Post by Nerissa Clemming »

Nerissa liked his bluntness. She thought about what skills she could offer, but when nothing came to mind she shook her head. "I'm in no hurry to find anything right now. I doubt I would be of any use to anyone at this time, but that might change. I'm doing just fine with what I do right now." She finished off her drink. "But maybe I'll find you again if I need help job hunting. Last time I tried it was a total failure."
A thought niggled in the back of her mind, and when she turned her attention to Lennox she realize she completely ignored the woman. "It's a pleasure to meet you Lennox. I don't think we've met before have we?" She couldn't remember ever seeing her, but these last few parties she's been to had a lot of people, and they were starting to mix together in her mind to the point where she questioned where she actually talked to them or not.

“Fair enough Nerissa. If you change your mind.. or need a reference. Let me know, I will do what I can.” With that last comment, that brought that part of the conversation to an end. He subsided into silence as Nerissa turned her attention to Lennox. Doc looked from Nerissa to Lennox, as the conversation was directed to her. He was interested to see how she did. He didn’t doubt her abilities. He would have never turned her, had he doubted her. But it would be interesting to see she related to others of their kind. This would be a perfect occasion to observe.

Pi’s smile was short and sharp. Seeing as she had limited (if undeveloped due to lack of practice) sort of social skills, she had no room to argue the point. (not that she would have). If it weren’t for Elliot popping into her head like her personal good devil she wouldn’t have known that distraction was really a conversational thing and knowing her lack of skills, she might have said something… unpleasant because of it. "Yes, my social skills are rusty too. I guess it is a good reason to get out as any." Pi replied.

“But we shouldn’t keep you too long. You have other guests arriving.” Pi finished, giving him the perfect reason to excuse himself, seeing as she suspected this sort of thing wasn’t really his cup of earl grey. And she, well she should probably go talk to her rather sharp mouthed childe. Looking up at Elliot she doesn't mention this plan yet, knowing exactly the derisive snort she'd get in her head at the idea.

Bridges needed building for them but she wasn't entirely equipped with the necessary personal tools to do the building. But she could at least keep trying.

Pi seems happy enough with the introduction to half excuse us, so I turn to Ric and place my arms around his neck.
“Got a little more than you bargained for out of that auction didn’t ya?”
I lean into him and kiss him twice. As I pull away, the fingers of my right hand briefly find their home in his hair where they playfully tickle the back of his head. I know. I just can’t help myself.
Smiling, I turn back to supernatural parents.
“Have fun guys. We’re gonna take a moment and then go mingle.”
I grab a hold of Ric’s hand and pull him away from everyone else and off to a quiet corner. He’s doing really well and while I’d happily let him push himself to his limit, he kinda deserves a reward; a real one that is and not just the kind that benefits me.
“You alright babe? Need a break? I don’t mind coming outside with you for a bit… unless you wanna be alone?”
I’ve still got a hold of his hand but I’m not all up in his personal space as I say this as I want him to be comfortable.
Am I strong enough?

The wedding had passed. Charles had been right in saying that. This celebration was proceeding the event. Like herself, her sibling was an unconventional individual. Now he proved to be unpredictable as well. This was progression for him, an improvement. Phoenix's words have stayed with her since Paige. At the time, there was only a speck of understanding of what that meant. You have to be happy, that they're happy. That was the take away point; a force fed epiphany that took a while to swallow.

By the time Pyper rejoined the conversation, it closed with Charles and Nerissa speaking about jobs. Her hand groped out, touching along the knuckles of the woman she was the plus one for. Maybe there was something therapeutic still about delivering the touch as much as it was when being received.

"Nerissa is going to help me pick out hair dye soon," she injected abruptly to feign having been utterly mentally present for the duration of the conversation. "For work." The last was an addition since she had caught the word 'work,' by chance.

Pi figured Roderic and Skylar would make their excuses and move away given half the excuse. It was the reason she gave it. They were all here to celebrate the event and it seemed unfair to monopolise them both. Plus, she wasn’t entirely certain what else she was going to say anyway so being saved from long drawn out conversation that could (and probably would) turn into something entirely awkward was a plus too.

