Re: Properties Supply and Demand Poll
Part of my response would depend on "for karma vs. for IGC?"
I would say that I am interested in properties that are available for IGC. Only 7 of the 49ish properties on the Real Estate list are available for cash (there are even more karma-only properties NOT appearing on that list; e.g., the Walnut Grove Farms). I think that says something about demand right there. We currently already have Farms, Two Story Houses, Crypt Dwellings, and Sewer Dwellings available... all for karma. They don't seem to be selling.
So I marked "other". I think that if we're going to create more for-karma purchases, they have to be NEW things rather than the same old.
I'd, of course, be interested in virtually anything that doesn't cost karma.
If I had to come up with my "other" however, I'd offer:
- MORE TRAILERS. They didn't make your list.
- A smaller version of a farm: a plot of land I can grow stuff with no house or with a one-room shed; available for cash or less karma... I might be persuaded to drop 30-40 karma on something like this. (Maybe? I haven't bought a 75 karma farm, because the going rate for IGC --> karma is so freakin' high that I'd prefer to buy a field of Hydroponics and put them in a cabin. Chicken-spawning isn't worth 75 karma to me.)
- A storage unit: a 2x2 hole in the wall in a huge "parking lot" full of similar units that would allow me to hide myself, lockboxes, and fade portals. If the "parking lot" had roads networked through it to make getting to a far-off unit less energy-intensive... all the better. Probably for cash?
- A mansion. A HUGE house in a gated community (tighten security there somehow?). In the range of a million dollars IGC. Burn through some of that massive money floating about in our pockets.
Also, the Shadow Realm lair appeals, but I'd have to know some things about it first. Is it stationary, or does it move? If it moves, will I know where it is? Can I "decorate" it? Since we can't use powers in the SR, does that mean people can't Uninvited Guest themselves in? If I have Enter Shadows, can I transport myself directly there? Can I stay there more than 24 hours, or re-enter more than once every 48, or do my normal Enter Shadow limitations apply? Et cetera. I might find a way to raise the karma for this, depending on the answers to those questions.
Things I'd also like to see, but can't think of good ways to implement:
- Bunkers (a field of bunkers makes no sense to me, but maybe individual rooms in a large bunker would... maybe that's a Lair thing though).
- Something out in the wilderness that isn't just another cabin. I don't know what is required to keep Fae out: log cabins apparently work, but I don't imagine tents would. Maybe I'm envisioning bunkers again.
I'll come up with more.

ETA: If (and I suspect it is) the reason a lot of the places go for Karma instead of Igc is the fact that they would go quick (especially to those with a lot of cash on hand) leaving little else for others. How about a Cap on certain kinds of buildings (IE only allowed one house for IGC or one Crypt or Farm) after that, they need the karma to get more.

Re: Properties Supply and Demand Poll
The new sorts of buildings in different sorts of areas, usually go quite fast whether they are sold for IGC or karma. There's a group of folks who will buy prime location for tactical reasons regardless of cash/karma.
What you have left now, are the buildings after the tactical lot have bought what they need. So the karma buildings do just languish - or if they aren't on the property list - are forgotten about. I'm not sure as to the logic of having places for sale not on the property list. I've always wondered about that. I bet more would sell if people were aware they were for sale.
I do agree with Wendigo's player though. We need more places available for IGC. Otherwise we're getting into the realms of pay to win, when it comes to the tactics of hiding and such. Especially, as he says, with the karma/cash ratio we have right now. Estimated retail price of karma - 30K. Actual retail price of karma - 130K. lol.
Lets get those IGC dollars spent!

Mostly for karma, sorry. There will always be player housing available for IGC due to the auto lair spawn system. Other player housing that serves no large purpose other than for vanity will usually only be available for karma (tactical advantages of having properties might be true, but you could own 50 apartments bought with IGC and get a similar tactical advantage, so that's almost a moot point). That doesn't include most shops, however, as those can be slightly useful.Wendigo wrote:Part of my response would depend on "for karma vs. for IGC?"
As a business, Path almost isn't even worth our time anymore, so things like this are necessary to keep the updates coming.
However, thanks for the suggestions. Those are pretty good!

Re: Properties Supply and Demand Poll
I agree with what everyone else has said to a greater or lessor degree.
I'd love a farm. But not at the size they are. I garden irl so the idea of all those squares that could be planted on... I would have to use them and then I'd be stuck having to harvest them. And last I checked, thralls can't do that? But still, even if they could? I'd rather a farm that was about half the size they are now or smaller... But.
What I really would love? To be able to buy gardens. In plots of say 4 or 6? That could be attached to any property you already own. I wish (and would be willing to pay karma for) some way we could move 'walls' in our own properties (or at least bought lairs... then I would be much more likely to get one) so we can 're-model' after entertaining. Or whatever reason... ;) I'd go bananas for a place in the SR depending on a lot of what Digo's player brings up and I am still hoping to see that ultra high end apartment building you were planning on selling for igc only. And really anxious for added security as well for all owned real estate.

Beta isn't the money making asset phase, that's Gold.
There's also a difference between finishing the game (to the point where you can call it Gold/Release phase) and making additional updates to the game once it's finished.
I would never dream of being able to make substantial amounts of money that I could live on, on a game that's not complete.
Have you ever heard of Steve Blank and the Business Model Canvas?? It adapts really well to game development. I took the Udacity course back when it was free (I've heard rumors that you need to pay for the certification now).

The places that are able to be bought for IGC aren't all over the city and don't give you the sort of advantage I'm talking about. Having 50 apartments in one block is a bit pointless. You have to have karma to be able to get places in certain areas, and the karma is sold at such inflated prices, that you can't get that much of it that easily.
And that, is hardly going to make people more interested in putting cash into the game. Because it makes it sound like you can't be assed and makes us wonder how long the game will be around for if the developers aren't bothered about fixing bugs and making updates and getting it finished, getting more players in and such.As a business, Path almost isn't even worth our time anymore, so things like this are necessary to keep the updates coming.
