Re: Wraiths
Why?
How many vamps existed pre-holocaust? I'd say the odds are still tipped to pre-holocaust vamps. Especially as you're not allowed to summon a wraith of a deleted vamp without the permission of the deleted vamps player or it's god moding.

Re: Wraiths
hrm.. that makes me wonder, would it matter when the wraith was summoned? If it was summoned just after receiving the power (shortly after power creation) there is a smaller chance of a new vampire being pulled out, instead of now where it would be higher?

Re: Wraiths
Yup, I was right. All dead vamps go to the SR.....
Which means that with this....When a vampire dies, he or she goes into the Shadow Realm; a sort of limbo realm of darkness and the spirits of vampires. Before 2011, no vampire had ever returned from this place.
There are a HELL of a lot more dead pre-holocaust vamps than there are post.Vampires have been around for thousands of years, but were all killed off (except for 1) by humans in 1813.

Re: Wraiths
I was told that the wraiths had to die in the area. Hence my assumption that by now the modern vamps probably outnumber the older ones.

Re: Wraiths
In terms of changes to Canon, and information that isn't on the Wiki, I think we just have to roll with it. ESPECIALLY in Beta. Just because limitations aren't specifically spelled out doesn't mean they shouldn't exist, and sometimes we need to be willing to accept that our Wraiths are lying about their age, or they're so freakin' insane that they THINK they were actually an Apostle of Christ or something.
Point being, there's more than one way to navigate changes to Canon. Having authored a number of worlds for TT RPGs, I totally sympathize with David not being able to spell out every limitation to every power and every single moment in history.
I've always referred to Donovan as having a mask that appeared to be subtly smiling. If I have to chalk that up to Digo slowly losing his mind, so be it. I don't really understand why this is such a big deal. There's an RPP Trait for having an old Wraith. If you want it, buy it, and then claim that's the way it was. I don't think anyone expects you to buy a new Wraith when you buy the power: I certainly didn't.

Re: Wraiths
Oh there's plenty of ways to navigate change, no-one's saying there isn't. But some changes, could massively affect a charries back story - such as this one, and even the one where the wraiths were barred from being over 600 years old. As soon as things started being RP'd that weren't right - RP mods should have picked up on it and stopped it. Or David should have made an edit/update/reminder somewhere for people before things went too far.
Correct things as soon as they come up - fine. Don't change things years down the line - unless it's a game story update.

The only limitation on the wraith is how old it is. If you want an old, old one - you need the ancient wraith RP power. But I'm not sure what the top limit is on a normal wraith and an ancient one.
Sleipnir's awesome! Reganleif isn't really a valkyrie, she just worked at a restaurant with a Norse theme thingy. Soooo, Sleipy may not be a real eight-legged horse, maybe the wraith just pretends he is. ''Regan's got her own special kind a crazy'' i think you said, so why can't her wraith be a part of it, too?
It seems like god-modding to say that wraiths have to be this or that. They may really be human spirits or whatever but they should have the option to pretend they are whstever they want to be. lol

Yes, Slep does rock. Zo enjoys pretending to give the 'ghost horse' an 'apple' when she finds him.
Now basing things on what is being said here now, what about the rps we did based around the histories of the Wraith Guides? Was that all just a dream or accepted into the flow of established history. Zo's Wraith 'Dahlia' was used in mine as one of Cheemat's actual childers when alive. So do I put out a request to delete everything written using Zo's wraith in that context or what?
This overall concept does get a bit annoying. Someone finding an 'error' after time and effort has been spent by others building on a concept. You basically have to rewrite established histories or disrupt any long term ideas you may have had.

Re: Wraiths
Regan - It all plays into 'what's a wraith'. lol. Cause I don't know, but there's nothing on the wiki about wraiths being able to change how they look. So Sleip can pretend to be a horse, just as Regan pretends to be a Valkyrie, but anyone looking at him could be seeing a humanesque form? Cause the wiki def says that all wraiths were vampires, and David's said before that animals can't become vampies.
Zo - Yup. SO much has been done before, there's a lot of Solace history based on what Robert's learned from wraiths summoned and in the SR. There's not a chance I can go back and change all of that now. It completely changes EVERYTHING Robert knows and is, as well as a number of other folks.

Re: Wraiths
Basicly what i said what wraiths Physicaly are is solid . What batshit crazy they think they are in their own mind is up to how insane they have possibly went or what they actually want us to know about them or what the character has made up in their heads about this translucent blob that is speaking to them the mind does all sorts of things to rationalize or cope . Someone can make up anything Long as they know the basic solid facts of what Wraiths are wont change .
