Please spam this thread to everyone, just to make sure they read it, as it seems not everyone reads RP planning. :)

So, it seems that people don't understand what Solace actually is, how it works, or what it's aim is. So this thread will hopefully explain it a bit as well as being a place for anyone and everyone to ask questions. Hopefully, some players might have some charries that may even want to join. I can hope right?

Solace is a community centre first and foremost and the building is located SW of Newborough Train Station. The building is based on a log cabin, in the woods, and has moss growing on the outside of it to camouflage it and help it blend into the scenery. The whole wall beside the river is made of green tinted, one way glass, so from the inside you can look out, but you can't see in.

THIS is a map - though it's upside down - to let you know what's there, and it's now all decorated on grid. The building is open for everyone to come and go as they please to use the facilities, and everyone is welcome. There are actually crafting benches, ritual altars, shops, ATM and computers in there, as well as one of the arcade machines. There's a camera at the door, and usually Robert will always email someone who comes in to ask if they need help or advice or anything. Upstairs, on the first floor, are a number of bedrooms and bathrooms that are available to be used IC as someone's home. They're there for the homeless and people who don't have, or can't go to, their own home for any number of reasons. If you want to use one and decorate it, just let me know and then send me the links to the images and I'll put them up for you.

IC, there are various classes and activities offered and arranged for the regulars. There are work placement schemes, skills classes - to improve your chance at getting a job or a better job than you already have, crafts, childcare, all holidays are celebrated and catered for, there are clothes and food for the homeless and in need, counselling services and they even fund medical bills if asked/needed. There's an Orphanage that's run by Solace too, so all sorts of things there for kids - and where the childcare takes place. You name it, they run it. Anything at all that's going to benefit the community and the city, they do. Finally, they run self defence classes. These are mainly just like any self defence classes you'd find at a gym or community centre, but now and again there are special classes which do teach people how to defend against vampires and their powers, as well as teaching them all about vampires and the good ones and the bad ones.

The people in Solace are aiming for integration between humans and vampires, so are doing all they can to show the humans that there's nothing to fear from most vampires - while helping people protect themselves, and the city, from those who should be feared in their minds. They are pacifists at heart and abhor violence, however they will not stand by and let themselves or loved ones be attacked - so will pick up weapons in defence. Think of them like bees. They work away and care not a jot about anything else, until they're poked repeatedly. At which point, they come out stinging.

Solace itself is NOT religious. There is a religious part which is above and beyond Solace and the work that's done there, however that is known by a completely different name. Being a part of Solace does NOT mean you have to take your charrie down a religious route, that is a completely separate thing all together - but which you're welcome to explore if you want. I think this is where the confusion has come in, based on the IC bad mouthing that goes on, so hopefully this thread will have sorted that one out.
