by Enver Marshall II
OOC NOTE: This thread is open for cameos those moving to Chalktown due to the recent actions/occurrences in Harper Rock. You DO NOT have to own property in the city to relocate.
“They say vampires did it.” Enver stared across the large mahogany colored desk at the older male as he stated that. “I doubt it, Bill.” Enver said flatly. Not because he believed vampires gave a **** about humans as he did, but because vampires saw humans as their primary blood source. Bill just nodded his head, not agreeing or disagreeing with what Enver said.
”I'm going to be selling my shares and my seat for the price I paid for it six years ago. First choice goes to those on the board with me.” Enver blinked and sat forward, both his hands crossing together as he frowned. “But your shares have tripled at least since then. You'd be losing money, Bill.”
The silver haired male gave Enver a mock stare, before shaking his head. ”You're a business man, Enver. You know, as much as I do that those shares will be worth pennies in a few months. The zombies will be everywhere in Harper Rock soon. I can't afford to have my reputation tarnished with being affiliated with...” He trailed off.
“With me. With a vampire.” Enver's glance hardened before he stood up and buttoned his suit coat. “I think you're right. It's best you sell the shares.” Enver said coolly as he moved towards the door of his office. “We'll hold an emergency meeting this Friday for your stake in the company. I wish you and your family well.” Enver said as he focused at the wall opposite to where he stood, unable to look at Bill. He had made Bill richer than he had ever been before and now he was tossing him aside like garbage.
**** him.
As Bill made his way out, he gave Enver one last resigned look before he nodded and went on his way. Enver waited until the older guy was out of his office and then closed the door with one firm swing before turning away from the door. He moved to his desk and grabbed his phone to take a look at the local news headlines in the last twenty four hours.
Only, Enver noticed he had two emails-one from Grace's school. He opened the email to see if had came from the principal herself. It was a general statement letter to every single parent in the school with the Riverside Academy logo on it.
Dear Parents,
Today, at 11:40 a.m. We had an incident at the school. A zombie had come on the playground. No children were hurt by the individual. The incident was dealt with promptly by local authorities. The school is canceling all outdoor recess until the zombie infestation is dealt. Our number one priority is your children's safety and we feel this decision is best. If you have any questions, please feel free to call our school office, or to email me directly.
Thank you,
Stephanie Gilbert
Enver re-read the email again, then felt his stomach drop. A zombie at the school. At Grace's school. Had she seen it? Had she been scared? Enver immediately pocketed the phone and moved swiftly out of his office to where Miss Knight's desk was. Hadn't they just had a conversation close to this one the other night? It had only been two or three nights at most, and here it was at Enver's doorstep knocking so loudly it couldn't be ignored or pushed back any longer. “There's been a problem at Grace's school. Going to get her and we're leaving the city. You should leave too.” Enver told the woman, before attempting to sway her choice. “This office might be closing and relocating in the next few months. I don't want to lose you. Think about it.” With those final words, Enver was nothing but a blur as he used celerity to get him to Grace's school quicker than humanly possible.

by Indigo
Indigo sat there at first. Her body was still as she released the pen in her hand and waited for the click of contact with the desk beneath it. What Enver just said was hardly a surprise. They talked about this. All of it. Everything that had transpired set off a whole new level of unthinkable happening in Harper Rock around them.
The streets were an obstacle course of walking dead and other worldly creatures moving about. It was impossible to ignore. Unsavory beasts moving about, taking up bold paths blending into the routine ones the general public had made use of ever since she had arrived. What had become of the place that the transplanted Phineas Knight, world traveler and artist, was so proud to call home? The uncle that she adored was swallowed up in the darkness and never returned home. Her brother Davion was a whole other problem she couldn’t solve. Now Harper Rock was becoming uninhabitable for vampire and human alike.
“So, I will just pack up my desk then.” Indigo’s voice raises as her sentenced finished.
Not that she had much to pack. She had far more to consider dealing with her own four businesses. What in the hell was she supposed to do with all of that? Her eyes glanced down at the laptop, the coffee cup and the pen holder placed in front of her for easy access. He was right. This was only going to get worse. It wasn’t what she bargained for when she asked for her fangs.
Perhaps it was all coming down to what she had been warned about beforehand. How things could get bad. As she lifted her body out of the chair and stood on her feet she shook her head dismissing her doubts. She would never regret becoming what she was. This was not her doing. Things were fine, improving quickly in fact until something vomited up the unthinkable into the streets and all hell was let loose. Only the QZ had been isolated by the government. Now that there were beasts of paranormal sources wandering into lawns, businesses and schools what would the world do now? There is no looking away or hiding from it.
“This will mean finding a new hairstylist.” Indigo pulled apart her desk efficiently and gathered up her belongings. “The students will just have to understand. They will be relocating.” She continued to converse with herself while walking in a calm pace since she didn’t have the jet fueled kicks like her boss exhibited. “I hate packing.” She admitted as she stepped into the elevator. “Moving companies.” She growled out the request to her phone to search as she managed to shift the box in her hands so a single fingertip could connect with the button to close the doors. “Harper Rock.” And with that the doors to the elevator closed.

