An accidental crime (Kira)

Lockland looked at the bears body on the ground. He had gone to the hunting grounds to fight mountain lions, but almost everything he found were wolves, and an occasional bear. He wasn't going to waste their remains, although he was going after mountain lions in part to get sorcerers to teach him their ways. Actually, they wanted him to approach and then run from them. Very odd but he wasn't unwilling to do it. The problem was just that he usually ended up having to fight them because they kept going after him.

After he had properly taken care of the bears remains he moved on, leaving the Hunting grounds behind and then looking at a number of buildings. Hunters lodging he assumed. He walked over to them, looking over each building from the outside. Not all that bad. It'd be a rather nice place to stay if I could afford it, wonder what the inside looks like He thought walking up to one and checking the handle, he was far too absent minded and tired from all the hunting however to actually know if any of these were already owned, and just sort of assumed if the door ended up opening it wasn't owned and he could look around.

It opened and he looked at what was in front of him, pausing for a moment to stare at it, "What in the world do they need a security camera for? Afraid somebody's gonna vandalize this place or something?" He said to himself before he froze, Unless....somebody owns this place and I just trespessed. And now they think I'm gonna try and steal their stuff. Well crap what am I supposed to do now? I can't just walk away but I can't exactly look around either. Snap.

He had no idea this was the house of a vampire named Kira Kerr.

Kira found herself at a place she hardly ever went to. The hunter’s cabin. It was her first home here in this city, she shared it with Serenity and her family. She first met Odin and Jarrett here. She ended up with the unwanted childe, David here. Her green eyes landed on the ‘come back with a warrant’ welcome mat. She smirked, she had been so wild back then. She caused a lot of problems and attracted a lot of bad attention from cops. Which of course was how she ended up with David.

She moved through the living room, eyeing the gifts she had left there. The gifts were of the past. David’s black rose, some of Mama Sisya’s things were here. She doubts the woman will ever come back from Africa.

She moved into the back of the cabin where her first room was. She looked around, she really should take the rest of her clothes out of here. She started to look through what else she had left behind.

She got an alert on her phone. She took it out of her pocket and checked it. She raised an eyebrow. What were the odds that someone just walked in this house while she was here? She tilted her head, must be human but she didn’t know them.

She peered around the corner of the wall. The man was standing there, it kind of reminded her of a deer in headlights. She used her speed to get behind him but didn’t draw a weapon. “Do you make it a habit of just walking into people’s homes?” she asked. Maybe he was homeless? The thought crossed her mind, she supposes she couldn’t fault that. Then again, maybe he was here to steal things.

Lockland turned his head as he saw her, his left hand started to move and he grabbed it, leaving it clenched but now shoving it in his pocket. Stop that! Been through this, don't just kill every vampire you come across. he thought. His heart was racing the moment he'd noticed it was a vampire and his instincts were yelling at him to attack. The curse of a paladin so to speak. He took in a breath and let it out before he turned to respond as calmly and apologetically as he could,

"No, sorry about that, it actually didn't cross my mind this might belong to someone since I was able to open the door. Just came back from hunting, saw these, and thought they were worth checking out. Guess I was too preoccupied to think straight" He admitted frowning, his gaze sort of looking past her for a few moments before he could fully regain control of his temptation to attack her. If you hadn't moved so fast I might not have gotten so ready to attack. At least I caught myself though. Not totally calm yet, I really need to work on this.

"Don't suppose you could direct me somewhere cheap that actually isn't owned." He asked not sure where exactly he should have taken that conversation. Not too many options in that matter and he didn't have too many ideas what to say after accidentally tress-passing into someone's house, particularly if they were a vampire.

Kira tilted her head, she had trespassers before, mostly humans. "You really should be more careful. You never know what you might walk into." she replied. She hadn't figured out he is a paladin though, she thought he was just some human. "The city is dangerous, you walk into the wrong place and you might get hurt or worse."

She put some distance between them, leaning against the back of the sofa, crossing her arms. "Somewhere cheap like a hotel or a place to buy or rent?" she asked. She blinked, "Are you homeless?" she asked.

