So, this is Harper Rock. In this city I will spend a good few years of my life, if this position pans out. The university is fairly unknown, but one that has more to offer its students than I have seen at any institution in quite some time. I can count on one hand the number of times I have come across Occult Studies as a class, let alone the number of times it had its own department. That is why I chose to come here at all. Hopefully, it works out.

So, far, I was explored little, but there is an area of the city blocked off from the rest that leads me to believe it more than just a quiet Canadian city. For whatever reason, the night life seems to flourish, as well, many coming out. I have to wonder where all these people are during the daylight hours, but this could just be the way this city works. Like Vegas.

If I see an Elvis...I might have to leave.

Whatever the case, I haven't quite decided what I think of the place. I have no doubts I will find all that I need here, for both my own posterity and my work. The wilderness will provide a good place to search for necessary herbs and plants I may need, and I happened by some hunting grounds. I will still require some research into the other things I would require, but I happen to be quite good at that.

Outside of my own activities, I look forward to meeting people, and expanding my horizons. I could use someone to talk to, before I lose my mind. I need intelligent conversation, someone to discuss...politics with.

Alright, maybe not politics. No one likes to discuss politics, except politicians. I am certainly not one of them, as I would rather face the guillotine. Literally lose my head.

Oh, well. I guess it is time to head out for the university. I have to meet with the Dean, discuss the plans for the semester. I can only hope that a few students find interest in the topic. At least, then, my knowledge will live on in the minds of others. It is the least I can do in this life.

It has officially been about a month since I first arrived to this city to take up my post as a professor at HRU. So little, yet so much, has happened in such a short amount of time that I find it hard to rationalize. When you try to operate on the purely logical, anything that doesn't fit throws the rest all out of balance.

Let me say that despite going against all logical sense, and proving to be a crazier adventure than I might have imagined...I cannot bring myself to regret my choice.

They say that you stumble upon that person once in a lifetime...that person you just drawn to, no matter the situation. I'm not sure if I was drawn to her, or to her music. In either case, it ended with a night of coffee and laughter. I can accept that. In was all innocent enough, and as a self-proclaimed gentleman, I will not allow myself to be a womanizer. If I am going to make this commitment, I am going to see it through. She could be worth it.

Classes have begun at the school, and so far, I don't seem to have any smart mouth annoyances on my rosters. I have a feeling it is too soon to tell, though, as the first two weeks are the time when everyone is getting used to being back in classes. They all sit quietly and listen to their professors, then do their homework. But once it gets going, they will fall off the wagon. They always do.

My colleagues are slowly accepting me into their inner circle, welcoming me to their office for casual chit-chat or to get drinks after the long day.I always decline. Many of them had families to get home to, and I would hardly want to hold them up. Still, the fact they even offer shows that I am making some progress here.

It is true, I have a lot of work ahead of me to get where I want to be. At least I am on the right track. With Dhara now involved in my life, though, my time has become precious. While my work demands it, it would be wrong to always miss out on a chance to see her. My time management skills, or lack thereof, will be put to the ultimate test, I guess.
