Knowledge talks-- wisdom listens

Humans were never the problem; it was we who could not contain the secret of our existence. Driven by greed, money, or just the chance to test out our newfound abilities. I dreaded this night, when Humans would prove smarter than us all, when the only answer would be more bloodshed.

They have something our kind can only dream of. Unity. A collective goal driven by the most basic of human instincts-- The need to survive. They have a network now, and they are no longer sharing our identities between each other, but with all Humans alike, Blood Thief or no.

Their latest trick is luring us into the more populated areas, like the Wickerbridge Bank, forcing us to attack them were the people they seek to recruit can see us for themselves and believe.

It is no longer a game of Vampires hunting Humans—They seek us now, when we are most vulnerable, in our sleep, and after they have proven us rebels of our own reality. Soon they won’t even be paying for the blood of Vampires, but taking it during our rest as they have done from myself three times in the last week.

They have all of our basic abilities and none of our weaknesses.

No, humans were never the problem— and if we want to win this war, we all have to start by taking a good look at ourselves.

Stop the sale of Vampire blood.

We need to outsmart them. We need to starve them. We need to unite.

The Broussard Crime Family have offered terms for peace after a Blood Hunt to cull the Thieves among us.

Firstly and foremost I find it odd that even while they wave the white flag, I find myself decorated with the teeth marks of their kin, when I have never, nor shall I ever be a willing donor for their cause.

My opinions regarding Blood Thieves have not changed from day one; they are to be killed on sight. They know too much, and I for one will not spend an eternity in Shadow because a few of my kind think it is wise to play with fire.

If the Elders accept the terms Mr. Broussard has presented them with, war will transpire.

Via hearsay on the Crow I believe these are our terms:

Blood Thieves will immediately cease their recruitment
Blood Thieves will take blood only from willing donors: their attacks on vampires will cease
Blood Thieves will stop sharing the identities of vampires and uphold the Masquerade
Blood Thieves who consume vampire blood will share their identities with the vampire community and in return, we stop massacring them

They think this is a solution to end bounty hunting. There were always hunts, long before Blood Thieves came about and there will be long after. These terms will trap us; allow these Humans who have managed to steal our abilities to police us. The community as a whole are fooling themselves if they believe otherwise.

I am only one man, and I understand that even within my own House there is division regarding the Blood Thieves and what a future under the rule of Humans will bring. In agreeing to their terms they have only made it easier for the Broussard Family to take what they want, lured by the ideals of calm.

Hope is the last thing a person does before they are defeated. Enjoy your peace my brethren, for even peace may be purchased at too high a price.

Going Bush. The city is no longer safe for our kind where those that are weak would pay for peace with the only strength they have. I will not be punished for upholding the law and trying to protect them from themselves.

It won't be long now before the first blood is shed to protect thieves-- and I'm afraid that is something I just can't stick around to see. Last night was and will for the foreseeable future be my last Bounty Hunt. As I sit and watch the City Alert (3.6%) rise, I wonder what the future will bring for this place.

I best get to the Cabin and start packing. An all animal blood diet will prove interesting.

Sleep well Harper Rock.

The Cave Dweller was hospitalised last week. I have spoken to some like-minded individuals that have agreed to stop Bounty Hunting for a time and focus their efforts instead on killing as many Blood Thieves as we can. Until that piece of paper is signed, sealed and delivered, now is our best chance to cut their numbers in half and half again.

Our plan is working, the City Alert has risen by two percent and with Feral Vampires left to their own devices in the Quarantine Zone, their numbers seem to be growing—it won’t be long now before the next stage unfolds. Perhaps if we bring down the wall…

City alert: 5.05%

A chain is only as strong as its weakest link; but what if you deliberately remove those strongest? I thought I would never see the night when Vampires would unite, but once again this diverse species have proved me wrong.

I spoke to Micah last week and he agreed to stop his crew from taking out Bounties, he was the last remaining link in the chain. Since then only small unorganised groups of rebels have come together to try their luck at Hunting. The Alert has almost tripled since this rebellion occurred.

City alert: 8.23%

Every now and then I do something to counter the climb of the City Alert as it is in my nature, but for the most part we Bounty Hunters have been rather restrained, taking our frustrations out on those Blood Thieves instead.

