OOC: Just a little info to make sure things are clear, Dawn isn't a real vampire, she just thinks she is and since I don't know if Queen Latifah's show can even be seen in Canada I don't mean this to be outing the real vampires of the game... Dawn is just a little on the crazy side.
Dec. 20th 2013

Blue eyes looked back at herself past the woman that stood before her, blocking some of her reflection. Today wasn’t her best of days, so the makeup woman had a job to do tonight. That was something that had been a pain for the producers of the show she was to be on tonight, that it had to be their last recording, that it had to be at night because it was the only time that Dawn could go outside without burning. No matter how many covers and awnings and things there were, if she was outside when it was sunny, she would burn. Which made living in Alaska hard during the summer months when the days were the longest. She sighed as the woman continued to do her make up, touching up dark spots here and there, as well as doing her eyes so they popped off the screen. That was something she wanted, she loved playing up her eyes.

She smiled to her reflection, licking the tips of her fangs. The woman took a step back and you could tell that the idea of the girl with fangs scared her, even if Dawn was five foot nothing and dressed like a 5 year old Spice Girl fan. When the woman left Dawn by herself, Dawn stood and looked around for her microphone. Before she was to be interviewed by the ‘Queen’ she was to sing for the woman, to sing one of her songs. Dawn picked up her Bedazzled microphone and held it in front of her. Her long silvery white hair was flowing down her back, it nearly matched her snow white skin. She almost literally glowed under the florescent lights. Lights that hurt her eyes, she picked up her sunglasses and put them on, smiling for a moment as she looked at herself. The glasses would come off moments before the performance began and would be right back on during the interview.

“Prima Dawna, 5 minutes!” The assistant called through the door, the rest of her band was already setting up on stage so she knew she didn’t need to grab them. She just needed to get her *** going. She checked her outfit out in the mirror one last time, she was wearing a spacy looking silver outfit, the skirt was more like a tutu and the bodice was a tight satin corset that emphasized her thin frame. Her shoes were silver heels made up to look like ballet slippers en pointe. She was literally walking on the tips of her toes as she made her way down the hall and to her spot before the rest of the band. Her drummer pointed to his face, silently reminding her about her glasses. She smiled and pulled them off, tossing them to him before turning around to face the curtain.

Then she heard her name announced by Queen Latifah and the curtains opened, her band started and she started to sing. It was one of her newer songs to promote her new album that had just come out and was already doing great on iTunes. The crowd was great, the music throbbing through the speakers so that she could feel it pulsating through her body.

I get on with life as a singer,
I'm a down to earth kinda person.
I like to read on Sundays,
I like crafting in the week.
I like to contemplate songs.
But when I start to daydream,
My mind turns straight to blood.

Sometimes I look at myself and I look into my eyes,
I notice the way I think about blood with a smile,
Curved lips I just can't disguise.
But I think it's songs making my life worthwhile.
Why is it so hard for me to decide which I love more?
Songs or...
Blood?

I like to use words like 'Bubble Goth,'
I like to use words like 'vampire.'
I like to use words about songs.
But when I stop my talking,
My mind turns straight to blood.

Sometimes I look at myself and I look into my eyes,
I notice the way I think about blood with a smile,
Curved lips I just can't disguise.
But I think it's songs making my life worthwhile.
Why is it so hard for me to decide which I love more?
Songs or...
Blood?

I like to hang out with Laura,
I like to kick back with Sarah,
But when left alone,
My mind turns straight to blood.

Sometimes I look at myself and I look into my eyes,
I notice the way I think about blood with a smile,
Curved lips I just can't disguise.
But I think it's songs making my life worthwhile.
Why is it so hard for me to decide which I love more?
Songs or...
Blood?

I'm not too fond of the sun,
I really hate bad music,
But I just think back to blood,
And I'm happy once again.

Sometimes I look at myself and I look into my eyes,
I notice the way I think about blood with a smile,
Curved lips I just can't disguise.
But I think it's songs making my life worthwhile.
Why is it so hard for me to decide which I love more?
Songs or...
Blood?

Even though it was only 4 or so minutes of singing, it always took her a few minutes after to calm down. When the song was done Queen Latifah came and gave her a hug and promoted Dawn’s CD before they cut to commercials. While they were tearing apart the band equipment and setting up the set for the interviews again, her drummer, Lionel tossed her her glasses again before he walked back to the green room with the rest of the band. She was the face of Prima, so they only wanted to talk to her, plus they were going to ask her about her disease. That was always a thing they never wanted to be around for, so they were happy to let her do all the talking and they would just happily play the instruments while she sang. “Come on Sweetie, let’s take a seat shall we?” Queen Latifah said to her, gently leading her to the couch where they were going to do the interview. Dawn smiled and of course when the hostess spotted the fangs, one delicate brow lifted towards the woman’s hairline.

