Community Content Unlocks

The reason we've decided to add this feature is that right now, as Path stands, we are unable to contribute much time to development. Much of the time we do put in is taken up with bugs and PMed issues and similar, but beyond that on an average week we can't usually take time away from our other workloads to put into this game. Our hope is that this update will change that, and allow an up-front way of saying 'hey this is what we'll add to the game for X karma', and then people can pick and choose what content they prefer.

As for the karma cost, new relics take around 5-8 hours to add to the game, depending on the complexity of the item's function. This is due to the custom coding required to add these items. This, coupled with the fact that many people have currently amassed a great deal of karma they don't know what to do with, equals a reasonable karma cost to development time ratio, in our opinion. Other content may well take much less time, and in which case these will have a much smaller karma goal amount.

Our hope moving forward is that new content will equal happier players, will equal more people sticking around, will equal more people returning, will equal more support for Path, will equal more time we can devote to adding more content for free.
Just want to say I like this idea.
Hopefully it draws in more people!

MOAR RELICS!

Glad you like. What else would people like to see added? I'm mostly thinking content, rather than huge updates, because it's very hard to gauge how long, say, enchanting would take to finish.

This is very clever, I like it.

My suggestions would include anything that's easy enough to code, but allows people the opportunity to customise their character or CS or items in some way. People love that feeling of having something personal, they like to feel solely appreciated.

Another suggestion would be to create something in the world, depending on how difficult that would be to code. An attraction of some sort that creates game and RP interest. A carnival rolls into town or a NPC group is holding a special function. It doesn't have to impact the story, but it could generate intrigue.

A good idea would be to copy the mystery loot box incentives too. Players can pay karma to open a mystery loot box with the chance to score some decent trinket, relic, unlimited ammo, you name it.

I might also suggest glancing at the suggestion forum to see if there are any quick wins you can take advantage of.

A special event unlock (both grid side and RP story side) is an excellent idea, and I think it would work great. There's a ton we could do with that. Just with the carnival suggestion, for example, we could make the carnival a place on grid and you win tickets at super super super simple minigames (mostly chance ones) to unlock prizes at machines. Then on the story side of things there could be something to do with carny folk vampires who have this unique set of beliefs that's causing a stir or whatever.

Nothing is ever gone from the Internet.

But if you can think of any that fit here, let me know.

This reminds me of Something Wicked this way comes I love that movie.

How hard would it be to code adding your own apparel to the Clothes shop or your characters invetory for karma without you guys having to do it ?

Not especially hard. The main reason I haven't done that is quality control, but I guess I could make it so either we approve it when it's submitted, or it just goes into your own inventory.