We attempted to kill another one just before dawn. Reyes Aguilar was his name. I first learned about him through an email from Enver who had wanted me to track the human. It wasn’t until last night that I was informed of his occupation, which saw a more thorough search take place.

I combed the woods for him and found him Far East of the City boundary. I don’t know what made me start there—a gut feeling perhaps. I feel as if I know how these people think… These people being, the humans who learn the secret of our existence and take it upon themselves to sort out, only to fail. They really are as dumb as we first thought them to be.

It is almost time to scratch the itch. I know how hard it has been for everyone as I myself have found it difficult to exercise restraint, especially when I see Masquerade Violators walking about the city as if they have nothing to be ashamed of. I suppose it is important to remember that they are not our enemy here; just the fools that continue to sell their blood to Humans for a small profit.

Next time they try to sing the same tune about us hunting for profit, I shall have to remind them of the reasons they found themselves in such a predicament.

I really should pay the Cave Dweller a visit and see how his newest Friend is doing—Perhaps they let them share a room.

A man who takes credit for the rain must not be surprised when he is also blamed for the drought. Ignorance is ******* bliss ain’t it? God I can scarcely imagine how nice it must feel to be that ******* stupid. Perhaps my premonitions of being strung up on wooden crosses to face the sun were not so farfetched after all.

Two weeks ago the Broussard Crime Family offered their terms for peace. Majority ruled that these terms be rejected by our kind, though they were thoroughly argued for some time and more recently replied to with a counter offer.

From the very beginning I rejected the idea of trading with Blood Thieves as we have come to call them, and made my stance clear when I approached a number of Bounty Hunting groups and persuaded them to join a Rebellion that would see the city without those who have policed it for so long.

For months we Bounty Hunters have been ridiculed and scorned for our practices, both publicly and behind closed doors. I thought that if we stopped hunting our people might realise the true effect of our actions. To say that I enjoy killing my own is false, and I have never been a hypocrite when it comes to taking out those who violate the masquerade—having sent a few of my own childer to the Shadows for their actions.

Now that the city alert has more than tripled, and Vampires have been barred from trading—it seems they have finally noticed that something a little strange might be taking place; only, instead of seeing why this rise has occurred, they, once again, are pointing the finger.

Blame is always so closely followed by accusation, and to say the least, what they are accusing Bounty Hunters of now is enough to make me want to hang myself. Not only have we put the entire survival of our race in jeopardy, but apparently we are also going out of our way to push the alert to its limit, hiding just behind the fringes of what the Crow recognises one to be a risk.

If these accusations were indeed true, then why is my current CrowNet, as well as many of my fellow Bounty Hunters Bounties as follows: Your current CrowNet bounty is $0

Oops, try again. They think the solution now is to hunt down those who must be behind this terrible transgression. It couldn’t possibly be anyone else at fault but us, right?

This is what you get when you sell your blood for cash. Ah, but wait, they know how to fix that… Make a ******* deal with the humans so that from now on, when they sell their blood—the masquerade goes unchanged. Doesn’t matter what the humans want to do with the blood. [Sarcasm] Yes, that’s the ******* answer, lets work with the humans, the same that wiped out our kind two hundred years ago! God why couldn’t I see it till now… it’s so simple its genius! [/Sarcasm]

I suppose now all we can do is wait and watch them try to fix it.

I paid the Cave Dweller a visit before his release and we managed to strike a deal. He’s not too bad that Bat… The alert might just be the perfect smokescreen we need to finish what they started. Mr. Broussard I hope you are wearing your best for our meeting, because I intend to bury you in it.

I left the city for a while to go and visit my son. In the mean time I have missed a few things. Some kind of truce was made with the Blood Thieves... I don't care what anymore-- all I know is it was stupid and my race have finally convinced me of their need to self-destruct. I have abandoned all hope of a united front-- and shall keep to my own from now on. Politics was never for me it seems.

During my absence I have missed a few important dates. Firstly her birthday, but I've promised to make up for that-- and secondly the anniversary of my death, not that I find it is something to be celebrated. My wife would tell me to lighten up... May she rest in peace. Noah just turned five. He is starting school this year. Its a nice school. He seems happy. I don't think he misses me...

Bounty Hunting is already underway. Time to lower that City Alert again. Dia seems off-- she tells me nothing is wrong but... My gut tells me otherwise. Perhaps I can do something to cheer her up. This will be my final entry.

Goodnight--