Her fangs were small, delicate, pretty much like Dawn herself was. Just as they sat down Queen got the word that they were going to commercial soon and to do a segway to it. “After this, we will interview Dawn Chekov, the first ever ‘vampire’.” She said, doing the air quotes when she said ‘vampire’. Apparently, she didn’t believe. Well she probably wouldn’t believe after either but it was always good to get a story out there. At least, that’s what she thought. Then as the commercial break was going, all of the make-up and hair stylists came out of the wood works to make sure that hair and makeup were in place. All the while Queen was watching Dawn as if she had something on her face. “You really believe that you are a vampire?” She asked and it was clear that she was disbelieving. Dawn smiled again and gave a little shrug. “Is there anything you don’t want me to ask about?”

Dawn again smiled, “You can ask whatever you like, I have nothing to hide.” Her tone was calm, happy even, despite the fact that the harsh lights were killing her eyes. Thankfully, the cue guy was giving the countdown for their comeback. “And we’re back with Dawn Chekov of Prima Dawna, the first ‘real vampire’ I have ever heard of. Dawn, What makes you think you are a vampire.”

“Well, I drink blood, that would be the biggest clue I think.” She responded, and the crowd let out varying sounds of things like disbelief and disgust. Dawn of course brushed it off, she was used to things like this, people either didn’t believe or were religious zealots.

“You - You drink blood?” It was clear that Queen Latifah fell into that first category. That was fine with Dawn though as she gave a small nod. “Mind if I ask what your favorite type is?” That question was clearly her just humoring her and try as she might, Dawn couldn’t stop from rolling her eyes before she took a breath.

“Like with transfusions, O is the best.”

“Why do you believe you have to drink blood?”

Now that one sort of annoyed her, but she didn’t let it show. “It’s not a belief, it’s a fact. If I don’t get blood every day or even twice a day, I will be hurting. You see I suffer from Porphyria.”

“If this is a medical disease then why do you call yourself a vampire? It can’t be just because you drink blood.”

“It’s not just because I drink blood, it’s because I need blood, need to drink it. Plus I like the taste of it.”

“There is a story that you once attacked your dentist?”

“I can’t speak about that, Legally speaking.” Dawn said with a slight smirk. It was true, it had happened. Right after he fitted her with her new fangs, she lunged at him.

“So this Porphyria? This forces you to drink blood?”

“Yup!”

“What else does it do that makes you believe you are a vampire?”

“Well there is the burning in the sunlight. Like really burning, not just a slight redness, I get boils and blisters and can die if I stay in the sunlight too long.”

“So are all ‘vampires’ just people with this disease?”

Dawn gave a shrug “I’m by far no medical expert. Even with my disease. However, people do believe that historical people claiming to be vampires did have forms of Porphyria, Vlad the Impaler, or Dracula as many call him, was one such figure. Like him, I don’t just need blood, I thirst for it.” She could tell as she said that, the host before her gave a slight shudder and seemed to lean back, away from the small woman in platform shoes and a tutu. Again, Dawn showed little interest in the woman’s fear or disgust, which ever it may be, but went on to say “I don’t usually take unless offered but sometimes **** happens.”

It was at that time that she noticed that they were getting the signal to wrap things up because it was time to end the show so Dawn waited to see if there were any last questions and the Queen did not fail her. “So what’s next?”

“I’m off to do a stint in a new hospital in Canada, apparently there is some new treatment that someone would like me to try and they tell me that it will help with all of my problems. Assuming it goes well I’ll be doing a tour of Canada as well, but first I need to see how it goes.”

“Well, we wish you the best and it was a pleasure having you on today.”

“Thank you for having me, it was a blast.”
Dawn said but there was clearly a hint of sarcasm in her voice but it was easily hidden by her sweet smile that she added onto the end. After all, a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down - right?

Dec 26th, 2013

Dawn glanced up over her book on crafts as the rowdiness of her band caught her attention. Usually people had a problem with their female singers traveling with a bunch of males, but to Dawn these men were like her family, her brothers, and her brothers were currently having some sort of wrestling match in the middle of the bus as it traveled towards the address she had given the bus driver.

Like she had told Queen Latifah, this wasn’t just the first stop of her tour, this was what would hopefully be the beginning of a new treatment to help her with her disease, to help her manage it better so that she wouldn’t feel like crap all the time. They had just passed into Canada earlier and now her tour bus was to take her to the hospital first so that she could meet with the doctor that had called her. She remembered that day pretty well because it had been odd and out of the blue. How the doc had got her number in the first place was still something she planned to ask when she got there but she remembered the opening line, the hook that had her traveling from L.A. California to Harper Rock, Canada.

