Ven's Journal

Post by Mkvenner »

Not really sure what I’m doing with this, really. Never really kept a diary or anything - it’s never been my style, but seeing as how I’ve now got an eternity to work with it seems like it might be a decent idea. Make sure nothing gets lost and I remember it, and all that good stuff. So here goes nothing, I guess.

I’m in a new city. Not sure how I got here, but I’ve been here about a year now, finding my feet. Still don’t really know that many people, but I’ve worked out a few ways I can earn and that’s always handy, really. Speaking of, I’m working on getting my hands on some real estate that isn’t my apartment so I can open a bar. Hopeful that’ll work out well, and if not - at least I tried, right? Nothing ventured nothing gained. Speaking about my apartment though, some kid broke in a while back. Think he’s a human, not like me, but I don’t hold that against him. Seemed like a good lad, so I let him stay. He steals cars, or something. Each to their own and all that. He does ride, though, so that was a mark in the ‘pros’ column right off. Met some other bikers too, on my travels, and we seem to get along quite well. Should think about starting an MC or something at some point. Would be good to have a club again. New club for a new life? Makes sense, really.

The rest of the year’s been pretty slow, though. Basically the same cycle of killing zombies to sell their ears, or breaking and entering to do basically the same thing with whatever I steal. Have got more interested in tinkering with stuff, though. Figure I need a hobby, what with an eternity to work with and all that. Haven’t made anything particularly amazing yet, but I figure I’ll get better at it with time and practice. And I’ve got plenty of time. Oh! I got a job too, working security at Pins and Needles. Bit too soon to tell what that’s going to be like, but gainful employment’s the dream, or something. Gives me time to ride and do my own thing still, got no real room to complain. All in all, things are looking pretty good right now. Just wish I could actually kill a feral vampire for a change. That’d be great.

Time to play ‘let’s see how well I keep up with this thing’. Should be interesting.

So first off, I still can’t kill feral vampires. That ain’t for lack of trying, though, and I got the scars to prove it. It’s really annoying. Especially as they don’t seem to want to heal, which is also odd. I thought we had amazing healing properties or something - I guess I’m just unlucky. Oh, the property transfer went through okay. I’m now the proud owner of an empty bar slash pool hall. I did make it a sign though. It says ‘closed’, just to make sure no-one gets the wrong idea. Still though. A bar without a bar. It’s kinda ridiculous. And, like I was considering last weekish, myself and those others have put together a little something. The Night Lords Motorcycle Club is now very much a part of Harper Rock. Still early days, of course but we’ll see how things go. We’ve got a good mix of people and skillsets so our nights could well be a lot of fun. Just need to get earning, now. Should probably call a meeting or something for that so we can talk through what we fancy doing. I’ll need to get a gavel, or at least a hammer of some sort. I suppose I could hit the table with my gun? We’ll work something out.

My job at the tattoo place seems to be going well so far, too. Not heard about anything I’ve done wrong or anything I’ve missed as yet, and that can only really be a good thing when you’re working security like that. Fairly sure I’d be one of the first to know if I’d screwed up or something. Still, not going to complain about a few hundred extra bucks in my pocket. Makes keeping the bike running that much easier, really. Not that I really go anywhere. Still pretty much camped up in Corvidae Flats. It’s just so convenient. My place is right up the elevator and there’s zombies everywhere. It’d be daft to leave, really. Also, Link and Preacher are in there with me and it’s good to hang out with people in your down time. Also, there’s a bar. Which is more than I can say for my own place, really, and that makes this spot slightly more preferable for now.

This Week’s To-do List
  • Meet more people.
  • MC meeting.
  • Find a blood thief.
  • Get a bar for the bar.
  • Find out some way to be able to drink.

Killed my first feral last night. Hadn’t really had a proper chance to try out the gun Lyonel gave me yet, but it turns out it’s pretty damn awesome. Been running around in Corvidae Flats blowing their faces off. It’s a shame the ammo costs so damn much, really, but it’s kinda worth it? I mean, feral blood is worth more than zombie ears so it’s kinda easier to restock on ammo now. Which means I can kill more of them. It’s a bit of a happy cycle, really. I do need to get back to doing some B&Es though, if only for the crafting supplies. Got to give Preacher something to do, after all, and he seems to be quite interested in the whole making traps and stuff thing. Which I have no problem with at all - I’d really like one of those electric lockpick things. And a noise maker. Maybe some smoke bombs. Point is, I can give whatever I steal to him, he can make stuff and everyone goes home happy. Job’s a good'un.

And that means I should probably go back to the club. Redwood’s got a good variety of places to break into, really, and I can usually get some decent stuff out of it. The bar’s just a handy place to use as a base. Still needs decorating, too. Getting the work done really is such a pain. Not even open yet and it’s already taking up most of my free time. Still, I’m sure, worst comes to worst, I can get my hands on some paint from somewhere and do something with the place. Still need an actual bar, too. Probably an ATM. And I kinda want one of those arcade machines they had in Nightmode. That thing was good fun. I do have the sound system sorted, at least, so there’s that. Music’s always good.

And, rather wonderfully, I noticed on my way in that there’s a blood thief camped out down the street. Either that’s an incredible coincidence or word’s getting around already. Could be interesting, that.