by Ross (DELETED 9384)
“Zar!” Ross shook the shoulder of the man whose attention she was trying to get. “Zar!” Ross had just crawled into their shared apartment after a long night of work for some three story hotel in Harper Rock whose elevator had malfunctioned at some point in the night.
“Wake up!” She crawled into bed, and on top of him, straddling each side of his body, before a hand found a portion of his skin on his chest and gave it a quick twist. “Baby.” Ross growled into his face as she hunched over so they would be eye to eye. “Something is going on.” Ross said quietly, though they were the only two in the apartment. “In the city.” She said, this time a little louder so that he didn't miss what was going on.
“Baby, I'm scared.” Ross admitted, still smelling like the WD-40 she had used to grease up a part while deep in the shaft of the elevator at the hotel. “I was working and...” Ross trailed off. “Some kids, upper high school, maybe first year freshmen came into the hotel I was doing that job in?” She said, but sort of had a tone that was questionable. “Stupid drunk. Like Prom drunk.” Ross rolled her eyes, glad she missed out on that whole scene. Still, she had heard the stories and even heard about some kid's getting expelled for under age drinking not long after Prom.
“Anyways, they came stumbling into the hotel—they didn't see. What was behind them. Baby, it moved so fast. It was big and fast.” Ross moved off Zar and claimed a corner of the bed. Her arms wrapped around the legs that she brought to her chest as she continued on with the story. “I...I...it practically picked one of the girl's up off the ground before it bit her. It bit her right in her neck.” Ross' hands came up to her head, to cover her ears, as if she could hear the screams of the woman again, just by retelling the story. “I panicked. I threw my toolbox at the thing and got the hell out of there.” Ross closed her eyes, recalling the sight of the woman who had been holding her neck as she bled out there on the hotel's marble floor. “I didn't even help her. All I could think about doing was getting out of there and running away. I got in my truck and didn't even look back. Those poor kids.” Ross opened her eyes and looked flatly at Zar across from her in the bed. “I'm sure most ran away. Got out.” She tried to assure herself, but Ross wasn't sure of that. Not one bit.

by Balthazar
Balthazar really had no warning. In his sedate state he was caught unprepared for Ross’ arrival and her body as it found a familiar position above his. His inked fingers reached out and scooped up the handfuls of perfect curves that were greeted with the predictable squeeze. It wasn’t to be the welcome he was used to. Ross was demanding his attention with a firm grab and twist of his cool skin on his chest. His eyelids snapped up like cheap motel blinds and he hissed at the means in which she was getting her point across. And there he was nearly eyeball to eyeball with the woman who shared his bed and living space. He listened while she left his hands and body and took up her spot on the bed. Something had to be significant. Out of the ordinary for her to be going on like she currently was.
Preparing for whatever it was that had Ross curling her arms around her legs meant Zar using the heels of both hands positioned on the mattress above his hips to push his body up. Once he achieved that his open hands massaged his face finishing off with his fingers brushing at the top of his nose. The scent of WD-40 was subtle but powerful in how it worked him over even if she was keeping her distance. It was Ross afterall. A wrinkle and light snort cleared the distraction while he kicked the sheet down to rest over his hips. That was when she got to the part where she witnessed a mauling that was news to him.
“What in the hell?” He twisted free from where he was sitting and dropped his legs to perch on the edge of the bed and get closer to her. His hands found her dark hair and finger brushed it back while looking into her eyes. “Baby, you okay? It didn’t touch you?” His eyes dropped over her to make sure she wasn’t leaving anything out. While he did his nostrils widened in anger at the danger put in her path. She made it out but what was going on? “That has to be on the news.” He hopped up and grabbed the remote and soon the room was bathing in the glow of the wall flat screen coming to life. “Out in the open like that?” He questioned how and why all at once. “Jesus.”
It was then that the breaking news rolled out the incident Ross was speaking about. As the details broadcast he slowly stepped back and settled his bare inked *** on the bed next to her. As the clips of the reporters in the lobby of the hotel played out he reached over and pulled Ross into his lap and wrapped his arm tight to tuck her in.
“I won’t let anything happen to you.” He whispered in her ear. “I promise.” He kissed her cheek and continued to listen and watch what had become of the streets and city they were in. The bloody, wounded victims squealing their horror was backed up by protesters who seemed to come up with picket signs in record time. Chanting for extermination for all cold blooded freaks was loud and clear. His voice was sure and direct. “Time to pack.”
