I was thinking a relic/enchantment to increase the chance to drop better loot

Yep that's planned. Will be a relic enchantment. But not a karma item.PsychoCliff wrote:I was thinking a relic/enchantment to increase the chance to drop better loot
That would be cool, for those of us who can't play as much. I guess that's my perspective, as someone who can't spend as much time playing, it's hard to be motivated to play the grid at all, in either game, because I know I can never catch up to those who have a ton of time to throw at it. I'd be more inclined to play if I had a way to balance the playing field a bit.Mooncalf wrote:I personally feel that's a little too pay to win, unless it was only used as a catch up mechanic for those who can't play quite as often.Amaranthia wrote:I am wondering about this, so when I played Marvel Heroes you could buy EXP Boosts which multiplied your EXP gained for a certain period of time. You could also get boosts that raised your chances of gaining certain types of loot. I never felt like it was pay to win, would people consider it pay to win here? It was usually $20 for a pack of 4 or 5, but they'd only last an hour or so each. Would that be something you would consider David for here?
Perhaps there could be a karma-only relic which doubles all XP gain but ever so slightly more than halves energy gained per hour. This would be useful for people who can only move once per day, but it wouldn't give them an advantage as overall their time limitations still mean they fall behind.
Relics are being updated as the avatar system is improved upon. Eventually you'll have only a certain number of slots for relics, and relics will only work if they are equipped. But you'll also be able to enchant weapons and clothing and armour, for other boosts. So basically, unequipping it will cause you to get regular loot drops again.PsychoCliff wrote:How would this relic work, since relics can be unequiped and exchanged.
Could I buy this relic, equip it when I go to grind, then unequip it, or will it stay on permanently?
Will it take up a relic slot?
Just covering any ways this can be abused.
Yeah, agreed, and I'm all for updates which make it so that people don't fall super far behind. Such as the increased energy for people who have been inactive for a long time. But if Josh agrees this item is a good idea, we can add several which give options for those who prefer to move less often but for longer periods. I myself only get the urge to grind a character once in a while, so it would be nice to log in to 200 energy which took longer to accumulate, and double experience points due to a relic which slows down my energy per hour gain.Amaranthia wrote:

So, I can buy the item. Not equip it. Gain energy normally. Equip it. Kill stuff and get bonus exp. Then unequip it and get normal energy regen again, circumventing the slower energy gain?Mooncalf wrote:Relics are being updated as the avatar system is improved upon. Yeah, I can appreciate the increased energy if you've been inactive for awhile...but if I log in each day for 1min, just to feed Amara then I'm disqualified. I do like the idea of the relic, though if it automatically halves your current energy on equip then it's basically useless for the first day or more. I guess if it doubled the experience you got from sitting at a bookshelf then maybe it'd be worth it.Mooncalf wrote:Yeah, agreed, and I'm all for updates which make it so that people don't fall super far behind. That to me is more fun, and you can do it as a group activity, a couple of times per week, where you hunt NPCs in packs or whatever.
