him with it… no hesitation, not even a second thought. “Jon, is there an issue?” she enquires, with a tone that models that of her mother’s… when she took the car for a joyride to the beach at age 16.

Her voice reaches his ears, but the words don't process. He opens his mouth to say something, fangs glinting in the light as his lips curl back. The silverware clatters to the floor by his feet. His knees bend slightly and his hands open and close slowly, there's not heaving of the shoulders, no movement whatsoever. He stands totally stock still like a statue except his eyes. They move over to the stove, then back to her in a flash. A low, guttural growl emanates from his throat...

Recognizing the posture Trahir briefly contemplates entering through the window and preventing the attack. Curiosity stays his hand. He himself drained his first victim dry, killed them and then swore it would never happen again. This one though, he seems softer somehow. Trahir is betting on an embrace tonight if the childe can figure out how. Stepping in now would be a mistake. He would likely have to kill the human for witnessing the supernatural regardless. Better to wait and see how it all plays out.

Cori watches Jon… she finds herself countering each small movement he makes… all the while readying herself to grab that pot of boiling water. She processes so very quickly, a skill she has had since a very young age. “Do you have anything to say, Jon?” in a snide tone that she hopes will put him in his respective place.

It is then, as soon as those words leave her mouth that she sees his... fangs. Her first inclination is to take it as a joke... they sell those teeth at the corner joke store for five dollars. Something inside of her tells her this is not a joke. This man, in front of her, just grew ******* fangs! It is then that she takes a step to the right, towards the door. The thought of that pot of boiling water is the furthest from her mind. Her instincts are telling her to run and run quickly.
