How does ordering the participants by level, then assigning odd-numbered individuals to the right, even-numbered individuals on the left, then randomly assigning pairs based on an even division suck for everyone other than 'me and those like me'?
You literally said "Can we do seeding next time" in your last post. lol
And it sucks because there are prizes for those who get through to certain rounds. Making sure that the high levels are on both sides would usually, almost, guarantee that the higher levels get one of the prizes.
Knocking out some of the higher levels near the beginning by facing them against one another, makes things a whole lot more interesting and even.
S'what David called it; I wouldn't call what I was suggesting in the other topic seeding, per se.
Splitting the group down the middle would still allow for the 2nd and 4th ranked person to face off in round 1. Same as the 1st and 3rd. Having it split before randomizing just makes it more balanced so that there's actually some kind of reasonable doubt about who wins. Round 1 shouldn't decide the winner.
Alternatively, it could be a round robin where the best character wins, flat out.
