What's a little healthy competition? (Xavier)

Post by Prudence »

Even though it was snowing, the tall killer didn't dress like it bothered her. Because it didn't. She strolled the streets of the city with no real agenda. Just observing. Everything she once planned to do had become a distant memory. An afterthought. Very little mattered to her. Not since Macro vanished without a trace. But maybe even long before that, her desire to give anything any real contemplation or concern had long vanished. She couldn't be sure when it happened. It felt like she had been this way before Cliff left without a trace, yet Prudence couldn't pinpoint the exact day she stopped doing the things she once cared about. When she stopped trying. When she didn't think twice about doing something like shredding her marriage license to bits and tossing it in a fire. Or when she moved to her own place and didn't think about giving Cliff a key. When she stopped trying with her mini's, when she barely spoke to her best vampire friend. When Prudence just existed. It felt like it had been a while since she she found herself like this.

CC had her belief on why Prudence was the way she was, for as long as she had been this way, but everything CC had said seemed like something she pulled out of her ***. A story she made up, or a story with pieces of truth to it, but something CC created for some fucked up personal reason that she hadn't revealed yet. An extension of reality. Sometimes that was the life CC lived. An alternate reality.

So she meandered the streets, in search of something that might strike an interest in Prudence. The clubs seemed more or less the same, as did anything. Be it the QZ, Caverns, Mausoleum or anything else, there was always something to kill. Point and shoot. Repetitiveness. Most the time Prudence didn't even need to focus her abilities or talents to kill something.

There was a sign hanging from a shop. Normally Prudence wouldn't have thought twice about a shop like this. No, normally she would have laughed and went on her way with some sort of remark leaving her mouth or floating about in her mind. But the appeal of winning a prize resounded in her head and so, the woman entered the Game Shop. And almost instantly regretted it.

The type of crowd was no where near her usual sort of company. Not by a long shot. Tables with various games; card, board, system and even old school from when she was growing up. "Haven't seen you before." A guy with dark jeans, sneakers, gray polo and plaid button down said as she stood there, debating on leaving or staying. "Bet you haven't." She said, pushing past him. He either decided to ignore the jab, or didn't get it. "There's a table over there for sign ups. Five bucks a pop per game. The prize listings are with the sign ups. My names Jay. Any questions find me or Tim. We run the game nights." He said it as if he were a proud little peacock. Prudence just mumbled, "Sure, whatever," before going in a little more. Surely something would have to catch her attention?

Scrubbing the blood off his hands took some time, and he trembled throughout, telling himself it wouldn't happen again. Something just went wrong with this one somehow, and hopefully it was a one-time thing, but deep down, he knew it wasn't. He'd killed plenty of times before, but this was different. This was someone he had to dismember after feeding on them, after inadvertently turning them. He'd racked his brain for hours now, trying to figure out a reason for it, and coming up with none. Things just seemed to happen, like his wounds turning into scars instead of going away like they should have. Maybe this was meant to be like that, and if so, it wasn't going to stop.

Oh, God. He had to get out of these bloody, disgusting clothes.

He was thankful for the sewers, but unfortunately for him, there was no way to get directly to the Asylum from that dank place, which meant he had to briefly go above ground and go from there, remaining unseen. He'd have to think of a way to keep from getting so bloody, or just rely on blood packs and small animals. The blood packs weren't too bad, but he enjoyed feeding on humans. It just felt natural. Maybe he could do it once or twice a week, but that would be it. Sooner or later, someone would find those parts.

A shower gave him a chance to scrub off the blood and grime, which brought some relief. He knew better than to stay in and linger on what happened, so after he was done, he put on some fresh clothes and headed outside, not really knowing where he was going to go. Anything was better than staying in and doing nothing but worrying.

He was conflicted when it came to wearing jackets and such in this weather, because he really didn't give a **** about the Masquerade, but he also didn't want to be subjected to staring, so he begrudgingly threw on a scarf and a relatively light coat. For a long time, nothing really seemed to catch his interest, then he happened upon a little gaming shop and smiled. He used to play games whenever he had the time, but he never thought about them now. This new life and Conall seemed to keep him pretty entertained, if not busy. Without giving himself time to back out, he went inside.

A man came up to him not too long after and gave him the standard greeting, and Xavier couldn't help but think that paying five bucks to play a game was a little ridiculous. What happened to real arcades? Cheap ones?

Instead of going straight for a game, he surveyed the room, chuckling at all the dorky teens. There was one person who caught his eye though, and she definitely didn't belong in this crowd. He was confident in saying that she frightened him a little, and rightly so, honestly. That wasn't gonna stop him from approaching her, though.

"Hey, you," he said as he approached, watching her closely.

Prudence was mortified. People actually did this kind of ****? They wasted their nights, sitting around, drinking soda, eating chips and pizza and pretending to be wizards and ****? All of these twats would be some vampire's chow in a matter of weeks and none of them would be the wiser. Some of them would probably even end up dead.

Prudence was about to leave when someone came up next to her and spoke like they knew her. Her blue eyes flicked over the male, remembering where she saw him from. Didn't she kill this guy once? It was hard to remember sometimes. Prudence had killed a lot of people in the few years she had been a vampire. A lot of vampires. Now days, she didn't have much to do with that or bounty hunting either. Just seemed pointless in the end. They always came back. And always ended up being stupid.

"Hey." She said with a nod, still trying to place him. Oh yeah, he had some issues with CC a while back, but apparently so did half the ******* city. And she was sure she had killed him once. Or at least helped kill him. "Xan-no, Xavier, right?" Prudence nudged an elbow out at him, letting it connect to his side. "What's up?" She said, stepping to the side a little bit. She wanted to size him up good. See if he had any weapons on him. She didn't, but that didn't mean she couldn't ******* kill him if he tried some stupid ****. "Ya into this ****? Doesn't seem like something a Sangue would be doing with their free time." Prudence shrugged as she turned to face him now. "I might stay and like sink someone's battleship or something, then hit it. Whaddya thinking about playing?"
