In my dreams I’m dying all the time

The necromancer’s blood didn’t ooze down Marjani’s neck for long – the woman was already squirming, wriggling in her grasp. Nishaa could already tell this woman was going to be hell, she was going to keep Nishaa on her feet. Nishaa rarely sired – she had sired Abbadon, force sired her actually – offered her no choice, filled her up with her own blood then killed her, a snap to the neck and it was all over for her – until she came back to life. She snorted in remembrance before looking down at her small bundle, the thrashing woman.

Then I wake up, colliding strange minds.

Nails dug into the vampire’s shoulder, they dug down hard and deep. Nishaa dropped the human bundle to the ground and arched her back straight writhing in pain. Eyes squeezed closed as she began to let air fill her dead lungs. A human habit. When her onyx orbs opened to look at the woman, she was nowhere to be seen, the woman had assumed she had done a runner. Nishaa did like a chase, made it much more enjoyable – the blood sweeter, granted the woman didn’t have much blood left in her system. Nishaa had drunk most of it.

I never meant to go to, I never meant to lie.

Gathering herself, and her hunger until control she began to walk in the general direction of the blood – she could smell it in the air, the fear too. She was like a dog, hunting its prey. The woman had her own blood within the woman’s veins, so she would turn into a vampire no matter what regardless. She needed to die, or better yet. Die on her own, from bloodloss. She scoffed pushing her raven hair into a ponytail so it was no longer scraping against her small wound on her shoulder that Marjani had given her.

So this is goodbye.

  • ”I like it when they run.”

She said, following the trail. Heck, if the woman wanted to play hide and seek from the vampire, she could always get her wraith to help – he hadn’t tracked in a while. The bounty hunting was quiet for now, to many good boys and girls in Canada right now.

She was free and Mari didn't take a second to react accordingly. Just like any survivalist would in Africa. You want to live? You run. You hide. You do whatever it takes-even if the cost is high, disgusting and unthinkable. Only she wasn't in Africa-she was in Canada and supposedly it was a 'safe, nice place to live.' Was all her mother would say the first few years of living here. It was not safe. Not by a long shot.

Mari dashed out into the streets, not even worried about her surroundings and narrowly avoiding cars that drove by, that honked their horns at her. A couple skidded to a stop and she took the chance to survive. She pounded on the roof of a red 1990's something or another, then pointed at her neck. She didn't talk, but no one could miss the fact that she was wounded. Severely. But no one ever left the car to see if she was alright. Mari probably didn't blame them.

Frustrated hands slammed on the hood of the car again before she kicked the piece of metal. Bad mistake. Her foot connected with the metal, harder than she thought it would before Mari started to feel wobbly and dizzy. Blood loss. She knew the feeling. She knew it well. When they found her. In Africa, when she wasn't even a teenager. How she managed to survive was anyone's guess, but she did. Just barely.

Mari stepped away from the car that sat there, never knowing who was in it or why they wouldn't get out. Shock? Horror? A whole number of things could have prevented them from coming out of their car and helping her. She moved around another parked car that was in the middle of the road and made it to the other side of the road, where she propped herself up against the first tall, solid surface. Brown eyes swiveled left and right to see where she was exactly in conjunction to the hospital. She wasn't going to make it. She knew it. Felt it.

Her fingers slipped off the city light fixture as Mari went down, face first into the pavement at her feet. The dark haired woman rolled over and stared up at the sky. She was tired. Exhausted, but she just had to hide good enough for the woman to not see her. Maybe if she laid low, slowed her heart rate and a person happened to walk by, Mari might be able to make it. Her feet pushed her away from the city road and to the entrance of some shop where she stopped. There were a lot of factors that needed to play into this scenario-but she had been in worse luck before.

If Nishaa chose, she could turn her teeth into jaws. Her mouth would be like that of a lion’s. It was useful when she was bored and just wanted to rip out someone’s throat. The smirk of remembrance set her off, her head lifted so she could remember the taste of blood in her mouth, the scent of fear coming from the male – and those agonized screams he gave out before he died at her teeth. Large, ravenous jaws. It was a power not all vampires could do, and she used it often. She hadn’t shown Marjani yet, maybe that would freak her out enough that she’d die of fright. A cackle erupted from her lips as she followed the sound of horns from cars, something had obviously got in their way and she was pretty sure it was her lovely little soon to be childe.

