What's going on in Harper Rock

"Okay what exactly happened?" Trinity's fingers moved the pen against the paper as fast as she could to keep up with the women on the other end of the phone. It was yet another phone call from the Canadian city, Harper Rock. It seems that this place was a hot spot for paranormal activity. "Okay so you experienced time loss? Yes..." The stories were all starting to sound the same now. Is it mass hysteria? "Where was the last place that you were at that you remembered? Okay..." She jotted down Necropolis Nightclub; again another place that continued to be repeated. "Did you leave your drink at any time? Well...yes, it is a possibility. Yes. Mrs. Parker, I plan on being there in a day or two. Do you think you can meet with me and see if I could do some hypnosis on you? It might help you remember. Yes. Okay sounds good. I will contact you when I get there. Of course you are welcome." She hung up the phone and finished her notes.
The Dean wasn't going to be happy about her leaving, but since she had tenure, she really didn't care. The man was almost always against any of her trips and did his best to prevent funding for her research. Well if she had to use money out of her own bank accounts to get to that city, she was prepared to do so. Her research on the city had already brought some questions to her beyond those of the people that continued to contact her about these strange time loss occurrences. She had learned of some sort of virus outbreak in a part of the city, closing it off. Could this all be connected? Her pen continued to make circles around Necropolis Nightclub. There was something going on there for sure. Her logical mind continued to bring her to the idea of someone slipping Rohypnol into drinks. Problem with that is the modus operandi seems to be off. There wasn't a set type; at least not that she could tell yet.
"Mary, could you see about booking a room for about a week in Harper Rock Canada? Also, see about those files I called about yesterday. I need those." Trinity stood in front of Mary, her secretary. The woman was a saint in her eyes. She was always there and never complained about a thing. She seemed to be a bit of a mystery herself; never talking about her home life or anyone connected to her. But she was the best secretary that Trinity ever had, so she just learned not to question it; even as hard as that was for Trinity. Her whole life revolved around questions and answers.
"Yes Dr. Vega. Oh I also found a nearby conference on apparitional experiences given by Dr. Wright of the Rhine Research Center." Mary shifted some papers on her desk and then handed Trinity an envelope.
A smiled parted Trinity's lips. "Bless you Mary. Get me on the roster for that conference and I have the funding I need." Yes, indeed Mary was a gift and she could kiss her at that moment.