She looked towards the fridge, "I'd offer you some food or something but it's been a long time since anyone has truly lived here. I'm scared of what might be in it." she said. She was sure she hadn't kept any heads here, she made a special place for heads and fadebabies at another house.

Lockland paused for a moment considering what she just said. He did have to wonder if the phrasing was intentionally meant to sound that...threatening and sinister. But at the same time he thought that his suspicion of that was probably just the paladin's instincts. So he just added, "Yeah, could be bad."

As she mentioned being homeless he grimaced and shrugged, "Yeah, pretty much. I mean, yes exactly. I'm still working on actually saving up enough to get somewhere to say, which is kind of the whole reason I was looking in the first place. Right now I just sort of...go somewhere that I'm able."

"Heh, well I'm probably fine with food. I can hunt pretty well so it's not usually too big of an issue. Or I'll try and sell emeralds or something. That happens too. But thanks anyway." He commented, however he did wonder what would actually be in the fridge.

"Really want somewhere to stay a lot because I don't like the idea of being somewhere people can get to me. Bit worrisome nowadays with all that's going on. The comfort of it and such would be nice but it's not quite as important as the safety".

"People kill people for less around here.." Kira replied, she frowned when he confirmed he was homeless. She was sure there was a homeless shelter in town. "Hmm, I'm sure there is a homeless shelter." It wouldn't have shut down, would it?

"Do you have a job?" she asked, that was one step that of course helped. She hired people for her businesses when people needed it and at times offered them places to stay.

Kira moved over to the fridge, she dared a peek inside to find...nothing, really. What was there looked like it used to be an apple. Well, maybe because most of the vampires staying here were not of her path. The kitchen was mostly for show back then, when they had to look and act human.

"Hotel would quickly waste your money and you wouldn't be able to save up for your own place..." she said, trying to decide how to get rid of the ground mystery object in the fridge. She sighed softly before shutting the door. She moved back towards him, they hadn't exchanged names. "My name is Kira. I'd like to help you, if I can." she said, "No one comes here anymore, so, if you want to stay here until you get on your feet, I'd be okay with that. Since you hunt then you don't have to worry about food, you can cook what you get here."

OOC: Just gonna put this after Lockland got his job, that would make this less complicated
He grimaced as she mentioned people killed for less. Well, that didn't seem to be wrong. Admittedly he wasn't ever on the receiving end of that, but one never knew when it might happen. He was a very active individual. It was only a matter of time until someone decided he needed to be dealt with. His mind turned to the homeless shelter, "You know I have no idea actually." he admitted biting his lip, "Never thought to check."

Lockland nodded as she asked if he had a job, "Just recently got a security job. Pretty good, just not enough to get a house off of yet." he admitted.

He listened as she mentioned a few things, that hotels would waste his money, and then her name and that she'd like to help him. He smiled at that but then raised his eyebrows in surprise as she mentioned that she would let him stay there since it'd be empty until he got on his feet. He hesitated. Yet more proof not all vampires were bad, he really wanted to be more vocal about this but figured it would get his attention.

The smile and a look of considerable appreciation reached his face, "Thank you very much I would bevery grateful. Are you sure you're fine with that though? I mean especially considering you know how crazy the stuff going on is and I only randomly showed up. And I'm Lockland Winters by the way, pretty sure I didn't mention that yet."

Kira listened to him, well at least he had a job, that was a first step. "No, you didn't." she said about his name. "I've already moved anything I really care about. And there is a camera if you were to try to take anything else out of here. I could track you down...so I don't think you would be dumb enough to try anything like that." she said. "I was homeless at one time, so it kind of hits home for me. It's far safer if you have a place to stay as well." she didn't like her time at the shelter. That was when she murdered someone for the first time. That was really the only fond memory other than the underground fighting.

Hell she was working on a charity concert that the money was going towards homeless shelters and animal shelters. There was still a lot of work to be done there.

"So, yes, I'm sure. You can stay here until you can get on your feet." Kira said, she shuffled around in her pocket for one of her business cards. "You can just call me when you decide to leave." She handed him a double sided card. It was easier than carrying around two different kinds. She also gave him a spare key. "Do you need anything to get you by for awhile?"
