[Every] Chink in the Armor

She put her phone away. Burying it deep within her pocket, well her *** pocket. She had been texting Every. She had responded to her advert for purchasing scripts as she was trying to find something new to get into as the world had changed there was no more hunting off the back of it. She was nothing anymore. The words Every had told her resonated with her. ‘Sometimes the path you need to take isn’t the one you grew into.’ the comment mulled over and over in her mind as she got off the train at Newborough station. She had plans tonight.

She would be hunting source codes to provide Every with so that she could begin to make scripts for her. She had wanted to be there for her. The bond Nishaa and Every had was odd. Nishaa was competitive in every shape and form. She had to be the best of everything, she had to be the favourite no matter the cost, or at least that was how she used to think. She had no right to be classed as Every’s favourite childe - due to the fact that she came and went as she pleased. She was hard to pin down, a wild child that often toyed with things that she shouldn't have. A mooncalf, for example. Nishaa’s weakness really. Her kryptonite.

Since returning she hadn’t thought like that, if anything she had matured a little like a fine wine. Nishaa just wanted to find her rhythm again no matter how it looked.

”Office..Office..Office..” Her long finger pointed in the direction of the office buildings, if she was going to find source codes this was the best place to probably find them. With a knockout bomb in hand she slipped inside. She didn’t make a fuss at first - disabling the camera’s and picking at the doors - door after door she cracked with no sign of source codes. A small growl slipped through her lips. The tip of her fangs crunched down on her bottom lip drawing blood, as she then drew the lip within her mouth and sucked at the blood, before licking her own lips in turn. It was as if she was replenishing herself.

She jumped out the window of the office building and dropped the ground with a thud. Black biker boots shook glass from the foot as she turned her head at the window to find a flashlight looking at the window before looking away. She had narrowingly missed the guards. She exhaled air, not that she needed to anyway but it was still a human habit before moving onto the next building. This one seemed slightly more - smarter when it came to security. She slipped in through the window and made her way through the building by the end of the run she had come away with three source codes and a graze on the arm - which had been sliced open by a bullet, bruising the white flesh of her skin and ripping the textile of her red tank. Guards were yelling at her ‘WAIT WAIT’ they shouted at her ‘WERE CALLING THE COPS.’ Nishaa wasn’t threatened if anything she wanted them to, she’d love a fight. The ghostly white knuckles cracked and popped as she flexed her muscles. Every wouldn’t be happy if she killed an innocent bystander especially when it seemed humans ran the show now rather than vampires, and the thought of disappointing Every stopped her from pulling out the gun she had gifted when she had returned to life. ”****.” she uttered in her deep voice.

Someone had caught her attention because her head had lifted from her boots to look upon a well built male. Masses of black hair from her own hair cascaded over one side of her face concealing her in a way but he was already looking at her with a murderous stare. Her body reacted before she even knew herself what was going on. She dodged and rolled out of the way of a spray of bullets head in her direction. Her knife was pulled from the hiding place inside her boot as she moved and jammed the tip of the blade into the back of his neck. Blood sputtered from his mouth in a downward spray and he keeled over to the ground. Dead.

”Every is going to be so pissed at me.” Nishaa scolded herself. Every had told her to stay away from soldiers - but technically this one had come at her, she didn’t go seeking him. Her tongue clicked against the tip of her fang as she cocked her head to the side and wondered how she was going to get out this one - she was sure as **** probably on this ‘list’ that Every had mentioned - well, she was going to hack Nish off this list like promised.

She knew that upon Nishaa’s return, that the woman would find it difficult to meld back into the town that had changed drastically over a year. Microchipping vampires. Their right’s stripped. She wasn’t quite sure on how to explain it all to her slightly psychopathic childe, but then again, explaining things wasn’t always the easiest to how stubborn the woman was. For example, how many times had Every told her to stop playing with mooncalves? “If only I had a hundred dollars.” She shook her head as she tucked the device into her pocket.

For Every, as she always had been, Nishaa was the epitome of a headache.

And, despite that, she was still her family.

It had surprised her when the woman had gotten softer in text - they weren’t exactly the mushiest. The woman was a reminder of the violence that had once been her purpose and over the years, Every had mellowed considerably. But, much to her surprise, the shoot first and greet aspect of the dark haired woman had seemed to pass. Had Nishaa grown, too? The answer had come in the form of asking for hacking scripts for sale, and how much she’d charge for them. As she made scripts for others regularly and merely asked for the source codes - it would help speed up the process, too.

As she reached over to her computer, Every pulled up the police evidence database and began clicking through the files idly. Partially to keep an eye on her childe, but also to monitor her breaking and entering skills. After a few moments, she turned her attention back to the files spread across her desk for employees. The search for a new clerical wasn’t exactly her favorite thing to do. When the next round of texts went through, Every parted her lips and frowned. She twisted back to look through her computer, finding Nishaa not to be on the list - yet, the thought registered in her mind.

I’ll go over it all. Might be easier in person.

She sent the text without thinking much about it and once the name flashed across her screen, Every rolled her eyes. “And, the headaches begin.” Not entirely literal. She pulled the brown leather jacket from the opposite side of her chair, pulling her hair out from beneath it and grabbed her crossbow. The weight of the unique weapon reassured that no, she wouldn’t have it blow back up in her face, but also the technicality of a firearm. Slinging it over her shoulder, she focused and teleported into MRC’s alleyway before making her way with ease down the pathways.

Ten minutes and a bullet wound later, she rolled her healing shoulder as the dark haired trouble that she turned came into view. “You’re on the list.” She said, with a frown.

The shrug rolled off Nishaa’s shoulders. She knew she was on the list, she could have felt it by taking down the soldier. Onyx orbs looked directly at her sire as she came into view. The woman was rolling her shoulder.

”I knew it.” She responded. Mentally face palming. Nishaa hated being trouble, well no. That’s not right - she hated breaking the law, one she so fiercely fought to protect but to find herself on the other side didn't sit well with her. She looked down at the dead corpse, and then back up at her sire. She grinned at her, fangs on show. ”It actually wasn’t my intention I’ll have you know, I was on my best behaviour the whole time. Until…” she trailed off orbs looking at the corpse again.

She bent over her pale white hands grabbing at the corpse as she hoisted it up over her shoulder. Vampire strength supported her here as she made her way over to a metal wastebin one of the ones that the garbage men take and clip to the side of their large trucks. She flung him inside and dusted her hands.

Somethings however never change and her lack of finesse when stashing bodies wasn’t the greatest perhaps this was why she was on the list. Her shoulders rolled into a mental shrug. Onyx orbs looked back at Every. ”You look good. “ she complimented her sire - perhaps it was seen as creeping from Every’s point of view because she was in trouble for being on this list - however it was a genuine comment.

‘Being a better person was hard work’ Nishaa thought a smile creeping onto her features fangs protruding from those pale pink lips of hers. The fangs never retreated they were always on show - it was a like a this is me, take me as I am or **** off kind of deal.
