Roleplay Matchmaking Question

Post by Rupert Hill (DELETED 10906) »

Hi there

Apologies if this is a stupid question and the answer is already available, but I just can’t find it in the place I would have expected.

Can someone define what “ARES” means in the Roleplay Matchmaking please?

Yep, ARES is the automated random events system. It will mean that for each post in the thread, there's about a 1 in 20 chance that the storyteller will auto post with a random event. This could be something like a strange smell being nearby, or a vampire hunter attacking. The writers then respond to this little curve ball however they like.

Its pretty fun and interesting. I think if you give it a chance, you will like it. :)

Well, my writing partner is "naked for some reason" so I guess you win some, you lose some.

If you were uncomfortable writing something that the ARES system put forward, could you refuse or ask for a re-roll?

There is so many fun ways to play that off!

Roll with what you get.

Like for example the naked thing. They were in a knife fight, their clothes were cut off and they made it out with a nick that healed as soon as they found it. Or they were streaking across road, getting chased by soldiers when.... So many ways to get creative and go about this!!! imagination time!

You can ignore it if you really have to, but generally we encourage people to try to role with it (see what I did there?)
