On account of this, I figured I should mention this here. If you try to give an item to a decoy, the game gives you message that the person isn't in the square. Pretty sure it is intended that way so people wouldn't lose items anymore, but is a pretty reliable tell.

yeah...i think that was changed cause people were losing valuable items by passing to decoys

This is false unless Mads decoys are broken which could highly be possible. But gave an item to a decoy and lost it without any message.
