I wish I had an angel (CharlotteC)

Post by Arivene (DELETED 6142) »

As per usual Arivene had found herself in yet another dark and dingy place, except this time she couldn't remember how she got there. She tutted to herself as slowly stood up from the mud she had found herself in. Raising her hand to her neck, gently pressing under her ear, she didn't understand why or how she had hurt herself there but what ever had happened had left her with a dull ache that just wouldn't seem to shift. Arivene peered left and then right, she was alone and the sun was setting. 'What the hell have I been up to?' She asked herself as she slowly spun round to take in her surroundings. The last thing she could remember was stumbling out of a bar or a club, taking a mental note that it was just her neck hurting she came to the assumption she hadn't got into a fight and she definitely hadn't been thrown to the curb. Which meant she had come here by choice even if she couldn't remember why she was there or even how she got there. The moon was at it's fullest giving everything around an eery glow.

An owl hooted and Arivene almost jumped out of her skin. She clung on tight to her coat, doing her best not to trip over it. Moving her hand from her neck she rubbed the back of the head, still confused as to where she was. Pushing her long black hair from her face she looked around again and slowly she walked forward. Trying to get her bearings but as bright as the moon was she still couldn't recognize a single thing around her. From behind her there came a faint banging noise, Arivene frowned as she turned round to face the direction the noise had come from. In front of her was just a black hole, or what appeared to be a black hole, the banging continued even if it was so quite she could just hear it. She walked over and peered inside, her eyes taking their time to adjust to the darkness. Arivene took a step forward and then the smell hit her and she realized where she had landed her self. At the entrance to the sewers. She almost heaved as the stench hit her, taking a deep breath she thought to herself 'That is horrendous, it's like something has died down here, I didn't think sewers could smell this bad. It's worse than I imagined'

Taking a step back, Arivene couldn't bring herself to go any further the smell for one was bad enough but if that kind of stench was coming from there then god knows what was down there. It was almost tempting to dig around in her pockets to find tissue to put up her nose as childish as it was, so she thrust her hands into her pockets to see what she had as she had already noticed her bag was gone. As she dug around she found a couple of coins, a lighter, the usual pocket lint. Her fingers found her phone and she pulled it out to see it's low battery warning. 'Just great, just what I need. Can't even use it as a damn torch.' She thought, Arivene thrust her phone back in her pocket and began pacing up and down, she rummaged through her pockets one last time in case she could find anything else that would help her figure out the mess she had landed herself in. Arivene pulled out her lighter and rolled her thumb over the wheel, sparking it up. She curved her other hand around the flame to protect it from the wind and peered over at the sewer then looked at the sky. It was going to rain again, the clouds starting to block out the moons light. It was going to get even darker and colder soon. Arivene looked back at the sewer wondering if she'd be better off in there than outside.

With nothing left to lose Arivene decided she might aswell investigate the noise it might smell bad in there but atleast she would be sheltered from the rain that was going to fall any minute. So with that she walked towards the darkness, letting it wrap around her, drawing her in with nothing more than her lighter to guide her way forward.

Charlie stalked slowly, quietly, through the sewers within her hyena form. In this form she was more than just a little lethal, especially to those of the hunter and paladin variety. Granted, she normally wasn't big into violence, but in this form, she did tend to take things to a bloody place. Thus her reason for moving through the sewers instead of walking through the open streets. Of course the other reason was that a hyena in the open streets... not the smartest of ideas. She continued to walk through the sewers, walking the maze of twists and turns. Her main goal was to visit the catacombs. There she could have target practice on the zombies down there, she could also pick up some blades and blade pieces for her sister, Skylar. Sky gave her some great weaponry, so it felt only right to help her by bringing her anything and everything she could work with. Plus, it helped Charlie grow. Something she often fell short in because of her new obsession - building guns.

As she made a turn, she spotted a hunter, clearly on the look out for vampires and strange creatures. Charlie had to wonder, would he think an African animal stalking the sewers was weird? She would have smirked if she could, instead it came out more of a snarl before her creepy hyena laugh echoed through the tunnels. It was enough of a shock to the hunter that Charlie had the advantage and soon stood upon the corpse, looking down at it. As she pulled a much needed gun from the corpse, she also worked at pulling the body towards the 'water' that flowed through the sewer lines and would likely rush out into the river. As the body splashed in, she let out another laugh and then continued her way through the tunnels.

About three more turns and she was shocked at what she saw. Well, not that shocked, after all some of the odder humans liked to walk through the sewers, but this one looked almost as if she were lost, perhaps dazed... Charlie couldn't tell, as she only got a glimpse of her from behind. For now, she would silently follow the human, find out if she really was as lost as she looked or if there was something else to her walking around the sewers.

Arivene continued wondering through the darkness, keeping one hand against the wall so she could at least try and get a rough idea of where she was going. After a while it felt like she had been going in circles, alternating between turning left and right. Somewhere she had read that in a maze or labyrinth situation you should always hug the left wall, not there was fun in that idea for Arivene. She never did follow the norm, making up her own rules as she went along. Always thinking she knew best and it was that mentality at times that landed her in situations like the one she was in now, Arivene had no one but herself to blame as she bit her lip in frustration. She came up to a cross section, holding out her lighter in front of her she peered round the left corner and then in front of her. Trying her hardest tried not to look down at the water. Being in the sewers was bad enough, she'd never get the smell out of her clothes, let alone her hair and by looking at the water it was almost as if she was acknowledging the fact she was well and truly up **** creek. In her head, Arivene tried to imagine she was somewhere other than where she was. Not that it was working or helping for that matter.