“Is this Dawn Chekov?”

“Yes…?”

“We have something that we think will interest you pertaining to your interesting condition. How would you like to be able to be able to go longer between feedings and feel things you’ve never felt before?”

“Tell me what I need to do!”

“Donny!” Dawn pulled herself out of her thoughts and ‘hmmed’ as she looked up at her drummer and best friend. “We’re here, you going to call us when you are done or just meet us at the hotel after?”

“I’ll call Frederick to come pick me up once I am done, I don’t know how long I’ll be here tonight.” She said as she got up, tucked her phone into her corset against her chest and pulled on her large faux-fur jacket and gloves. “You boys get some rest.” She said with a wink and then hurried into HR General.

“Hi, I’m Dawn Chekov, I’m here for...”

“Greetings Dawn.” A voice called, a voice she knew from the call. Her blue eyes turned to meet this illusive doctor.

Her eyes locked on the male, his voice was familiar because it was the one on the other line when she found out that their could be a far better treatment for her condition. Now, as she looked at this male, she wondered if it was possible that he was a real doctor. He was so young, and doctors were never really good looking, not in real life. However, this one was - his Brunette hair was brushed back and well coiffed, his blue eyes were almost hypnotizing and drew her in. On top of that, his smile was blatantly sexual in nature, as if he were looking to seduce every female within a city block. Dawn smiled, unruffled though, he looked like he had walked off the cover of GQ as he gave her that smile once again and moved to shake her hand.

"It's good to finally meet you, Dawn." He said as he took her hand, giving it a shake while also using it to lead her down the hallway. "How are you feeling today?" He asked as he looked her over and then opened a door to his office, holding it open until she walked passed him. "And please, have a seat." He added as she passed, her long platinum hair swaying past her waist as she moved. Dawn did as directed, taking her seat and pulling her hair in front of her so that she didn't sit on it.

"I'm doing as well as can be expected for not feeding for a few days or even having a transfusion." She said softly, her Russian accent coming through even though she was born and raised in Alaska. "What is this treatment you mentioned to me on the phone?"

"Boy, you like to get right to the point don't you?"

She licked the tips of her fangs and laughed a bit "Exactly, in my condition, every minute counts. Especially when I haven't fed. What's the plan?"

"There are real powers at play in this city, these powers, these vampires, it's like nothing you've ever had. The power, once you taste it you will understand. This is what you need to do..." He stated and then started to go through telling her exactly what it was she needed to do, what she needed to look out for. He also told her to hang out in cafes. He had asked her how she was with a computer and when he found out that she was good enough he handed her a flash drive with things she would need, need to hack the systems. He told her that was the best place to find the people, the vampires, she would need to feed from. It was these people, their powers, their blood, that would help temper her need for feeding as often. The more she drank, the longer she would be able to go between feedings. He asked her to keep in touch with him, to let him know if she had found vampires and who they were.

While she told him that she would, she knew that she probably wouldn't, if these were vampires, these were her kind, her kin. While she would have to feed on them, she wouldn't give them away, she wouldn't allow others to know they were around, especially if they would welcome her once they knew her, knew who she was, knew what she was. She had no powers, but she was a vampire in her own mind, a blood drinking creature of the night. She had been that way all her life. The sun burned her skin, caused boils to raise on her porcelain skin. If she didn't get transfusions of blood, or drink blood she would writhe in pain, and her parents had hospitalized her many a time for such things. Those hospitals, their medications, the isolation, it was enough to drive her batty. Now, now she had a plan to feel normal, though she had to admit the idea of powers beyond her belief was a very very tempting offer.

By the end of the of their meeting, she knew what she was going to do. She was going to find vampires she had never met and taste of their blood to see if the doctor before her was telling her the truth.

Months later though, she found herself back in the hospital, hooked up to IVs and getting transfusions, not because she had not found more vampires, but because more vampires had found her. They hit her while she slept, beat her and left her for dead, and now as she lay in the bed, that doctor once again standing over her. "Who were they?"

"I didn't get a chance to ask their names, ******. You could have warned me that other vampires disliked Blood Thieves. That's what you are, isn't it? What you made me?" And to her dismay, he smirked like she had just figured out the joke. Before he saw it coming, she had his pen in her hand and was driving it into his neck. As he fell onto her, she mirrored his smirk and closed her eyes, allowing herself to fall back into the darkness so that she could heal.
