Granuaile jerked abruptly awake and shot up into a sitting position. Her hands leapt to her temples as she groaned from the onslaught of a splitting headache. Her eyes glanced around the room, but couldn't quite focus. Her mind was drowning in a sea of confusion and pain. Her ears were filled with a rapid drumming sound she couldn't quite pin down and dozens of little scents hit her all at once, but shortly one began to drown out all the others. She followed the source of the sound and scent and finally her eyes focused on a small dog laying near her feet. She knew the name for the breed, but at the moment it seemed so unimportant, right now her instincts were telling her it was one thing: Food.

Still woozy she began to reach out to the animal, her tongue running along her teeth and to her surprise finding a pair of long sharp fangs there. That... was wrong wasn't it? Suddenly images of a fiery haired woman in a tattered shirt beheading a monster rushed into her head, a woman who also had revealed fangs when she smiled. Granuaile paused, her hand hovering a few inches away from the dog. Slowly she started to come back to her senses and she closed her eyes for a moment as she collected herself. When she opened them again she looked around the room once again, but this time her eyes were alert and taking in everything she could make out. It certainly wasn't anyplace she recognized, definitely not her hotel room. This looked like someone's personal room, perhaps in a house or apartment.

When her eyes came back to the dog before her she recoiled her hand as if she'd been burned. Dear god, had she really been about to attack the poor thing? What would make her want to do that? Why the hell did the sound and smell of it still give the pain clawing at the belly a twist? She felt like a starving person who'd had a sandwich dangled in front of her. That was just plain wrong though. Her hands slid down from her temples to touch the new fangs in her mouth, feeling out their size and shape. Was she dreaming or... did what she was thinking happened actually occur? Why was it so hard to remember anything after going to investigate the mausoleums? Disjointed, broken scenes tumbled through her mind and she tried to determine what had been real and what was a dream.

Her left hand dropped to the bed she sat on, one she couldn't remember getting into, to steady her. Her right hand slid down along her neck until she felt a pair of odd marks there that, unless she was going completely crazy almost seemed to be shrinking under her fingertips. The image of the fiery haired woman from before hit her again, but this time she was biting Granuaile's neck. Granuaile shook her head slightly as if trying to get loose of the image, but it stayed with her. Her attention was brought back to the here and now when she saw the small dog wake up with a squeaky little doggy yawn.

The pug, that was the name of the breed, yipped at her and grinned a little doggy grin with his tongue hanging out before walking over to the woman laying in the bed beside Granuaile. Granuaile's eyes bulged slightly as she realized she was not along in the bed. She'd been so absorbed in herself she'd completely missed the fact that she was sharing the bed with someone else. Upon closer inspection it was the woman she'd seen earlier in her dream, or memory, or whatever. The redhead still had on the same tattered shirt Granuaile envisioned her in before and the state of it might have made her blush if she hadn't been a bit disturbed by the odd stains all over it.

Why was she in bed with this woman? What exactly had happened last night, it had just been last night right? Why the hell was her stomach twisting up in odd sensation that felt like starving and dying of thirst all at once?

Summoning up her courage she reached out and started scratching the dog behind its ears as she cleared her throat.

When Wolffyn first started to awaken, the first thing she noticed was that Winnie was no longer nestled in her arms. The soft snores of the pug could be heard coming from the foot of the bed however, so Wolffyn wasn't concerned.

Until she heard the newly turned fledgling beside her starting to stir. Immediately, the older vampire was on high alert. She lay still but was listening to everything that was going on as her new childe met her beloved pet. One wrong move than might mean danger for the little dog and Wolffyn would rip the other woman's throat out.

Razor claws extended as the moment of truth was upon them as a slight movement in the bed besides indicating that the freshly reborn vampire was reaching out a hand. Stiffening, Wolffyn got ready to roll over and strike out before Winnie could become breakfast in bed but then stopped as she sensed the arm being pulled back just before the pug woke up and then greeted her bed mates with a small bark.

The little dog marched up to Wolffyn's face and started to lick. Unable to contain herself and play possum any longer, Wolffyn started to laugh as she saw the woman whose name she still didn't even know reached over to pet Winnie. The other redhead cleared her throat but said nothing and Wolffyn sat up in bed as the wiggling pug rolled over demanded belly rubs.

"In a minute, Winnie." Wolffyn said softly, her smile plain in her voice. Scooping up the pug in her arms and the dog's curled up tail did the closest thing to wagging it could manage, while Wolffyn turned to face the mysterious redhead and held up the dog to face her.

"Winnie, I think you may have a new friend to meet. And myself as well. At least we could hope that we will all end up as friends. We shall see..." The pug responded by sneezing in the other woman's face and wiggling even more as Wolffyn couldn't help but chuckle and then put the dog down on the floor and then getting out of bed herself to stand and face the fledgling.

