Valdimar's eyes were still feeling a little sensitive; he hid their new, dragon-like appearance behind black sunglasses, which he wore even when inside. He told his staff he'd recently had surgery, and that he'd been instructed to wear the sunglasses at all times until the retinas had healed. They never asked beyond that.

When one entered the hotel, they were greeted by a marble front desk flanked by large ice sculptures. The sculptures changed each day, the sculptor worked on-site. The lights were dim in the atrium, with huge screens along the back wall showing a constant, mesmerizing video of the Northern Lights, as seen in the skies above Iceland. The screens were so crisp, it almost looked like a window, looking out over a cliff and a snow-covered landscape.

There were white leather couches, too, the atrium itself huge with stairs on either side of the desk leading up to the rooms. There was a bank of elevators on the left, and beyond them the entrance to the restaurant and bar--the bar was completely made of ice. On the right, beneath the stairs, was an inconspicuous door that led through to the offices. And beyond the stairs on the right there were huge double doors that now stood open; beyond, there was a space reserved for events and performances, but for the duration of summer had been turned into an ice-rink.

Charity stood at the desk, his newly hired sales and marketing manager. Valdimar was ensconced in the office, staring at the screen in front of him. As boring as facts and figures were, they needed to be looked at. He sighed, shifted. He looked at his watch.

He considered leaving. He considered tracking down Azraeth, or Amalea. Or anyone. But, no. He told himself to stay. Company could wait -- it would be his reward.

Rules number 1: If you want a job somewhere, act like you own the place.

As he enter the hotel he start to look everywhere to make sure all is good.
Decoration: the ice theme is really nice and the ice furniture is really good. Check
The worker: There uniform is spotless and they act like professional. Check.
Is it clean: No dust, good. I can see my self in the glasses, nice. spotless, Check.

As he walk to the front desk, he took hes best behavior.

- Good evening! I'm Bastien Smith and I would like to take an appointment with the director for a job, please.

The office door was ajar, and with Valdimar’s preternatural hearing, the question could be heard without Charity having to tell him about the visitor. Valdimar turned to the second screen to peer at the camera; the guy looked well-dressed.

”Let him through, Charity,” Valdimar called through the half open door. He sat up in his chair, fingers moving to his sunglasses by habit, wanting to remove them. As soon as he lifted them halfway the light got in, too bright, and he dropped them back over his nose.

He was still looking for staff; he had those that he strictly needed, but if he wanted to open more hotels, he’d need some more. He’d need someone who’d eventually be able to do the paperwork for this place – the paperwork that Valdimar currently didn’t feel like doing.

Valdimar stood as the man entered, holding out his hand for the other to shake. It would be cold in the human's grasp. But that suited the theme of the hotel, didn't it?

"Valdimar Svensson," Valdimar responded, giving a firm shake. "Owner. Apologies for the glasses. I have recently had surgery," he said with a svelte smile. Only then did he take his seat again, and gesture to the seat opposite so that Bastien should sit.

"I will need to call your references, of course, but you do appear to be just what I need," he said, giving the CV a once over. He'd have a better look later. For now, he could ask questions.

"Why do you wish to work here, specifically? It is no secret that the city is in crisis. What is your long-term goal?" he asked.

Rules #3: If you have a dream surround you're self with people who achieve that dream.

As he shake hand with the owner its realy cold, must be because of all the ice, so he did'n say a word about it. He took the chair he was assign.

- I hope it went well sir. Of course they are waiting you're call.

He listen carefully the question.

- Its simple sir Svensson! The reputation of this hotel is the finesse around. I want to have my own establishment one day. The best thing about our work is we learn something new everyday.

The new and upcoming generation was what the world now liked to call 'Millennial'. By fate of birth, Valdimar had been lumped in with this new generation though he disagreed with a lot of what was said about them. Lazy, selfish, etc. Valdimar didn't like it when he met others his own age who met those standards that he only wished to work hard to dispel.

No smile graced his lips as he listened to Bastien's answer. What Valdimar heard was that Bastien wished only to work somewhere that could (but had not yet been rated) be a five-star hotel, just so that he might learn and open his own place, competition. It was like hiring and helping an apprentice who, at the end of his or her term decided to go work elsewhere.

"I am not sure how to take that answer. You wish me to hire you and teach you so that you might learn my secrets to then... open your own hotel, and become my competition...?"

He look serious and look the men in the eyes.

- Who know what the future hold for me. I know one thing, I really would love to work here and maybe one day you'll open another hotel like this one and I will take care of it for you.

Valdimar nodded, and peered again at the documents in front of him. There was no way to tell the worth of a man in just one sitting, or whether or not he could be trusted. A trial, perhaps--but not before his references had been called. He picked up the resume and shuffled the pages into a neat pile.

The smile that graced his full lips was courteous, but cold. It was an expression that held no answers and offered no hope, though nor did it promise failure.

"I will call your references, and I will let you know," he said. It wasn't a full interview. Perhaps if the references spoke volumes of the man sitting in front of him, Valdimar would call him in for a second interview. Until then, however, Bastien could wait.