So. Pi thought to Elliot, her hand casually dropping to nudge his thigh. We should probably … meet people? she asked.

There were two distinct groups, separated by the circle of acquaintance division often created at events like this. They were pods of people who gravitated towards one another because they knew each other and it was just easier than breaking out and introducing yourself to someone new.

“We could play pool?" she suggested out loud, looking around. “Maybe ask if anyone would like to play a round of doubles?” She could play pool. It was all about geometry and angles. Kinetic force and physics. It is the alignment of the shot, determined by the upper and lower spin of two balls connecting to ricochet into specific pockets. Put into practical perspective, pool was a bit like shooting a gun. And Pi was really good shooting guns.

“And I could kick your ***.”

Juliet came in, the slow reaction time of her processing her environment was a reminder how taxing it sometimes was to be around all of these heavy dosages of stimulants. Pyper's hand lifted and she waved to the woman. Juliet was always nice to her, even from what little contact they've had. That happened, though. That people spoke up, and would disappear for a while. Then come back. Axton was doing that now, though sightings of him in a recent raid meant that at least he wasn't sleeping.

Not wanting to abandon Nerissa and Beverly, nor Charles - especially Charles - the Telepath swept a bud of thought to Juliet. It was an invisible link, a conduit of her voice passing from one mind to the other's.

Juliet, it's nice that you came. I like your clothes.

The internally spoken words made her smile. It wasn't an unusual thing to catch that expression on Lucretia. That far off grin.

"Like wise and no, we haven't met before. I stayed around Professor X and his little gaggle of people. Mainly because he was having fun making me think I was crazy and two...because I was still breathing so it was dangerous for me to meet too many as I would be a..." She slipped her arm from around Doc's waist just to make air quotes before returning her arm to stay near him. "...'danger'. I can't blame him, looking at it now...it would be fun as hell to either drive someone crazy or at least make them think it. The masquerade is of the utmost importance and Professor X here was having a bit of fun in the process before he killed me. It was just deciding if he was keeping me or not that took him so long since he failed to drive me out of the city." She turned her head to look at him and gave him a sly wink. "I decided to help him with the decision by giving him a couple of paladin heads because one, they were fun to kill and two, they were talking crap about Professor X. So I killed them and delivered their heads personally as a gift."

Elliot arched a brow at Pi, turning to face her as Skylar and Roderic retreated. It was just the two of them, now; there was a group of people gathered around Doc; most of the faces in the room were those he did not recognise. This did not dissuade Elliot, though. The thought of meeting people was actually kind of pleasant, even if thinking about the family or faction these other people must belong to made him kind of seasick.

But, Elliot would not be Elliot if he started judging people by their family. That was not within his character. He laughed at Pi's suggestion. "That's a challenge I can't say no to," he said. It was very easy for him to stride across the room and slip a coin into one of the tables; there was the crack and clatter of the balls as they rolled into the catchment. Once the table was claimed, he uncoiled to his full height, and lifted two fingers to his lips. A piercing whistle interrupted the room.

"My w--" the word stuck in his throat. She wasn't his wife, yet. Not technically. Technically, that was a lie, and he cursed his own curse. "--woman thinks she can kick my ***. Doubles, anyone?"

As Lennox’ arm moved away, he couldn’t resist the urge to hook his arm around neck, pull her in close and kiss the top of her head. Of all his spawns, this one took his mean spirited humor in stride and gave back as good as she got. Doc was not an outwardly demonstrative man, but she had a way of making him feel at ease, where normally he wouldn’t be. He loosened his hold on her, put left his arm around her shoulder.

“Very fine specimens too, I might add. And for an amateur,” he slides a look right back her, “You are an amateur I hope.” His gaze looks back to the others, “Her cuts were strong and decisive. No hesitation tears or pulls. It means she knows how to keep her tools sharp as well.”

Over the top of Lucretia’s petite stance, he nodded to Jules. He remembered her from Phoenix’s do.
