[Meara] You're Gonna Be A Star!

After the 'week' of humanity events, Enver had chosen a name from the list of attendees from any event for a rare once in a blue moon opportunity. The idea had struck him, just because it could be fun, could present possible opportunities to someone, and finally gave him a reason to go back home. When he drew the name out of the ice bucket he tossed them into, he frowned, then scratched his head in thought. The name he had heard, but couldn't quite place what the person looked like. He was able to narrow it down by going through video surveillance and then using some telepathic abilities. Meara seemed to be one of Alexandrea's, which made him smile. He liked the other Allurist, so it was nice in a way that someone he knew, even through someone else, won the grand prize.

A list of all shows and movies coming into production had been set up by Sophia, a woman who worked for him back home in California. The list had been folded and put away in Enver's suit coat for safe keeping, after a quick glance over the list and description of what they were. They all had something that made the show, or movie special or unique in his mind, but the winner would have to choose one and live with that choice. Some movies and shows were better or more well known than others, so she would have to be careful on her selection if she wanted the potential to be 'famous.'

With a prod in Alexandrea's way, Enver was able to locate the unidentified woman and her apartment, which was how he and Benny came to be outside the woman's door. In his hands was a sign that said 'Congratulations,' made out of cardboard that house boxes of Bottle Caps from the theatre he owned in Cherrydale. In Benny's hands were some balloons the color of silver and gold. After clearing his throat, Enver knocked on the door, then took a step back in case the woman looked through the peep hole of her door, the sign blocking most of Benny and the majority of Enver's face as he held it up for Meara to see through the peep hole.

WEARING
Just like most evenings after work, Meara was in her apartment's living room practicing. Her little foray into music management had gone well so far. The calendar was filling up near the holidays already, and she needed to rehearse all of the holiday staples in addition to coming up with some of her own arrangements of more popular tunes. So after she woke up, Meara put on a big pot of peppermint flavored coffee and got started. Three hours later, she was noodling through a new electronic inspired version of the Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy. Later this week she would have to work out choreography, but that would not be appropriate for her closet of an apartment.

As she paused to make a few notes on the margin of her composition sheet, there was a knock at the door. Before Meara could try to stop the train wreck about to happen, Willow sang the song of her people at the top of her small lungs as she ran towards the door. Little paws would press on the wooden door as the Corgi whimpered at her inability to greet the people in the hallway. Meara rolled her eyes as she walked across the living room, setting her violin and bow on the entryway table. "Now just calm down." She whispered to the hyperactive puppy as she pushed her back away from the door with her foot.

Meara slowly opened the door, the dog forcing her way into the hall to investigate the new people. The redhead blinked owlishly at the people standing before her, as she wondered why there were people with signs and balloons at her door. "Um, hi there. What's all this." She asked as she waved her hand at the balloons. "I don't recall entering a contest, so maybe you have the wrong apartment?" Blue eyes fell on the man with the sign before she had a moment of realization. "Oh wait I remember you. Mr. Marshall right? You own the casino the parties were held at during humanity week. That was a lot of fun - I liked the art night a lot." Meara gave a warm smile as she waited to see why the men were here looking like a scene out of Publisher's Clearing House.

Enver heard the dog and one thing about Enver was-he was a huge dog person. So, when he heard the dog, he could only grin. Good people, in his mind owned dogs. Cats were too independent and didn't really need anyone, other than to feed them and clean out their litter box, but dogs? Dogs sought to be part of the pack, or family and were social creatures. Which meant to him, social people owned them. Plus in his eyes in regards to the woman whose name he only knew.

Benny though? He didn't like dogs and that was evident when he took a few steps back, making sure that when the door opened, the dog went for Enver and hopefully stayed with Enver. And when it did, Enver crouched down and gave the dog a pat with a chuckle as the woman tried to figure out what was going on. "Enver." He said once she was done talking, then gave her a small grin. "And no, you didn't. No one did. But you came to an event...the art one, I believe?" He tried to jog her memory, before going on. "I had a sort of secret contest of sorts, and well, you won. If you're interested." He cleared his throat, stood up and then glanced back at Benny who was taking even more steps back from the doorway and the dog.

"Anyways, what you won was an opportunity for a walk on roll to a show or movie that's in the works at the moment. The only catch is, it's in California-but it's inclusive. Paid for on my dime." He glanced back at Meara, rotating the sign in his hands a little, as if baiting her with the colorful sign, since the balloons were slowly doing a disappearing act with Benny. "Your dog can come too." Enver assured her, because why couldn't he or she? Airlines can fly pets and hotels-some took them for an added fee. "Interested?" He asked, taking a step back as to not seem too pushy and give her time to process what he just told her.