Nishaa made her way to the road slowly. A foot in front of the other at a casual pace. Her hands were pocketed in her jeans the rip in her fabric of clothing was the only sign that Marjani had lashed out at the vampire, it had healed. It was only a scape – nothing serious so it took a few moments to heal back up. Nothing too seriously like a sliced neck. Which was painful.

She could smell the blood though, it was getting stronger – she crossed the road weaving through the moving vehicles until she got to the other side of the road. A lamppost was stained with a bloody handprint and she knew it belonged to Marjani, she laughed and followed the scent. Her pace never slowed, nor quickened it stayed steady. The scent of blood stopped close to a shop, she examined the door with her onyx orbs and found blood etched across the handle.

She was inside.

  • ”End of the road..”

She said underneath her breath as she opened the door to the shop, the bell at the top of the door jingled. Alerting the owner there was someone inside the shop, and it told Marjani that her running was up, she had had her brief feeling of freedom, now it was time to welcome death. It was coming for her.

The owner of the shop hadn't heard the bell the first time the door opened. Partly because Mari had snaked and crawled her way into the shop at a pace slower than a snail. The bell had been barely been tapped. Mari inched her way across the fake hard wood floor, until her back was at against the counter. That was when crazy, psycho ***** entered. She wanted Mari dead, so why was she playing with her like this?

"Hi, welcome to Candlente. How can I-" The woman that appeared from the back of the stocking room asked before she really saw what was going on. Mari on the ground, severly wounded and a woman strolling in after Mari. "Money is in the cash drawer. My boss told me let you take what you want. No problems. Honest." The brunette said as she held up both her hands. She knew something wasn't right. Just not what. She assumed she walked in on a mugging that went wrong.

"I won't even call the cops. Not until you're long gone. Take whatever you want. Those candles smell the best." The woman pointed to the middle of the room where there's a stack of candles placed out nice and neat before she started cowering under behind the counter.

Mari just rolled her eyes. Far back. Farther back than she ever did before. She couldn't control her them anymore. Everything was getting heavy. Even her eyes. But the woman's stupidity had them rolling regardless. If crazy, psycho didn't think twice about killing Mari, she wouldn't think twice about offing the chick behind the desk. But running was stupid too. The woman had a knack for sniffing you out like no other. Like a dog, but to crazy new levels. It was unnatural.

That was the last thought she had about crazy ***** before her body grew too heavy for Mari to fight what was destined to happen. Darkness consumed her thoughts and her line of vision as her head slumped forward; chin kissing her chest as she died.

Onyx orbs narrowed at the sight of the human. She shook her head. The woman assumed this was a robbery. She laughed; the permanent fangs were on show. As she waggled a finger at the woman. Why the **** would she want to steal from a small shop like this? It was crap for a start. If she wanted to start stealing from shops instead of buildings – at least she’d have a little more style and hit the bigger ones. Right now, she could get out of here with a chocolate bar that she couldn’t even eat. Sigh.
  • “Do I look like I want to ******* rub you?”

She said as she meandered up to the counter, elbows pressing against the wood as she planted her chin within her hands. Staring at the woman with those dark hues of hers. To a human she was intimidating, the way she kept herself, the way she walked and sometimes the way she walked – not to mention the big *** gun on her back. Of course she’d assumed Nishaa was trying to rob her of all her good from this poor person’s corner shop. She pushed herself into an upright position, snaked her arms out quickly and caught the woman within her deadly embrace. With another quick movement.

SNAP, CRACK

Nishaa had snapped the woman’s neck. Causing an automatic death, it was a mercy really. Nishaa could have made it painful, for even trying to talk to her. She had to kill her anyway, she could have given her ID to the police and that would have been trouble for the Necromancer, better to give them a dead person – than involve a faction of intimidating vampires. Nishaa rounded a corner and found Marjani slumped on the floor. She shook her head grabbed the woman, threw her over her shoulder – grabbed her tome from her back pocket and teleported herself to the Eyrie. Marjani would be safe there. Ignoring the stares of her faction mates she made her way to the Elevator, punched in the third floor and waited. The bundle was light, caused her no issues. Did this woman not eat?

