First Meeting (Jazir and Katalina)

Jazir Pevinah
is sprawled out on the couch sleeping, looks a little like a teenager who died, is so pale and sallow skinned. His normally burnt orange hair grungy and heavy across his pale forehead and closed eyes.
Katalina Black
It was another night for Katalina but, like it or not, some things would never change. The time she had lost meant little to those around her. But, for her, it was a loss of home and pride. She shook her head. If only they knew she was alive. Then again, that wasn't an option. She woke up what lay inside her, stirring it like a pot. A dark buzzing filled her veins and with a light touch, the knob turned on the apartment door.
Katalina Black
She didn't really know who this place belonged to but, no one had been in or out in awhile. She needed what she could get. Easing open the door, Katalina caught an unnecessary breath in her throat. Someone was there. She cursed herself inside her mind. She wouldn't be able to do this again, not tonight. Katalina did not dare back away, as maybe she should have. Instead, she slowly entered, casting a small sense of silence to her footfalls.

Jazir Pevinah
The moment the door opened he could feel it, the shift in the stale air, the stench of dust filled clothes and potential rodents skittering away from uneaten pizza in an open pizza box. Not that he ate human food, but the last time Mathias had been there...had donated...he'd had to feed and what better way to feed than to have a human deliver themselves to the front door? Hunger breathed through him, it exuded through every pore, pain making him as still as the grave, his eyes twitching once behind his eyelids and not opening. He couldn't place quite where the intruder was, but it didn't smell like anyone familiar. Perhaps someone had come to kill him? That...had his lips twitching into a smile.
Jazir Pevinah
"Hello..."
Jazir Pevinah
The single word was a light touch in her mind, a quiet probing into the open space that didn't seem as direct as it could be.
Jazir Pevinah
(f)
Katalina Black
The first thing that came to her mind was "Oh ****." This truly was a bad idea. The voice in her head may have been a simple, even gentle gesture. But, to her it was like a block of concrete falling into the ocean pit of her stomach. This was a vampire's home. Had she not been so foolish, she might have taken note. But, being in the fade made her soft. Too soft. (f)
Jazir Pevinah
Was he welcoming? Not really, not in the original definition of what people expected of someone who couldn't care less if their home got intruded on. Or at least, didn't care in the 'right' way. Movement came after the silence, he couldn't not, his mind wouldn't let him stay still. So he sat up, brushed himself off, fell off the couch ingloriously. The pizza box flipped off the glass table and the glass table became the best sort of support he had. It was enough to get him up to his feet in a swaying sort of way and then his sunglasses fell to the carpet and his glowing orange eyes scoured the room for who had entered the apartment.
Jazir Pevinah
(f)
Katalina Black
She damn well knew hiding wouldn't save her despite her ability to hide in even the lightest shadow. She could feel his age pulsing off of him, now. Running wouldn't save her either. Ripper taught her that much. She didn't dare sway, even as he turned. Instead, she met his fiery gaze with her shimmering blue one. Her eyes like light blue pools of glowing starlight, framed by dark brown hair and skin of pale-white. She could not find words for her intrusion, finding it best, not to break the silence. (f)
Jazir Pevinah
"No...do make yourself at home..."
Jazir Pevinah
The words left him with a casual wave of his hand, as he skirted towards the front door. Best to block the entrance or exit rather, just in case. The usual jittery fear he felt at going out of the apartment more of an intense hunger that he couldn't even try to dress up in polite casualness.
Jazir Pevinah
"Really, I don't mind...what's your name?"
Jazir Pevinah
(f)
Katalina Black
Katalina was shell-shocked. Had anyone done that to her, she would have kicked them until they were an ink stain on the carpet. He moved quickly to shut the door behind her, and yes, that did set red flags up in her mind. No one was ever so courteous to someone who barged into their home. Or maybe, it was his eyes that set her off kilter. "Katalina." She barely managed, in a low voice. Wanting to sound intimidating and doing it were two different things. Though she wasn't sure hissing at him was exactly the best move either. She forced her body to un-stiffen, but her eyes, never left him.
Katalina Black
(f)
Jazir Pevinah
He leaned his weight against the door, watching her, noting her body language, his eyes squinting a little bit because there was an ache behind them for a moment at focusing. "Katalina..." He repeated her name and then answered it with his own. "Jazir..." That was the extent of his polite greeting, it fell apart on the way out. "In return for shelter..." It was difficult to organize his thoughts, there were so many ways he could approach this. "Will you sate my hunger...?"
Jazir Pevinah
She would...she will, that was the thought that followed it, if she refused then he would pit his strength against hers and see who came out the victor. Mortal wounds meant nothing if he could draw and pull even a single bite of blood, such was his hunger.
Jazir Pevinah
(f)
Katalina Black
Fear. That was the first emotion she felt. Not for his hunger, that she was used to and felt on many a night. But, the way he worded that. He wasn't asking her to hunt for him; he was too strong and capable for such a question. No. Suddenly a flash of memory came back to her, back to insane vampire the night she had come back from her animistic state. It was so long ago, but- though one's pupils were completely dilated, they shared the same ring of red around the eye. Katalina smiled, shoving everything down, so as to not show how much she knew, how much she wanted to disappear. This was not a pleasant expression, as her fangs gleamed out at him. "I thought humans were the cattle?" Her voice played dark, almost coy. Half of her knew she couldn't win. Nor could she talk her way out of this forever. But, she'd be damned if this is the way she would be treated, or the way in which she would die.
Katalina Black
(f)
Jazir Pevinah
It was so subtle now, any shift of emotion across the face. Flawless features, perfect stature, a predator's defense mechanism in place of the traditional instinctual prey reaction. But her response was in the sharp point of her teeth as they snagged on her response. There was affront in her statement, he knew there was, a judgement there for what he was, but a large part of him no longer cared about that. "Cattle...implies there is a herd...for some...that is a foriegn concept...for some...there is only the singular...the potential...the fleeting one opportunity."
Jazir Pevinah
(f)
Katalina Black
"Yet, there is a herd. Right outside that door. A mass of bodies, set on their own tiny existence. One that we, will one day, out-live. So why turn on those who ally with you, when we could be what is left to inherit all?" Her words were, shockingly, true. Even to herself. She couldn't really believe she had said that, considering that she still had her own troubles killing people- humans. But, ever while she spoke, she slowly moved her hand to her side. It was barely fractions at a time, but seeing as he told her to be comfortable, she made a casual gesture, giving a slow pace to the end of the sofa.
Katalina Black