Looking down at her feet Arivene hopped over the water to the other side to get a look at what had been the path to her right. Arivene closed her eyes and sighed, almost forgetting to breath through her mouth and not her nose. 'Eeny, meeny, miney, mo.' She thought to herself as she slowly turned herself in the direction of the different tunnels, opening her eyes as she landed on mo. Having been spinning round for what seemed longer than it was poor Arivene had no idea which was which and made her way down the path infront of her. It was a small comfort to know she wasn't going back the way she had came. Humming to herself as she walked, apart from her humming all she could hear was the water as it licked the side of the tunnels it flowed in. It was then she heard what seemed like a laugh, Arivene turned round suddenly almost tripping over her own feet to try and pinpoint where the noise had come from. The fact that it was pitch black should of heightened her sense but that didn't seem to be the case for Arivene. She should just admit she was lost and starting to get scared.

Her lighter flickered, it was going to run out of gas soon and it was then she saw a shadow out of the corner of her eye. Blinking rapidly she wasn't sure if she had actually seen the blob or if it was her just her eyes playing tricks on her. Arivene frowned and shook her, turning to look at where she had thought the shadow had been and seeing nothing, "Hello?" She called out, "Anyone there?" Arivene was already on edge from the strange noise she had heard and now to be seeing things? Well she might as well admit she was either cracking or she had genuinely experienced what she had seen and heard, with that Arivene signed and sat herself down. Her legs were going to give out on her if she carried on, 'I either carry on and die or I at least try and survive and rest up' She thought. She rummaged through her pockets again, finding a packet of chewing up, feeling with her fingers how many pieces she had left. Satisfied she had nearly a whole pack she gently pulled out a piece and put it in her mouth, grateful for the burst of strawberry flavoring to dance over her taste buds. For a moment she relaxed, content to just sit there and enjoy the first thing she had eaten for a little while.

Charlie continued to watch the human as she made her way through the sewer tunnels. Charlie's hyena form padded quietly, almost in a stalking fashion, only she wasn't hungry for human blood - she had fed on her thrall earlier. The girl stopped and so did Charlie, watching as she tried to decide which way to go. Two of the tunnels, Charlie knew, would lead the girl towards the catacombs if she wasn't lucky. Charlie had to shake her head to clear her mind of the last time she had seen a human - a pure blooded, curious human - walking through the catacombs. Two of the three had died before her eyes, no matter how she tried to save them. Her and Cherry both. Cherry had saved one though. That was a saving grace.

The girl spoke, as if she had heard something. Or maybe the girl had spotted her. She wasn't sure, but she was using the shadows of the tunnels to her advantage to hide. It was tempting to speak using mindspeak to tell her the way out, but all that would do is freak her out - especially if she were anything like her. She remembered the first time someone had used that power on her. Picking up Morpheus from Zo's place. It had freaked her out, hearing that gypsy's voice in her mind. Now she was used to it, and with thoughts of the woman, almost tempted to reach out to her. For now though, she remained silent, she remained in her animal form. She would watch this young mortal and make sure she got back to where she came from, safe.

Feeling rested 'Vene stood up still chewing her gum. Brushing herself down, she carried on walking in her chosen direction. Still unsure of where she was going, or where she would end up for that matter. She could either turn back and try and go back the way she had come or carry on and hope that there was light at the end of the tunnel. Unfortunately for her, the tunnels seemed to get darker and the water was almost still. 'Vene had come a long way and now panic was slowly starting to set in. "I need to stay calm or I'll never get out of here. I can't let it win." She thought as she slowly lowered herself to a crouching position, her head almost between her knees as she tried to calm herself down. Breathing in slowly through her nose and out through her mouth, counting to 10 in her head before slowly raising herself up to her full height once more. "I am calm." 'Vene thought, smiling to herself as she carried on, flicking her lighter on to see if there was any more junctions up ahead.

Ahead of her was two tunnels, one to her left and the other to her right. If she had a coin 'Vene would of probably flipped it to make her decision, so instead she closed her eyes and thought of nothing as she swayed from side to side, suddenly she stopped as she was leaning left. So that was the way she went, 'Vene sighed as she carried on. Realizing what a silly mistake she had made entering this maze but what was done, was done and she would have to live with that decision.

Charlie continued to watch over the poor lost human from the shadows cast by the sewers. She could tell that perhaps the fumes might be getting to the girl because she had had to sit down and rest for a bit before she had come to the fork where she would need to make the choice, did she go one way or the other? She wondered which way the girl would choose, but either way, she planned to keep an eye on her, help her if need be, but for now, she needed to stay in the shadows because though the girl was lost as lost could get, there was no way to explain a hyena being down there especially in Canada, and she wouldn't be able to lie to the girl. It was the same as if she turned into her human form and approached the girl. Her question would more than likely be 'what was she doing down here' and if it was, Charlie would have to tell her.

She went to the left and as she did, Charlie continued to stalk the girl, watch her, make sure that nothing happened to her. If she got to the catacombs, she knew she would have to approach her one way or another. There was no way that she would end up safe down there. Not with things like zombies and mooncalves and vampires that were dead set against protecting the catacombs and mausoleum from humans knowing the secret of vampires. Yup, she had to protect this girl and hope that if she ended up in the catacombs that Charlie could get to her before the zombies and mooncalves did.