The doors flew open and she made her way to her hut, unlocked it quickly with her key and went inside. She made her way over to the bed and dropped the woman upon it. It wasn’t the most amazing of huts, a double bed – marvel bed sheets, a sofa, fridge, TV. Nishaa took a chair out in the main area waiting for the woman to turn into a vampire – that was next. She opened a Naruto manga, and began to read.

There is a silence that is deafening as she dies, but it's almost welcomed by Mari. For too long she had been fighting against everything; fighting to survive. Death didn't seem as bad as it once had prior to tonight. She feels weightless. There are no concerns. No worries. No cares. There's no reason to worry or care. This is the end of the road. Or so she believes.

Until the woman wakes up in extreme agony. Everything hurts. Her head, her legs, her arms, her chest and her throat. Her body spasms for a few minutes, adjusting to the transition she's not aware she's taking part of. Fingers claw at her neck as the agony she feels turns into a burning sensation and she's trying to get whatever it is that is burning her-off of her. Only thing is, all she feels is flesh under her nails as she scratches away at her neck.

Her body rolls, or more like flops to the right as her eyes shoot open and she takes in her current surroundings. The crazy ***** hadn't killed her. The crazy ***** took her hostage, or something like that. She had to get out of here and she had to get out of here now.

Mari flops left to see the crazy ***** sitting there, reading a comic book? Or something like it. She was reading a comic book while holding someone hostage? The woman doesn't have any regrets? Any fears? Any concerns that she's ruined someone's life? That there is a living person next to her with what feels like a thousand bones broken in her body?

Mari bolts up like a cat whose tail had just been stepped on and rushes to the door of the room she's in. If she's in a room, chances are she's in an apartment or a house. Mari just needed to get to the right door to draw some attention to herself. She could get somewhere, anywhere, before the crazy ***** sets down her comic and chases after her. At least that's what she believes and hopes.

Ears perked up as the woman heard the slats underneath the bed begin to creak. Well, it was safe to say Marjani had survived the transition. She put down the comic book and turned her beastly eyes upon the bedroom where Marjani should be stirring, trying to get some collection on what’s going on. A yawn left the woman’s mouth as she felt that hunger again, this time she controlled it and boosted her own blood. The hunger going away almost instantly. She stood up and moved over to the bedroom and opened the door. The woman was nowhere to be seen, she took a moment to collect herself, as she made her way over to the door where she grabbed her gun. Marjani wasn’t a human anymore – she was a vampire, and if she exposed herself to humans, Nishaa had a bullet with her name on it.
  • ”Here kitty..kitty…”

She chided with a sweet smile as she made her way out of the hut and down the elevator to the main floor of the Eyrie. If Marjani was making a run for it, then this is where she’d go. She couldn’t go to the ground floor, it was trapped to hell and back, the only way out was jumping off the balcony, or going through the fadeportal. The balcony was the safest bet to find her, she was sure the woman wouldn’t go through the fadeportal. She pushed the second floor in the silver box and waited for the damn thing to take her down a floor before it dinged and the doors opened for her, she stepped out onto the wooden floor and began to make her way over to the balcony.

She canted her head to look at a wild eyed Marjani. The woman had made it this far, she was full of energy, life. Nishaa admired it – no, she admired her. She grinned.

  • ”I made you a vampire.”

She said rather bluntly. She didn’t like to dance around the corners of the truth, she just said it how it was.

  • ”I killed you.”

The truth. Blunt as a knife.

The words, I killed you echoed in Mari's head as she stood there, blocked off from her attempt to flee from the crazy *****. Marjani didn't know what to do or where to go. She had hit the balcony, which lead to a great big fall, had turned and had been met face-to-face with the crazy stalker woman.

Eyes darted left, then right and left again before Mari just cracked a smile. It wasn't one of those happy, perky smiles. It was one of those that said 'Riiiiiight.' Because there was no way she could be dead and a vampire. That sort of thing just didn't exist. It wasn't possible. Or was it?

Her mother had spoken of something called the Obayifo that haunted cities in the night, sucking the blood of children for various reasons. Myths mostly, or so Mari assumed when she outgrew the fear of the old story that spoke of children who didn't mind their parents, didn't listen and were awake at night time, making them victims to the Obayifo.

