A Few Hacking Changes

Post by Mooncalf »

In order to give pro and anti vampiric secrecy characters more options, the evidence hacks have changed slightly.

[*] You now have the option to upload evidence files to the human community immediately, without even knowing what's on them. This can be done with the command "Upload(Evidence)", and will also be selectable on the Commander app dropdown. Uploading immediately works the same as deleting immediately. You won't get to find out if the evidence was about anyone in particular, but it's the fastest way of bumping the city alert levels or lowering them. The information uploaded or deleted via this action will not get any specific vampires on the violations list.

[*] When you transfer a file, you now have additional options, IF the evidence points to a vampire in particular. The complete list is as follows:
  • - Release this evidence to humans?
    - Delete all trace of evidence?
    - Report to Crownet [and leave evidence on the system]?
    - Report to Crownet and delete from this system?
    - Report to Crownet AND leak evidence to humans?
Deleting or uploading as well as reporting to Crownet has the obvious consequences, which are the same as if you chose to simply do one of the first 2 things. Deleting lowers the city alert level, while leaking evidence to humans raises the city alert level. Choosing the middle option will report the evidence without affecting the city alert level one way or the other.

This was all done to give people a choice. For example, say your character was anti-secrecy but they also wanted to report certain enemy violators to Crownet, they could pick option 5. But if they don't like bounty hunters, or their friend was named on the evidence file, they might instead choose to delete all trace of the evidence without even reporting it to Crownet.

[*] The option to delete or upload inconclusive evidence will also be available soon.
