Hardcore Roleplay Guidelines

Post by Every »

The hardcore board rewards roleplayers with an extra 50% RPP per word written, compared to normal roleplay posts.

If you are posting roleplay in this forum, you agree to adhere to the standard Path hardcore ruleset guidelines. The rules of this board are as follows:
  • [1] - Threads are Open, Unless Marked "[CLOSED]"
Most threads on this forum are open for anyone to join. This is to encourage roleplaying outside of your usual circles of friends, but it's also to ensure a certain level of realism and a feeling that anything could happen. If you want to make the thread private, post it on another board. Similarly, if you want to post live chats on this board (posted as transcripts) the roleplays should be held in the 'world' IC chat room, so as to allow anyone to join in. If you use the [CLOSED] tag in your thread's subject line you will not receive 50% extra RPP for your posts on that thread.

[2] - If Needed, Use the Built in RP Action Dice Roller
Some writers might challenge your character's ability to perform certain incredible feats of strength, intelligence, dexterity, etc. In such cases, you should use the "roleplay action" option when posting a new reply (found under the text area).

[3] - In the Event of a Fight, the Loser Must Bow Out
Unless the victor's writer wishes it otherwise, the loser of the fight must withdraw from the thread. Characters who refuse to fight are considered to have run away, and so they must also withdraw from the thread. All fights should be settled either through RP challenges (the forum "attack" button), skirmishes, or duels. Fights need not to be to the death, or even result in wounds in-game depending on the chosen conflict method. The conflict method should be stipulated by the thread's creator in the first post, or in planning. If the thread creator does not stipulate which method is to be used then the method of settling the conflict defaults to the forum "attack" system.

[4] - The Hardcore Board Uses ARES
ARES is the automatic random events system which will occasionally reply immediately after you post with a story twist or plot prompt for the group to follow.

A Note on GMed Threads

In a GM (Game Master) run thread, the GM wouldn't be playing their character, and they would not have any of their alts taking part in the quest/thread. A GM's role is to set up the RP environment, facilitate the RP, mediate disputes, oversee/set dice roll parameters, control all NPCs, manage the plot, etc. For a GMed thread, we would expect to see a planning thread in which the GM tells people what to roll (using the dice roller), where players post the results, and the GM explains what the results mean, etc.

On top of the RPP they earn from GMing, they can also be given additional rewards.
If you are interested in GMing, please PM myself [Every], Levi DiAmico, Caligrace, Winter and Amalea to discuss bonuses as thanks for GMing special threads and storywise events.