"But I suppose we should exchange names first ourselves, childe. I am your Sire. I'm known as Wolffyn. Only time will tell if I will ever share my real name with you. But you. I insist that you tell me yours. And then we'll get you feed and it will be time for your lessons to begin. I'll be damned if I do as crap of a job guiding you and my sire did with me."

The last comment was punctuated with a toss of her hair as Wolffyn put her hands on her hips and stared unblinkingly into her childe's green eyes.

The little dog, named Winnie apparently, made its way into the hands of the other woman as she sat up facing Granuaile. At first she was a little confused by the other woman's words, but even as she opened her mouth to ask a question the little dog let her have it. Granuaile's eyes bulged and she fought down the urge to spit to try and erase the vile taste from her mouth. She grabbed the bottom edge of her black long sleeved t-shirt and was about to lift it to wipe her face, only to realize it was covered in dust and even what looked like little bits of rubble and...

Are those drops of blood? Whose? Mine?

Granuaile gulped softly as she swallowed her confusion. Everything from last night was all a jumble and it felt hard to tell if any of the things she did recall were real. Granuaile bit her lip for a moment, she desperately wanted to get the doggie mucus off her face and... ew... her tongue, but she certainly didn't want tomb dust to replace it. Without giving it much beyond a second thought she peeled the long sleeve shirt off, inside out, and used it to wipe the dog's sneeze from her face and though her tongue tasted like cotton when she wiped it off it was a vast improvement over dog snot. Thankfully she still had on the black tanktop she'd been wearing under the shirt, but she worried about the impression she was making on the other woman.

Then again she did wake up in bed with her. Maybe it was no more than she'd seen already. Granuaile frowned ever so slightly. This was why she rarely got drunk, she didn't like not knowing where she'd been or what she'd done. When she brought her attention back to the other woman and her dog she realized the pug had been let down to romp about on the floor and the other woman had gotten up and was walking around the bed to stand before her. Something twinged deep within her stomach and that feeling of hunger gnawed at her again. Watching the dog scamper off she felt like a starving woman watching cheesecake get up and leave.

The woman began talking to her again and she obviously remembered the previous night perfectly, there wasn't a hint of confusion in her voice. She referred to Granuaile as her child? No... the pronunciation was off, she called her a childe. What was that? The next bit was even more confusing, she referred to herself as Granuaile sire. Granuaile was familiar with several definitions for that word and none really applied to women. There was one welcome bit of information forthcoming, she finally had a name to pin to the woman before her. Wolffyn. Apparently it wasn't her real name but something was better than nothing. Oddly, Wolffyn was demanding her name and insisting on a real one.

Odd... If we were together all night why are we just now getting to the whole exchanging names part?

Then Wolffyn started talking about lessons and how she would guide her. What lessons? Guide her in what? She tried once more to think back to what happened the night before and slowly, painfully slowly, peices of memory began to slide into place like a puzzle falling into order. She had been the mausoleums last night after all. She'd been investigating things here in town after all the spooky stories. It was Wolffyn she'd seen down there.

She was the woman with the sword! Holy crap I better figure out how to stay on her good side!

She remembered when Wolffyn confronted her, but during their talking the memories grew fuzzy again. Then there was nothing. A big hole in the middle of the puzzle. Still, now she at least knew enough to make a few guesses. Wolffyn... well she must have been a real vampire after all. Despite what she'd seen at the time a little part of Granuaile had still doubted the truth. After who knows how many fruitless attempts at finding out if the supernatural was real she had been having trouble believing that she'd have proof just drop into her lap like that. She vaguely remembered that she'd made a final plea to Wolffyn. A plea to make her into a vampire as well, rather than kill her for the things she'd seen.

She must have done it. That's the only thing that makes sense. Well, not makes sense really. None of this makes any sense, it's incredible, shocking and flies in the face of everything science had said since... well, ever, but it is the only thing that fits. So... continuing that line of crazytown logic, does that mean that childe is a term for a vampire you've created? And I guess sire is the term for the vampire doing the creating?

Granuaile took a deep breath and caught the flip of Wolffyn's hair at the edge of her vision and realized her gaze had drifted to the floor as she'd been piecing things together. Her fellow redhead stood there, hands on her hips, staring at her own eyes. She blanched a little at the intensity of that stare and she took a deep breath, just now realizing she hadn't been breathing at all until now, and prepared herself to answer her sire. She stood up a little straighter and tossed back her own hair, two could play this game. She was thankful as hell Wolffyn chose to spare her, but she wasn't about to be intimidated or bullied. Especially not if this was going to be the beginning of a long relationship and she kind of doubted that she'd just be allowed to up and take off. She was in this new life for the long haul now. She smiled softly, just a slight quirk upwards at the corner of her mouth, and she returned Wolffyn's steely emerald gaze with one of her own.

