If Digo rp'd always taking the heads he could be "The Harper Rock Headhunter" or just "The Headhunter". Just thought I'd toss that out there... (pun intended if anyone gets the reference or not. lol :D )

Sometimes how they kill influences the nicknames given to them by the media and sometimes it doesn't. There are many influences to choose from when it comes to picking a nickname. And not many serial killers leave "signatures" on their victims contrary to portrayals in movies or even in books.

One time a serial killer might take a woman's underwear, the next time he may take her bra. Already, there's been a change.

Digo can't help but to kill Blood Thieves when he sees them. It's a compulsion. He's not going to take the time to mark the body or do whatever he wants to body. He's focusing on killing them and being done with it.

Signatures and MOs are two different things. Where they buried and how old their victims aren't considered to be a "signature".

Perhaps I shouldn't have been lazy in my wording, and used proper terminology to clarify. In the end, I'm just referring to factors that link cases/make them similar/make them identifiable...whether it be a signature, or an MO. :D And now...off to develop my own character >_>

My fascination with criminology and serial killers is showing, isn't it. :|

I like the TSK killer one that is cool and so do not know what HRK would mean. Hunt, Rip, Kill as in he hunts them and rips their heads off to kill them

Basically - Everything Kleo said. lol. That's exactly what I was trying to say in my initial post, and why I asked if Digo had anything 'special' he liked to do. Just because his compulsion is to kill BTs, doesn't mean that there's not a compulsion to make it known it was him, or to kill them in a specific way.

And the taking of underwear and then the taking of a bra is still the taking of something. In your example, it's lingerie. But in general, the taking of a trophy is a pattern in and of itself.

Taking of lingerie isn't considered a signature though.

BTK sending letters, that's a signature.
The Zodiac Killer sending letters and such, that's a signature.

Taking of trophies isn't a signature. Taking of a trophy is for a serial killer and a serial killer alone. It's not make him get caught or anything. It's for his own personal gratification and for him to be able to relive his special moment.

And not all serial killers took trophies for themselves.

Digo doesn't need anything "special" to make him an official serial killer. If you read the initial post, he even said that initially no one is personally going to be able to tie Digo to the killings.

You don't need to have a signature to be a serial killer nor do you need to take trophies to be a serial killer.

Assuming the taking of the lingerie is in fact to be kept as a trophy. A killer could strip a victim of their undergarments, with no intention of keeping it. It could be more along the lines of humiliation or a deeper rooted issue.

Regardless, taking of souvenirs is considered a signature- the "needs and pattern" of the offender. If they do it every time, for example- that's a trademark, whether they intended it or not.

That's why I said that not all serial killers take trophies.

And it's still not considered a signature. It's a part of their MO; what they feel is needed to be done to complete the killing.

I beg to differ.

M.O. = "success of crime"

I. Victim/location selection, means of attack, use of weapon, planning, means of transport

II. Valuables taken

III. Evidence left behind

Signature = "needs and patterns of offender"

I. Wound patterns, sex acts, means of control, rituals, talk

II. Souvenirs taken

III. Evidence destroyed

That's all I'm gonna say. Off I go now, for real this time <.<