A hand instantly went to her neck, desperately seeking a pulse. She stood there in silence, eyes locked on the dark haired woman as she moved her fingers around and around. Finding a pulse shouldn't be this hard, should it? It wasn't as if she were a pro at it, but you could feel it somewhere. Right?! Only, she couldn't. No matter what side of her neck, her fingers worked on, Mari couldn't find a single beat. So her hand went to the opposite wrist and began probing the inside of the flesh there. Hoping for a different result. Expecting it.

Nothing.
There was nothing. Her eyes widened in size, before she stepped back and away from the crazy, psycho, stalker, *****, but was met with a railing that kept people from falling off the balcony. Only, would it matter if she fell off this floor and landed a few feet below? If she was a supposed vampire? Mari decided no.

She grabbed the railing, jumped up on it and then jumped down. As she 'fell,' Mari imagined the scene playing out a lot differently than it actually had. She imagined landing on her feet, or at worst, landing on her back somehow, but tucking and rolling to avoid any real damage. It seemed being a vampire, didn't grant you any special prowess right off the bat. When she landed there was a sickening crunch as her leg bone snapped and she landed face first on the surface below.

Nishaa didn’t have much time, she couldn’t even say anything. The woman clambered over the balcony rail, standing on top of it before jumping off it.
  • ”Mother..F-“

She grunted and quickly made her way to the balcony railing, her head peering over the edge. Raven black hair touched her face as she pushed herself over the railing. She knew she would break something upon the impact, but it didn’t bother her much. She let herself drop. The crunch of grass embraced her as she groaned. Looking at her leg, as the bone stuck out of the flesh. She grumbled and put her hand upon the bone pushing it back inside – then she used one of her powers that allowed herself to heal a wound. The leg healed almost instantly. She got herself up into a standing position as she made her way over to Marjani and scooped the woman up.

  • ”I said you are a vampire, not a ******* bird.”

She pulled the tome back out from her pocket and once again recited the words. They both vanished from the grassy area and reappeared in the basement of the tree, she once again brought the woman to her hut on the third floor and dropped her upon the sheets of her bed and sat beside the bed after she had plucked a contraband blood pack from the shop downstairs.

  • ”Drink this, little one.”

She said, as she brought the pack to her lips, ripped it open with her teeth before offering it to her new childe – the fledgling. The blood smelt delicious to her nostrils, she had no idea what it would smell like to the woman.

Everything about this situation screamed how unnatural everything was. From practically the first second the dark haired woman had laid eyes on Mari, or vice versa. The fall should have done more than broke a leg, if she were normal. If Mari were human. She knew this, but it hadn't registered until the other woman, the crazy *****, followed after her, broke her own leg and melded it back together. Right in front of her eyes. Only, maybe that wasn't what happened and Mari was delirious. Exhausted. With tears of pain clouding her eye sight and both mental and physical exhaustion, Mari wasn't sure what the frick she was seeing anymore.

She was moved around like Mari weighed nothing. Again. This woman was always manhandling her. Like she had the right to. Like Mari belonged to her. The thought made Mari shudder. Or was it the pain she was still feeling that had actually made Mari shudder? Maybe both? Then she spoke again. And if the situation was different, a lot different, maybe Mari would have found the humor in it. But, believing someone was a vampire in her state of mind and physical state wasn't exactly an easy piece of information to process. Mari squirmed in Nishaa's arms. No, she pushed both her hands against Nishaa's chest and tried to get out of her arms. Only, where would she go with a broken leg? Not very far. Fight or flight only let you go so long and lasted so long and Mari had fought the crazy ***** a lot tonight. She didn't know if she had it in her anymore.

The woman had bought something and they were right back where they started a few minutes ago. Wasn't that grand? All that work for nothing. Sheets were pulled around Mari, quickly and carefully, as to not hit her injured leg any. The woman ripped a bag open and handed it to her. Mari inched away, one hand going in the air, with two fingers up, thumb out. She brought the two fingers down to meet her thumb before shaking her head. She hadn't even seen what was in it, but whatever the woman was offering her, Mari wasn't going to take it.
