Aura Tracking

Post by Sundial »

  • Can someone explain how aura tracking works, please? the description isn't that clear. 'alerts you when you enter the same area / building as the person you are tracking.'

  • what is considered an 'area'?
  • if the building is an apartment building with multiple floors, do you need to go to each floor?
  • on each floor do you need to enter each apartment?
  • same as above but instead of apartment it could be cabin, crypt, house, shop.

It alerts you when you enter the same area as the target. An 'area' is defined as a place that is entirely connected - each time you go through a 'door' or take an elevator, you're switching areas.

So if Nix was in the hypothetical Beta Towers, Apartment 2003 F2, upon entering each of the following, you would get...
  • Beta Towers: nothing
  • Beta Towers F20: nothing
  • Apartment 2001: : nothing
  • Apartment 2001 F2: Ping!

well, that kinda makes aura tacking kinda LAME!

it doesn't do anything other than save you ....what is it now? .5 energy if you were to track for whoever you're hunting. Sure .5 energy adds up if your doing it 10 times per floor, but a seeker power that costs 20 pxp should be able to sense whoever from a less precise spot, in my opinion, like from the elevator if they're on that floor or at the least from the apartment door (inside) no matter what apt floor they are on. hmph! also, seeker bridges telepath/mystic, neither of which can get into locked areas, which seems to me to be something needed for a bridge that is all about finding peeps.

i guess that kinda makes psychometry more useful, right? it's supposed to sense the person if they have been in a building within the last 24 hrs, i think. now, what if the person was summoned into a building would psychometry work?

thanks lyssa

If the person was summoned into an apartment and you track in the lobby, they were never in the lobby, so your psych track reading will give you nothing.

Aura tracking isn't really useful for an active hunt - it's useful to activate if you know the target usually stays out in the open or if they're tracked to a building in a certain district.

aurascreen relic blocks aura tracking?

untraceable blocks aura tracking, eye spy, triangulate and psychometry (all tracking powers)? Does it turn off at day change or sunrise and do you get a message saying you can't use one of the seeker powers if the person has used untraceable?

any other powers / relics that block tracking?

Alter Ego blocks Eye Spy and Triangulate - can still be psych and aura tracked.
Aurascreen cloak blocks psych tracking on areas you've exited with 75+ energy
Untraceable blocks triangular and physically tracking - can still be psych tracked, aura tracked, eye spied.

All powers stop at day change.

cool, thanks for clearing that up for me.

the description for untraceable just says it blocks powers, so should be reworded at some point.

Yup. Untraceable should literally mean, untraceable. Not just 'blocks 1 power and someone's sense of 'smell''

What is Aura tracking was more like a hot/cold game? Instead of getting nothing the person is getting warmer or colder with the direction they are going? Meh, just an idea.