"You'll have to give me a moment, this is all a little confusing. I seem to be missing a bit of last night. If what I think happened actually took place..." She reached up and touched the side of her neck without thinking, "Then I'm willing to bet I can blame it on losing a few brain cells. Still, seems a small price to pay to keep on living. Or, un-living. Whatever you call it. You really are a vampire then and... now so am I?" The slight upward tone in her voice betrayed her questioning uncertainty.

After a slight pause her tone shifted again, becoming absolutely firm as her lips thinned a little. "My name is Granuaile. That is my real name, but right now that's all your getting, sire or no. I left friends behind when I came here and until I'm sure you won't go hunt them down so no one knows I'm missing, the rest of my name stays mine."

She fought down the urge to blink the face of Wolffyn's unrelenting stare, though she did drop her own gaze for just a moment. When she met Wolffyn's eyes again her amusement was plain as eyes brightened and her grin had them crinkling slightly at the corners. A slight flush betrayed her on her freckled cheeks as she spoke up, "Uh, before we start in with the lessons and guiding though sensei... Maybe you could grab a fresh shirt? This one got these big distracting slashes in it."

Listening to her childe's confusion, Wolffyn softened a little. It never occurred to her that the woman might not remember everything. At least it wasn't complete loss like hers had been. She really should have anticipated the possibility.

One thin eyebrow shot up as the fledgling gave out only her first name and and insisted that she wouldn't provide any more than that. It was something Wolffyn could respect. Wanting to protect those you had to leave behind. She briefly thought of Fionn and the returned her focus to the woman in front of her, Granuaile.

A song popped in her head, and Wolffyn grinned. A few lines of the lyrics from The Dreadnoughts 'Grace O'Malley' running through her head as the other redhead's eyes met her own. 'Granuaile the Pirate Queen, Flashing eyes so wild and green...' Granuaile's gaze seemed to drop for a moment and when their eyes met again, the look in her childe's had changed to one of good humor. What the woman said next however, had Wolffyn rolling hers.

"Sensei?" She chuckled. "Whatever..." laughing a little, she looked down at the mention of her top and didn't see anything that bad, certainly nothing was showing that Granuaile hadn't seen before on her own self. "I'll change later. First, I'm going to do something that will help you with your hunger and then go downstairs to get you some blood bags."

Walking around the bed to sit beside the other woman, Wolffyn placed a gentle hand on her arm as she softly spoke; "This might feel odd but it won't hurt, it will help." And then blood healed her new childe a few times. Wolffyn didn't have enough juice to do it as many times as it would take for Granuaile to be full, but at least the fledgling would be able to relax while she had to wait for the blood bags.

Standing up again, Wolffyn pointed out the bathroom. "You can clean up in there while I'm gone, you have Mooncalf blood on you. and go ahead into my closet and see if there is anything that will fit if you decide you want a shower. Plenty of towels in the bathroom."

With that, she took her leave, whistling for Winnie who was quick to follow her out the door and down the stairs. As she went, Wolffyn cast a spell that would force her new child to stay upstairs. Humans often visited on the first floor and it wouldn't do for the new vampire to bite any of Serenity's friends before Granuaile even got to meet the head of the family.

She sighed as Wolffyn completely ignored her concerns about the tattered state of Wolffyn's shirt. It became quickly evident that Wolffyn just didn't understand why Granuaile might feel awkward. Well, seems that an awkward conversation was going to be due, and soon. She waited on the bed as Wolffyn came around and sat beside her, promising to do something to help with the hunger gnawing at her belly. A few moments after Wolffyn laid her hand on Granuaile's arm there was a odd sensation in her stomach. The hunger that had been plaguing her started to lessen bit by bit and she suddenly felt more full... as if she'd eaten recently. It was a really strange feeling.

As soon as Wolffyn was done with whatever the heck it was she did she was back up and about, telling her where the bathroom was and to go clean up. Which, she had to admit, actually did sound like a good idea. A shower sounded wonderful at the moment. She looked after Wolffyn as she stepped out of the room and whistled, presumably calling the dog Granuaile had seen earlier.

It felt like had a hundred questions, but she decided they could wait. For now she was going to go wash up. She stepped into the bathroom and stripped out of her ruined clothing, crinkling her nose at them. A night in the catacombs and a healthy dose of monster blood had them looking beyond any hope of recovery. She cranked up the hot water and stepped into the steam-filled shower letting the hot water wash away all the dirt and much from the night.
