Deals with the dead

Post by Warren Foster (DELETED 13133) »

When did this conversation start? Warren stared at the woman. She wasn't looking at him. She was covered in tattoos. A vampire. She was talking. Was he supposed to be paying attention? Words were leaving his mouth, what were they?

"Your eyes and ears I will be, in turn I get the world to see." she sounded so strange in turn, her voice was just so bland to him. Was this how all people talked. His awareness slowly came back. He knew who he was. A wraith. How long had he been around? Ah well, it didn't matter. He was where he was and he was here? Or was he? Should couldn't see him but he could see her. Ah right, the deal. They were making an agreement. He was going to be a sort of scout for her, and help when she needed it. In return, she'd keep him around on this earth as if her were alive once again.

He wasn't alive though. He was dead. Very dead. More dead than she was. Or was he? He saw more than she did. She could touch things but he didn't need to. Wait what was life? Did it matter that she was dead? Or he was dead? Who cares. He was too old to care. How old? Who cares. Not him.

"Can you stop talking? I want to start walking. Shorten your words and shorten your concerns. Shut your face and slow your pace." She seemed almost offended. Or was she? Maybe not. He couldn't tell. When was the last time he actually looked at someones face. Spirits don't count. Or do they? Maybe they do.

It is time to journey. Where am I going to go? I don't know. Somewhere else. Not here. He turned around and walked. Was that a wall? Oh wait, it didn't matter did it. Walls aren't important. Just keep going. What to do? Who to see? Meh, they're probably all dead anyway. Or they will be. So I can see anyone. I'll do that.
