For some reason, any of the browsers I use short of the one on my phone has been doing this.
As for this, the doors are not working. I cannot access banks, either, or powers, etc.

For some reason the game thinks you are mobile. This isn't on a tablet is it?
If not, try clearing your cookies for me? Something might have messed up during week before the app rollout, as there were a few bugs back then and one of those might have caused a cookie to load on your computer saying you're mobile.

Nope, that’s been on my laptop. I haven’t checked it on my tablet, but I do play from my phone often enough. I cleared the cookies on all three.

I switch back and forth between devices as well, and I have noticed that in the firefox on my pixelbook it doesn't show desktop view despite the settings being on that option.
Related or separate issue?

My computer did force an update a couple of days ago, maybe just before I started having these issues?

Update: Deleted my cookies and uninstalled, then reinstalled chrome. It got that one working. The rest are still uncooperative.

Try changing your settings on "mobile mode" and then back again. This should in theory reset your problem.

Negative. It did go back to the original layout only for a moment, and then I moved.

The fact that this worked for you indicates to me that it's partially a cookies or cached data issue that happened way back when I was still working on the system. I believe if you clear your cookies and cached data on the affected browsers, and then make sure it's set to non-mobile mode, it might stick.
Otherwise, I can add in a temporary exception to the code to force it to give your characters alone a cookie that says you're not mobile, overriding the error cookies.