Jazir Pevinah
"Bah...outdated..." He shook his head, damn the woman for speaking up the prejudice he'd found a personal reason to fight against. Wasn't he in here, in his own home, starving himself senseless unless his mate walked in the door and offered to share with him for his sense of right and wrong. "It is not about turning on anyone...who is truly an ally? Someone who is selfish...caught up in their own existence and being dependant on a lesser specie...or someone who's willing to share...share power...share strength, share experience and thought and feel that sense of reliance on someone just as strong...If we are what is left...I will survive...and those who share with me will survive and instead of draining away to nothing...we will share what we have until we are stronger together for it. When I chose this...I chose this because I pledged my life to rely upon one person...and that person was the person I loved...any who share...even those I 'hunt'...I repay. I provide for...I empower..."
Jazir Pevinah
"Besides...I am here...suffering alone? I am not out there, following in your footsteps? You came into my home. What sort of ally are you if you judge me for my hunger instead of ease it?"
Jazir Pevinah
(f)
Katalina Black
She allowed pause for his words, truly taking them in. He did have a point on at least two variables, yet she couldn't think like him. Would not allow herself to. "I will agree that vampires turn easily on their own kind, for reasons I do not understand." She placed her left hand on the arm rest, leaning slightly. "When I say this, I don't mean you either. I look out and I see many who would kill what they are, or rage against everything around them. It is wrong. Though, why you'd choose to..." Her words trailed off into an unnecessary sigh that she felt more than needed. "I didn't choose this. Many of us don't, but I still have to live with it. Everyday." The mask in her tone dropped with that sentence, showing the hint of a southern accent that could never be covered completely in her contractions. If anything, she sounded frank.
Katalina Black
(f)
Jazir Pevinah
"Because we can." He tracked her movements even if he stayed over by the door. "I was given a gift, I should have died, I was saved instead. I wanted to learn who and what I was...so I studied. I studied our history and what had happened before and how we had almost ended entirely because of avarice and competition and one person trying to steal the power from everyone else and be the strongest. But what if sharing our strengths wasn't forbidden? What if instead of one person empowered by cult like followers it was all of us...united. Or at the very least...some of us united. Checks and balances would exist if it were done right. I know they would...I chose this to prove that."
Jazir Pevinah
(f)
Katalina Black
"I'm not saying that we should be ruled by one person. As far as politics go-" She grinned wider. "I could, personally, not give a damn." A little chuckle escaped her, as if she were sharing her own privet joke. "I have always made my own rules." Her fingers were so close to her dear, golden gun now that if he moved, she could easily fire a shot. She could have pulled it right now. But, she held herself back. He was not deranged, as the creeper had been. He was killing his own kind, just as she did in her own mind. "Would it not have been smarter to go to these extremes when the need arose, rather than having to cage yourself like a beast? Proof of the truth does not weigh out logic."
Katalina Black
(f)
Jazir Pevinah
"I had more reasons than those I've mentioned. But the others are personal." He moved away from the door, towards her. He seemed far more balanced now than he had been when he'd awoken. The fiery orange glint in his eyes intent only on her. As he'd spoken it had become fairly obvious that he did not just have two fangs, more and more of his teeth were sharpening, curving and turning into glistening edged ivory as his hunger burned at him from the inside out. "I am not caged...I go out...I went out yesterday...I am contained. Unless I am with those I trust. Or...those that intrude into other's homes and put them at risk. You have said so much...but not given me an answer to my initial question. If it is not shelter you seek...what is it? Money? Weapons? Connections? Friends? What do you desire..." The sudden pull of his influence surpassed the normal, it dredged through her mind like the sudden crushing weight of an avalanche. Even if it seemed he was simply coaxing her to merely 'think' of what she desired, there was an edge to the suggestion that was impossible to fight off.
Jazir Pevinah
(f)
Katalina Black
As soon as he moved, her head begun to ache. There were so many answers to that question. In reality, she had only broken in for a shower and somewhere to hide that was not in a sewer system. When she saw him, she hoped he was out cold. But, was that what she truly wanted? Anyone she knew probably assumed she was dead. Ripper wouldn't miss the childe that he happened upon and had to raise himself. Jack, well, who knows what he thought. But, that sent her thoughts further, further back then she ever wanted to go. Something she had long shunned since a young girl, and as a vampire had forgotten. "My brother....A family..." Both words seemed to ring hollow, as if she knew both, while running hand in hand, would never come true. It deflated her, somewhat, saying that. Even though she did not mean to do so. A heat came to her face and eyes, just at the thought of her brother. Visions of him did, indeed plague her.
