Who I Am [Saige]

Post by Juliet »

<Juliet> She had been back for almost a week, although her businesses were now owned by ‘Cassadee Haskins’ to match the name to the face as she had taken over, but she no longer felt annoyed it day after day. The shock that she could see her reflection once again in the mirror had since come and gone, and things were almost back to normal – at least for the most part as her childer were another story. Reanna thought she wasn’t real. Songbird was trapped elsewhere, and Saige... she wasn’t quite sure as she flipped through her mail while sitting behind her desk in Blood Diamonds. There were a few things she needed to mail out soon and pursing her lips, she glanced towards the clock on the wall before standing up to collect her jacket.

“I’m going out for a little bit, Jessica. Be sure to help Rosetta, if needed.” She called, the soft English accent still strange to her ears unlike the natural Spanish one she’d once had. Her light brown hair was pulled back with a jeweled clip, letting a few strands still fall loosely to frame her face and as she shrugged on the jacket, Juliet listened to the soft clicking of her boots with each step taken towards the elevator. Returning near the holidays had been interesting to say the least, the holiday cheer brightening her mood as it radiated happiness, a strong change from the doom and gloom that she had recently escaped.

<Saige> She had been home long enough to get most of the decorations out to put them up in the house for the christmas spirit. Lights strewn from the ceiling and all the windows, each their own vibrant color in its own right, none of the strands a solid white because she thought that was a bit dull. Tiny little village houses lined the stairs that led up to the second floor, all placed on a fake felt white blanket to resemble a bed of snow. The tree sat to the side of the couch, dressed from top to bottom in lights and shiny garland, colorful baubles and icicle glass ornaments dangling perfectly, the tree looking like it came straight out of a martha stewart magazine.

Looking down at her little pup she smiled, giving a soft giggle as she had caught the tiny little pup chewing on something. "Drop that Care Bear." She instructed gently, bending down to retrieve the wrapper from a decoration from the dogs mouth. "C'mon, lets go for a walk." She smiled, the pup giving an approving bark as she turned and threw away the garbage to grab her coat and dog leash. She threw it on Care Bear, and with that they were out the door headed up the street to walk through the area of Swansdale.

<Juliet> As she stepped outside, the cold wasn’t felt as she pulled her jacket closer around her frame and then stuffed her gloveless hands into her pockets and headed south from the mall. Where had she seen that post office? It was one of the things that she supposed she’d forgotten as her heeled boots crunched on the fallen snow. Even after being in Harper Rock for some time before her turning, she’d never gotten over the way that it froze to the ground and made everything look prettier until it mixed with dirt and made a gray slush. She hoped that she looked warm enough in the pair of black fitted slacks and turtle neck she wore, but didn’t pay much mind to the looks of people in passing enough to care.

When she found herself in Swansdale, Juliet paused as she looked around the area and pursed her lips at the station. Had that all been there the last time she’d been alive? She couldn’t remember and elicited an annoyed exhale before she started walking once more, heading further up the street until a familiar blonde was settled into her sight. “Saige?” Her eyebrow lifted and she knew she sounded a little confused, but there was slight remembrance of Roderic saying that her childe had doubted that she’d return at some point.

The brisk cold didnt much phase her as she stepped out from the entrance to the homes that was Sparrow Lane. Looking both directions before she crossed the street she made sure to zip up her fluffy bubbly white designer jacket and slip on her thin matching white leather gloves in order to hold onto the leash that was tethering her little pup to her wrist. The all black dog stood out against the white contrast of the snow, her little paws padding against the lightly salted concrete as the two strolled along. "Its pretty brisk out tonight pretty lady, we should make this a shorter than normal walk for the sake of your little toesies." She smiled gently, stopping to check for traffic once more before crossing the street again and heading more from Redwood and back towards the station and Sparrow Lane.

Once the station was more in sight she slowed her pace, assuming that little care bear needed to use the restroom at some point, seeing as how small the dog was she figured she was safe to assume such a thing. "Go potty." She instructed, stopping just as a woman with brown hair down the side walk a ways came into sight. Saige thought nothing of it until the woman started to get closer, the way a shark starts to close in on its prey; the way her nerves jumped and bounced in her body. It made her want to do really only one thing; run up to this stranger and hug them as tight as she could. She stood there, staring, mouth slightly agape, Care Bear trouncing through the snow to find a good spot to mark. "I..." She blinked, realizing she was staring at the woman who was walking up on her, this woman who she knew she had never met a day in her life, yet she couldnt help but feel an incredible belonging to her, or with her, next to her, to just be near this complete stranger. Her mind started running in circles trying to answer the questions of who and why, her eyes welling up with slight tears as she struggled against her urge to grab the woman up and spin her around as if she hadnt seen her in years.

She didn’t recall the last time that she’d seen her blonde childe. Her hippy. In fact, aside from Songbird, Juliet hadn’t seen her childer a few days before she took her own life because she knew if she had, she would have chickened out. She’d seen Roderic, but it had been brief, and Nix. Both had made it hard enough to leave, but she knew they’d understand – or at least understood why. The guilt of her selfish need to escape the pain that had been ripping through her day after day rippled through her form as she came closer after the recognition had kept in. In some ways, it reminded Juliet of a punch that had once connected to her stomach during a sparring session, how it had knocked the wind out of her.

Her green eyes looked over the black dog, not recognizing it, but not seeming to mind it as she pressed her lips together when she heard the girl tell it to go potty. She didn’t know what to say or do. Had she ever told Saige that she’d take a new body when she’d die? No, she didn’t think she had. She hadn’t known that little detail until after a short return, another death and then being summoned by another. As she contemplated on this, Juliet focused on the dog’s leash until it began to lightly sparkle like the snow around them. It made it look pretty, like the jewelry that the woman sold on a regular basis to customers around them.

She could smell the tears and when she was close enough, see them and it caused her lips to turn down into a frown. “Why are you crying, bebe?” She affectionate term sounded strange on her tongue with the different accent, but it was just another thing for her to get used to, she supposed. “Are you alright?”