"I went to both the art night and the ball. I was a bit lost in the crowd at the ball as I sent solo. But the art night was lovely and a lot of fun. I made something for Alex."

Meara seemed to lean on the door frame as she listened to what Enver described, and sure enough it was kind of like publishers clearing house. Well least it was for those in the entertainment industry. And for her it could be the added break she was looking for in shopping her unique brand of music. Meara was never much into acting, but she had to pick up a little bit of the trade for the music industry. You had to be genuinely excited for what ever gig you got booked for, even if it was caroling at an old folk's home. Her thoughts were already spinning as to what type of roles she might like, and how she might try to sneak her individuality into it. She would definitely pack her violin too.

Blue eyes wandered back to meet Enver's gaze as she removed herself from her thoughts to be in the present. "But yes it sounds like a wonderful experience. Willow and I would be happy to come." She paused as she looked down at her pup, who was happily sitting at Enver's feet. "When would we be leave. Is there anything specific I need to bring? I could be ready in a couple hours."

The ball. He tried to recall if he had seen her. Enver couldn't honestly remember, given there were a few people there that he tried to mingle with-some successfully, some not so much. It happened a lot when you were the host of the night; being pulled in so many directions-be it where the host wanted to go, or not. That wasn't to say he didn't enjoy speaking with anyone there, but he had seen and heard times when the host had to play baby sitter to drunk people, or people that just couldn't get along. thankfully, nothing like that had happened that night. He just hadn't been able to make the rounds as effectively as Enver had hoped.

His eyes shifted down to 'Willow,' and Enver grinned at the puppy's comfort around him. Did he forget to say how much he liked dogs? "Well...." Enver cleared his throat, then shrugged his shoulders. "We could leave tonight, or first thing tomorrow night. As for what to bring...Willow, yourself and some clothes would do the job, I reckon." He nodded his head. "Everything else I'll have covered or taken care of." He assured her with a grin. It was then that he snapped the fingers on his right hand and reached into his suit coat and pulled out a business card. "It has my cell on it, in case you need it..." He trailed off. California could be a bustling place if someone wasn't used to it. Lots of things to do, with not a lot of time to do it. Unless you lived there.

Meara accepted the card, fingers running over the edges as she pondered the options given to her.

What to do, what to do. A hand reached back inside the door to the little tray on the foyer table. Fingers swiped a black card with silver lettering, so she could provide her contact details to Enver in return. Meara offered it out with a prizewinning smile as if to convey her excitement over the opportunity and her luck. Who knew she might make starbiz connections and a new friend. Meara concluded she had nothing to lose.

“How about just after dusk tomorrow night, I’ll meet you outside the building here. Gives me time to get my clothes picked out and make sure I have everything for Willow.” As she said this she reached down and picked up the twenty-five-pound dog and cradled her against her chest. Really, Meara was buying time because she hadn’t done laundry in almost weeks because she was so busy with her business ventures. If she was going to Hollywood, Meara knew she wanted to look her absolute best. Leaving tomorrow would give her the rest of the night and the day to plan her looks and round up everything.

“See you tomorrow then?” She offered as her fingers moved Willow’s paw to say good bye. “Feel free to text me if you like on your way over.”

[The next night]

Hollywood.

When was the last time he had been there for anything other than business? Enver couldn't remember. And while this was a form of business, it wasn't completely his business. He wanted Meara to enjoy herself, find a role she wanted to embrace, but this wasn't the typical type of business with listening to random meetings of money gained, money lost, who quit or who offended someone and what lawsuit was waiting to be settled over something or another.

Enver pulled out the card he was given the night before by the redheaded woman and then followed by grabbing his phone. Enver opened the messenger app and sent her a message. Direct and to the point.

To: Meara
From: Enver Marshall II

Message: Our flight takes off in just under three hours. I'm heading out now to pick you and Willow up. See you within twenty minutes.

Once the message was sent, Enver grabbed his light carry-on bag, did the usual goodbye with Grace, who would be watched by one of the two-maybe three women he trusted her life with and headed to the garage where his black SPYDER was parked.

He threw the bag in the boot of the car, slammed the boot closed and dropped the car in reverse once he was in and the key flipped the ignition to go time. Twenty minutes turned into twenty-five, but Enver wasn't overly worried or concerned with time. Once they checked in with the airlines, it was pretty much smooth sailing from there on out in his mind. Well, minus customs, but Enver had paid extra to already be registered with the US government [being a legal citizen and all], so he wouldn't have many issues. Hopefully, Meara wouldn't.