Jazir Pevinah
"A family...we make our own family now. I couldn't hope to bring someone back to you I've never met...but I do know people who are reliable, who are trustworthy and who would support you and share their name with you. A family is not impossible to gain. And in the meantime, a temporary safe haven, present company excluded, can help." He didn't remember his own mother. He did remember her being a single mother however and the distinct lack of a second parent. As well as the pain of severing from who he'd been and how simple life had been before. "If I help you find that will you sate my hunger?"
Jazir Pevinah
(f)
Katalina Black
There were days, her brother didn't seem to leave. But, he was twisted by the darkness in ways she didn't comprehend, always taunting her and making her question herself, or argue with what looked like to others, thin air. Sometimes, she wondered if it was him and not some demon there to haunt her for what she had become. She had heard him but- "Making a deal with you is like making a deal with the devil. My family is dead. Whether it be physically, or not. You cannot bring that back. A family requires love... And, it seems that is gone from this world." Why was she still thinking? Draw the damn gun! No doubt, it was in her hands in a heartbeat. One shot, aimed for the chest. The second was aimed for the space in front of her as if she assumed he would floor her. She didn't want a fight, just as she did not want to die. But, she couldn't bring herself to live a lie and to let him...take what little dignity she had left.
Katalina Black
(f)
Jazir Pevinah
"What was once...what is now is stronger. As you said yourself...mortals are set on their own tiny existence. One that we, will one day, out-live. So why turn on those who ally with you?" He let her words flow off his tongue as proof that he'd heard them and filed them away and taken them to heart. The gun didn't frighten him, he'd spent too long in the Fade to care. The only thing that frightened him was the thought of being separated from Mathias. That put a manic light in his eyes. If he died he'd do his damndest to drag the other back to the Fade with him so they wouldn't be alone...memory or no memory. "Love exists...it is more...it is more now than it ever was before. You don't have anyone to love yet. But you will. I have seen love at an extreme you could not fathom."
Jazir Pevinah
(f)
Jazir Pevinah
(wait you actually did shoot him didn't you?)
Jazir Pevinah
(I can add to it if you did so you has a reaction to that xD I just caught that as I was rereading it)
Katalina Black
(Yeah, she did. I was going to respond as if he did not react or care but okay XD )
Jazir Pevinah
The pain of the bullet was MUCH delayed, but when it hit, it actually clashed with the ever present hunger he felt. He didn't even stop to think, he merely reflected all of the pain right back at her, sharing his pain as if she'd been the one to take the hit at the same time as him. It had him catching a hand tight to the back of the couch, had him slumping a bit against it, but it didn't take him to the floor. Instead the veritable roar of pain he let out blacked out every sense almost. The computer screen cracked, the tv screen splintered, the glass shattered up in a perfect explosion of twinkling white glass and the walls bowed in, bending and warping as his eyes brightened in the sudden flare of perfect malice.
Jazir Pevinah
"This is MY home!?"

Had she waited to hear him out, maybe, she would have lowered her firearm. But, it was too late to take anything back. At first, Katalina thought it had done nothing. He was left unfazed and was stronger than she could even fathom. Suddenly, a searing pain erupted though her chest. It was so close to her heart that she let out a cry and her knees buckled from shock. The gun lay on the arm, with her left hand barley around it as she clutched her chest with the right. As if anything could make it stop. Her eyes glowed bright too, but with a very different emotion as the world shattered around her. She knew she had to get out while she had the chance. Gritting her teeth, she used the sofa to pull herself up.

Jazir Pevinah
He lunged at her, grabbing for anything he could, her arm, her side, her clothes and if his fingers found purchase he dragged her close. Instead of full body pinning her however he snatched her hand up to his mouth and buried every pointed incisor he had in his mouth in it, latching on to the source of everything he needed even as his body leaked blood that was long dried out.
Jazir Pevinah
"Wait...stop...just a bite..."
Jazir Pevinah
The words echoed about between them, repeated as if on a cycle.

"Wait...stop...just a bite..."
Jazir Pevinah
The words echoed about between them, repeated as if on a cycle.
