Passing the Torch

Path of the Vampire is now under new permanent ownership.
I won't be working on the game anymore unless I'm brought in as a freelancer if they ever need me, so all queries should be sent to the new owners from here on out.
I came to this difficult decision after 10 years of working on Path, because it's best for Path. I'm full time in my office job for at least the next year, and I'll be working on other things on my weekends. I don't have the time required to manage such a grand project as Path, with its 100,000 lines of code, massive database, more systems than I can keep track of, and 100+ pages. I might have the time to work on new projects as a hobby, but nothing as massive and time consuming and difficult as Path.
So simply put, the game is in better hands now. It will get more updates, more story content, more bug fixing, and more attention. You'll see the game grow quickly from here on I would guess. I'll let the new owners introduce themselves soon, but please be assured you're in the hands of a group of people who are very much in love with the game and want to restore it and improve it. They have the resources and time, and I believe they'll do a much better job than I've been doing lately.
THANK YOU for 10 years of allowing me to work from home on my first real game, creating something I love for people I like. Thank you so much for all the support, love, and passion for the game. I really do mean that! I'll still be here, playing and lurking and trying out all the new updates to come, so say hi from time to time.
I know some of you will be mad as hell about this, but I stuck this out for as long as I could. For a year or two I was on like £3 per hour while working on Path, and it was just unrealistic for me to be able to do this anymore while also trying to earn a living. So please don't be upset with me, and give the new owners a chance to show that they'll do a better job, because there's more of them and they'll be able to get more done in their spare time as a result.
The game will remain on mooncalfstudios.com for now. As for the future of Mooncalf Studios, I'm working on a
post apocalyptic, futuristic fantasy forum RPG with an original canon, and a game element to it too (not a grid, more of an idle exploration game mechanic). However, this is purely a hobby for me which I'll work on for an hour or two when I get the chance, and by treating it like a hobby rather than a business I hope that the passion will shine through. And because it's much smaller scale than Path (in a coding sense), it's going to be much easier for me to manage on my weekends (without adding too many features and systems and minigames this time! haha). I hope you'll join me for that soon, and I'll keep you posted. If you'd like to support my work on that, please consider subbing to my Patreon. If you've got questions about it, poke me in PM, Facebook, Patreon, Discord, or the ribs.
See you in the shadow realm. <3
