So. Not even Harper Rock is unmolested by this Covid-19 virus. But holy **** that is the least of its worries. I got off the plane from Seattle and hadn't even made it two blocks before I was nearly attacked by a person... I hope no one reads this and thinks I am insane... But I swear to everything holy it was a zombie. And then ask I was entering my hotel I though I saw someone biting in to another person's neck. I start with my new company in a week. I need to get my head in the game to find an apartment and an ISP because I will be working from home for the foreseeable future. I'm just going to take a hot shower, Uber Eats some McDonalds or something and get to bed early.

So. Last night after my shower I went down to the receptionists desk to ask if they had any recommendations for a decent place that delivered during the lock down. She just laughed at me and said there was no lock down. "If they didn't lock down when the vampires appeared, they wont lock down for a virus". Im sorry. Excuse me. Vampires? So I asked about methed out zombie dude I saw last night. Nope. Actual zombie. Oh. Okay. So I emailed the hiring manager and asked if they knew anything about it. He asked if I remembered my offered salary. It had an extra digit in it compared to my last job. He said when I came in on Monday and signed the contract there would be a clause explaining how half of that is hazard pay for living in this town. Okay. Neat. Thanks for totally not disclosing that your town is full of GOD DAMN REAL LIFE ACTUAL MOTHERFUCKING VAMPIRES. I feel like that should have been mentioned at some point in an email my dude.

She explained that the vampires weren't all evil monsters. A great many of them were just average-ish people who found themselves is a bad situation. Apparently her sister is dating one. So I guess its not all Walking Dead and Dawn of the Dead. But still. That hiring manager needs to work on relaying relevant information.

In other news, I got some bomb *** sushi from this little place around the corner. I will defiantly be back. I need to start looking at making friends. Seems like that would be a good thing to have in a place like this.

Last night I went on a bit of an adventure to get to know this new town. I bought a small hand gun just in case I needed some sort of deference with all the creatures that apparently live here. I don't judge them as long as they don't eat me. Which I think is a fair deal. Anyways, I went to this Galleria place and there was a taco joint. You know me and tacos. Now all of Harper Rock knows me and tacos. Its fine. They would learn eventually.

While I was there I met a dude. His name is Cliff. Says he owns the place. A bit of an odd fellow but I am the last person who should have any say in that. Anywho he just wanted to introduce himself, said he hadn't seen me around there. Well of course he hasn't. I'm new in town, moved for a new job, and all that boring stuff. We talked for a bit. Maybe I made a new friend? Haven't had enough to know how that process works, but you know that. Hopefully I see him around again. He wasn't unappealing to look at, either way.

I'll get back to you later, I should probably find a dry cleaner so I have something clean and decent to wear on Monday.

I went back to the Galleria and ran in to Cliff again. This time he bought me tacos. I don't know if he is mocking me or courting me but either way I am here for it. We talked for ages, and I think I have made a friend here already. Which is nice.

I went out and did some exploring, and holy fucksticks are there a lot of... monsters? Creatures? I don't know what to call them exactly but there sure is a lot of them. I had to shoot a zombie today, and hardly anyone even noticed. Like it was completely normal to shoot zombies on your way to dinner. I don't know if the people are insane or just have balls the size of Mars but Christ I am not okay with any of this yet. One person did stop after I shot the zombie and asked if it was my first time hunting the undead. I nodded and he told me if I took an ear from the zombie there was some dude by the quarantine zone that will buy them for 200 bucks.

In unrelated news I think I have a new hobby and I definitely have a new pair of shoes. Maybe the zombies aren't so bad. I might go out looking for a few tomorrow. I need to upgrade the ram in my desktop, and for 200 an ear, why not another graphics card while I am at it. Anywho, I should get to bed. My first day starts in about 6 hours and I don't want to walk in looking like I am one of the zombies.

Subject: New Job

So I had orientation at my new office today. I am going to be hella overpaid for the level of work they are having me do. Apparently software engineers with a background in cyber security are hard to come by or something. I dunno. I just know that a monkey could do my job. And depending on who you ask, it is! I will not be the one to tell Jim that though. Nope. Plus, with money I make on the side from zombie ears I might start looking at buying a house rather than rent an apartment. And I don't have to buy food now. If I just waltz in to the Galleria Cliff buys me tacos. Its so weird. He doesn't eat with me. He just watches me eat. And the shop keep at the taco joint just stairs at him like he wants to kill him or something. Its... I dunno. something is going on with this Cliff fellow and I am going to find out what it is. If I didn't know better I would say he was one of those vampires everyone keep talking about. But he doesn't look dead, or have fangs or anything. He looks normal, acts normal. Well... mostly. But ****. Who am I to judge what is normal or not. Here it is, Monday evening, new city, new money, and instead of making planing I am just going to zone out on Minecraft.

And honestly, those tacos are bomb. Even if he wasn't supplying them I'd still be buying them.

Subject: Holy ****!

So Holy Taco!, you know, the place where I pretty much live, opened up two new shops. Holy Pasta! and Holy Donuts! Holy ****! am I going to need to buy bigger pants. I will die young, fat, and happy. And I am so okay with this.

Cliff and I talked more. I asked about why he only watches me eat. Apparently he is on a really sensitive diet and he can't eat anything processed or that has gluten. So I feel like a jerk for thinking he was creepy. He just has medical issues. Asshole of the year award goes to me.

As for work, they tried to have me do a second day of job learning, and I asked if I could just get to the work. Cheryl was hesitant but let me to it. In unrelated news I got the work for the week done, so they are bidding on more projects to keep me occupied. But those bids wont produce work for a few weeks at the earliest so for the time being I am just helping everyone else get their projects wrapped up. I don't know if they are impressed or mad at me, but everyone else is grateful for the help.

Well, back to Minecraft for me. My friends on BreakDown Craft are waiting on my mats.
