Re: Black Thursday (Group 10)
By the way, I just remembered: do you guys want to set up a posting order? I know that some people ask for those so that they can keep up with everything happening. Personally, I don't mind it, helps to keep everything neat. Or we can just give others lead-ins? However you guys want to do it. :)
And I do hope you guys like what I came up with, yeah.

Re: Black Thursday (Group 10)
It's a good post
I just realized I have a massive problem with the prompt given HR's location in the world and the fact that the prompt indicates rain (see Q&A thread). It don't rain in -8C weather >.< I'm going to wait for clarification before deciding how/if I'll reply, because it's winter. If it's not winter, then that doesn't mesh with pretty much everything else I've written for the past month.

Re: Black Thursday (Group 10)
good catch; surprised nobody caught it til now. (me, I live in the tropics; that's my excuse, and i'm sticking to it)
either the date will be moved forward, or rain becomes snow, storm becomes blizzard. is there any sense to a "light blizzard?" or would it have to be more of a "surprise blizzard" kind of thing? hmm.
depending on the answer, I'd need to revise that post as well before we continue. not to mention will have to base the revisions on, er, movie blizzards.

Re: Black Thursday (Group 10)
I don't foresee the date moving forward >.<
The weather network usually gives a severe weather warning for nasty conditions (heavy snowfall, high winds, extreme cold), so that's likely what would have been announced, but then would have gotten worse at the last second and been escalated from a storm watch to a full on winter storm warning. High winds also cause snowdrifts on roads, which is no fun, and reduced visibility.
Anyway, these are the alerts/criteria for a winter storm in Canada: https://ec.gc.ca/meteo-weather/default. ... interStorm (scroll up for the Table of Contents if you're curious)
Visuals for a blizzard:
As for how it feels... if you've ever had something splash you in the face (or sand if you've had sand blown in your face), you know how unpleasant that is. Now imagine it's unrelenting and really damn cold, and - depending on the situation - might actually be little tiny ice droplets.
Pertinent descriptors: cold, wet, pelting, uncomfortable, irritating, etc <.<

Other tidbits. If you wear glasses, they WILL fog up. Can't be stopped. For humans, the air is harder to breathe and can actually hurt to breathe. The cold goes to the bone with the kind of wind I bet would be there, it will cut right through no matter how many layers you wear. Water can and will freeze on your skin and even on your lips if it gets too cold and the only temp we have to go by doesn't even factor in windchill. One winter up in Ontario when I was like 7, an Uncle boiled a pot of water and then dumped it out an upstairs window while us kids watched from outside. It exploded. Freaking kewl as hell.
But winter still sucks... >.<
ETA about the rp, lol
I plan to do evil things to the forge and coastside station. Just fyi. No idea when I'll be up to writing tho~ sorries! (Sorry am medicated )

Re: Black Thursday (Group 10)
Ok, so far by what I understand, there's a little change to the weather conditions in that i'll be colder than I and most other first posters took note of.
'Nix if that's workable, why don't you or someone who can further set up how cold it is, and how it's affecting the flooding and so on, do the next post? Let's set a really cataclysmic scene here.
I do also like the vague idea that this was all set up by the Fae in order to make the wilderness (where, iirc, they have Power) invade the city. If you guys like that too, we can add more hints without committing to anything first, then if it feels right we can throw something bigger into the mix.
Would have responded to all this earlier, but it seems my city's having some problems with its cell towers, and both my mobile internet and home internet are based on cellphone towers. I'll be on for the next few hours or so, depending on whether the cell signals are interrupted again or not.
Good writing! PM me if I dont reply here about something urgent-ish!

Re: Black Thursday (Group 10)
Oh, I thought you were editing your first post to include/modify the relevant details. All that you'd need to change would be windbreaker to jacket, rain to snow and like... snow not making noise, pretty much iirc.
Ally seems to have something in the works, and I have plans tomorrow night, so I probably won't reply until Saturday*.

and if you do take the post down to edit, Xian? Can we have it on the hardcore board? The streets is so crowded...
no idea if I can write anymore tonight, my arm is about to fall off. So tomorrow I bet I'll have something up to post.

Ok, no worries. I'll go fix up the post, repost, and have the link back here soonest.
And sure, Hardcore board it is; my post (the first for Black Thursday!) actually ended up on the second page now, lol.

Cleaned up, and surprisingly even longer than the last one. O.o Pretty much retains the tone, though, but makes it clearer that Xian is pretty much stunned at the end.
Good enough, I hope, and passes for a credible experience of the weather and quake together?
