The Deepwell

Sometime in the early hours of the morning, when only the bravest souls and the most heavily armed fiends still dare to walk the streets, a gentle tremor rocks Eastern Harper Rock City. A subtle tremble that the average citizens slept right through, and went largely unnoticed by many across town, and was dismissed by those even closest to its source.
The following dawn, a gaping hole is found in the wilderness just outside of the River Rock district, ripped open as if some tremendous force had burst forth from the ground, heaps of dirt and broken obsidian stone flung several meters in every direction from its epicenter. Worry and rumor begin to spread like wildfire through the surrounding neighborhoods.
Within hours a small paramilitary faction of the local militia, calling themselves the Bloodless, has taken up the duty of guarding the opening after a flood of missing persons reports begin pouring in throughout the day. It would appear that neither vampire nor human is safe, and all are an uptick in military support of the militia is notable as their numbers grow and the quality of their equipment is clearly increased.
From the mouth of what appears to be a broad burrow, the shuffling and scraping of bone against stone can faintly be heard in the impenetrable darkness deeper within the cavern, alongside the distorted and distant indistinguishable shouts. The creatures below appear to be intelligent and organized, led by a tiny number of vampire radicals determined to protect the mysteries that await in the dark.
Inside, where the light of day has never shone, a raiding party of Sirens have already begun an assault on the creatures lurking below, and appear to be none too friendly to those that get in their way. Beneath the quiet wood outside, a war has broken out over a mysterious labyrinth, as several factions fight to take control over the strange, otherworldly tunnels lined with a black, glassy stone.
A river of what appears to be little more than shadow and smoke wends its way through a portion of the cavern, disappearing into a space far below. To touch it is to know an agony unlike any other the violator has known, searing flesh and bone alike. It is wise to steer clear of its deadly path.
Only the strongest of Harper Rock’s warriors can stand against the powers that struggle below, for a reward unknown, a prize as valuable or worthless as the imagination may make it.

The Deepwell is a new, high-level zone introducing a new weapon and gear type, and a wide array of new and varied NPC’s, weapon drops, and items.
This is the first new batch of content from the new developers, so we ask that if you encounter any strange behaviour, or anything that you think even might be a bug, that you report it to us for review. We’re also going to ask for some feedback from all of you about the difficulty of the area and the information that we gather will likely result in some patches to the area with some rebalancing and drop rates. We thank you all for your help and support in this endeavor, and hope that you enjoy a little taste of some new content!