He found a parking spot, then shut the engine off and moved towards the familiar apartment complex. He made his way inside and, like the night before, knocked on her door. Only this time, Enver was by himself and didn't have to worry about a third wheel in this instance.

Meara was sitting on her rollerboard as she struggled closing the slightly over stuffed bag shut when her cellphone started to buzz. Blue eyes glanced around the room in search of the device, trying to locate the noise when her eyes landed on Willow. Her fluffy butt was sitting on the device and muffling its jingle. “Furbaby.” Meara cooed at the animal. “Can mommy have her phone.” Willow looked back at Meara and ran over to climb up onto the redhead and lick at her face. Laughing, Meara reached down to snag the phone. A thumb swipe to the right and the text popped up for her to read. And like that Meara was scurrying around her apartment to round up her things. She pulled the now zipped suitcase over towards the door then went back for her violin case before doing a last check.

As Meara walked through the small space, she collected Willow’s necessities and stuffed them into her backpack alongside stacks of sheet music, a MacBook, passport, and wallet. She was about to corale Willow onto her leash when three was a knock, causing the pup to bolt off to investigate. As she turned the corner, the corgi was scratching at the door as if she wanted to get through it. She stooped to pick up the dog, Meara clipped on the leash before opening the door. “Hi Enver! I’m ready for my adventure.” She giggled as placed the pupd own and put on her backpack. “Up could you help with the luggage? I have manage Willow, the case and that.” She gestured with her free hand to the black hardcase before she picked her instrument up and prepared to follow him out.

When his eyes fell on Meara, Enver grinned a little. Her personality and clothing could be described as eccentric, or..young. Nothing wrong with either, he'd been known to wear 'interesting' things from time to time, and her being young was just that. Still, Enver often forgot that he was the exception to the rule in terms of vampires, and often found himself remembering how old he was compared to the majority.

"Sure. Not a problem." Enver said with a nod of his head, before grabbing the luggage. "We can talk about your adventure on the e plane. There's a few choices that hopefully, one will interest you." Fingers crossed. Enver glanced at everything Meara was trying to juggle, and laughed. "Let me take something else." He offered, before grabbing a small bag from her.

Once he juggled everything in his arms, Enver led the way to his car. It was a good thing he packed light. Not that he was judging. Women needed more things usually, and he had clothes back at 'home.' He set the bags down on the sidewalk, then fished out the keys to pop the boot. Once open, Enver started to strategically arrange things in the small boot. With success, he slammed it closed and grinned wide to his traveling companion. "We might have room in the boot for Willow....kidding. she'll have to sit on your lap." He stated before opening the passenger door for the both of them, and waited until she was settled before closing the door. He moved around the hood of the car, got in, buckled up and somewhat aggressively, took them towards the airport.

Meara was glad to have Willow perched on her lap as they drove across town to the airport as the small dog tended to get rather excitable because she loved going for drives. As despite how fast Enver was driving, Willow was standing on her hind legs, paws on the door as she watched the world pass by. Meara too would watch as she had never been to the airport here yet. She had only driven into and out of the city. In fact she had only been on a plane a small handful of times. While they drove, a variety of questions started to bubble up in Meara's mind about the excursion they were about to undertake. What were the options? How long had be been in Harper Rock? Was it possible to be successful as a vampire in the human world?

In fact Meara sort of got lost in her own thoughts during the drive to the point she was quiet as the world passed by. She snapped out of her daydream as the car came to an abrupt stop in front of the airport terminal. Hurriedly, Meara exited the vehicle, and collected her things from the car. Willow walked along side Meara's suitcase as she wheeled it up to the check in line. As Harper Rock was small, it took no time for them to make their way through security, Meara's U.S passport ensured she had no problems. It seemed they were cutting it a little close, as the plane was already boarding when they got to the gate. Maybe that was why Enver was driving so fast. So, MEara focused on getting herself and the dog situated before she would worry about asking the myriad of questions on her mind.

"So Enver, how did one such as yourself come to be so well connected in the industry? If you don't mind me asking of course." Meara smoothed her hand over Willow's back as she got settled in her seat. "I've been working in music professionally for maybe 10 years now? And I've never had this sort of big break." The excitement she was experiencing was plain writ on her features. Meara had never been to California, let alone Hollywood in her 28 years on this spinning piece of rock humans called home. And she was determined to make the best of it.
