Valerian danced with the woman. Round and round they went, his movements so smooth and compelling that they pulled her in more and more. Their eyes locked glistening in the light as the two continued onwards. A dance with a stranger was rarely as personal. It had a sensation to it that immediately set it different and special. Closer not just physically but mentally and emotionally. Thrusting the mind towards desire yet wanting the dance to continue onwards until such a time was over.
That night was not to be one of loneliness and silence. It was one of passion and creation. Movement and motion. Full of life. Todays actions were not going to be gone in a moment. They would be remembered, they would remain in effect.
There were few normal people left in Harper Rock. Little law. It was the perfect breeding ground. Where people's mistakes were his children. Yes, he would ensure that they came along. He would ensure they were taken care of. And he would ensure that they remained hidden. So that they too could repeat the cycle.
It was the path that must be followed. The instinct that cannot be ignored. And the desire un-controlled. The way of a spider, the jorogomo, to create more. To harness with movement and yet remain unseen. Unknown.
The woman may one day regret such a decision. But not that day. Valerian would have no such regrets.
He would soon return to his other desires, ways of obtaining more. Children and wealth. They were too strong to be ignored. He would soak himself in the life of crowds. And again return to the forests. Returning to his true form, crawling through the limbs and cold air with glittering black eyes.
The Jorogomo race was matriarchal. Yes, he saw that. He had been underneath them for a long time. And it was unlikely he would attempt any usurping. However. Over time he had come to the conclusion that their strength, though more inherent than his, could be overcome. He no longer feared them individually. He had become more and more dangerous overtime he found. More and more deadly. And he had no intention of stopping.
The Jorogomo must be hidden when possible, for their own safety. But still there were moments when he desired greater things for them. When he wished that he could bring them further than just greater numbers. If only.
