Amalea
A single eyebrow rose at the question given it wasn't the first time she had been asked that recently, "I don't but I could likely have a sketch made of him."
Every
nodded lightly, "If you don't mind, I could pay you for your time? You mentioned a group, and I've been dealing with a few as of late. A woman and a man. I won't antagonize this Gideon if he hasn't done already to me."
Amalea
smiled, "I don't mind at all. I know of a male I've seen him with, given they've both attacked me in the past and I know he associates with Mona McGee - you know the reporter for the Sun?"
Every
nodded, "I know of her, she's been around and kept under the radar while Ty was hunting the paladin. We knew her name, not her face."
Amalea
"She's a pest," the red-head shook her head. "Talk about biased media."
Every
snickered, "Well, that doesn't really surprise me. Plus, it's a tabloid. Can't really take anything written in those seriously, don't know how the public can."
Amalea
giggled, "They took also Twilight seriously... and Fifty Shades.... So I'm not sure it can be explained."
Every
shuddered, "Ugh, yeah. That's a fair point, I remember when someone tried to make that argument to me - that we'd be liked strictly because of Twilight."
Amalea
twitched, "Someone tried that on me too... Not happening, especially given there's no sparkling, no daywalking for the majority and Edward is a freaking stalker psychopath."
Every
nodded in agreement. "Yeah, let's just sat I've never given the majority of other vampires hope until recently. Plus, with everything going around, might as well decide on our own terms when to 'come out of the shadows' as my jackass cousin likes to put it."
Amalea
Amalea laughed, she couldn't help it, "Can't say I blame you. I've been around years and I still am wary about some of them; they don't play well with others. At least you have to give Enver some credit, I haven't heard a word of him knocking some human up with a fadebaby."
Every
Every cringed at the mention of a fadebaby. "Those things are nasty, I feel bad for any human that died that way - they take a lot out of us, too." Thinking about her own near experience, there was a little shudder. She then lifted a shoulder, "I'm a better vampire than I was human, admittedly." Every folded her arms in front of her chest, "But, I do have to thank you. And I will certainly pay you for the sketch, too."
Amalea
"I prefer not to find that out first hand, even if I heal a lot faster than most humans," she shuddered. "I think a lot of vampires are great people." She smiled, "It's no trouble, you're not the first to ask recently. So I'm thinking this ones the head trouble maker."
Every
nodded, "Yeah, that's why I was a little bit puzzled at that Lockland guy saying vampires are more prone to attack. I might be antagonistic to some, but I can only count two vampires off the top of my head who have ever attacked me. Pratt and some chick, Liliana." She shook her head. A frown played across her lips, "Sounds about right. It's about time they have another stepping up."
Amalea
"I've only been attacked by humans; never vampires. Hell, no one's even tried for a nibble in years," she chuckled softly. "I think vampires are more territorial, honestly. And given their history, that's not surprising, but I don't think many really go gung-ho on it unless provoked."
Every
"I think a lot of us are that way. We don't want trouble, but we don't particularly want to be bothered. It took me getting tired of the asshat shooting at me to actually publically acknowledge what I am today." She scratched at the underside of her arm. "I don't see myself better than humans. I never have, even when I was hunting under the masquerade. Yes, I'm stronger, but mentality wise, they've got us beat, I feel."
Amalea
"Their major advantage is that they can quickly come together as an unit when faced with a massive problem," she sighed, "Vampires are stronger and have special abilities, but, until they learn that one key skill from the humans, it's going to be a train wreck."
Every
Her lips twitched in amusement, "Some of us used to have that down to a T, but even then, our difference in opinions could start fighting. Truthfully, I don't want to die. I'll fight for my survival, but I don't want to see anyone in a second genocide. And we'll never reach it until everyone shuts the hell up and considers it. Individuals such as Ripper throwing accusals won't do anything but get a bullet in us."
Amalea
"I can believe that. When I first came to the city, I worked at the Necro, and people mingled there with no issues. Even the Broussard issue was handled better than this last one. So at least there's hope given the past." She smiled, "I don't think any of you want to die. Unless they're addicted to the Shadow Realm and frankly, I can't see why anyone would want to go there." She twitched at the mention of Ripper, "I could make a very strong case for force-feeding him the cure and then shooting him."
Every
"I was perfectly happy appearing to be human." She said with a shrug of the shoulder. The shadow had a fair complexion and didn't look deathly, and she'd learned to protect her shadow. With the exception of her aura, she looked human. "It's a terrible place and I did used to wonder if some had an addiction with how often I sent them there." She crinkled her nose. "You and me both. As it is, if he can't get in during the black tie event, I didn't do it." An innocent grin was given.
Amalea
"It still amazes me that some of you can do that," Amalea shook her head. "Then again, it's a good source of amusement to me to watch an uninitiated human interact with one of them." She shuddered at the mention of the woman getting to see that horrid realm frequently, "Horrible. I'll certainly pass on that if at all possible." Smirking lightly, she laughed quietly, "Of course not. It'd have to be a figment of his imagination perceiving that slight against his person." She winked.
Every
"The shadow used to require a lot of concentration, but I do it automatically now," She looked at the spot where she'd cut herself earlier, the wound already healed, "Oh, certainly. Some people are nonethewiser. I prefer it that way, personally." She chuckled, "I definitely suggest it. If you find yourself being able to tug at a rift to open a door way, don't do it. Fadewalking isn't bad, but still unpleasant." A snicker escaped past her lips afterwards, "Good to see we're on the same page. Although, if he bitches, he brought it upon himself trying to start something."
Amalea
"Certainly comes in handy... pun not intended," she snickered, indicating Every's hand. "Keeps questions to a minimum, usually." The blood thief sometimes had access to fadewalking abilities, but she wasn't going to open that can of worms. "I'll take that advice. I don't want to be the first human to attempt that and find out I'm stuck there. Nevermind I have no desire to visit in the first place." She grinned, "I'm sure he'll blame me for it, which is fine in my book. A quiet party is worth it. Though, I agree, he brings it and a lot of other things, on himself."
Every
Her lips twitched, "Yeah, when one sees you bleed black inky stuff that turns into smoke, they tend to shut up or scream." A roll of her hazel eyes were given as she gave a nod of her head, "Well, if it ever comes to it, I know you've got some that will go looking for you. Myself included." She offered a half smile. Laughing, she agreed. "Like I said earlier, he talks out of his ***. When he mentioned the FDA, I almost pointed out that's American ground. Canada has an entirely different system."
Amalea
"Or pass out, seen that too," she giggled. "Personally, I think it's fun and different from the others." The woman's statement about looking for her caught the red-head off guard. "Thank you," she smiled in appreciation. She couldn't help but laugh, "Perhaps his *** does the talking? I'm glad someone else noticed that. Though, really...the government developed it, does anyone sensible really think they took it through the proper channels for approval?"
Every
She nodded, laughing, "Yeah, I've seen that. Or question their sanity, I think that's my favorite." She put her hands back into the pockets of her jeans as they had been there before. "It wouldn't surprise me, honestly. I've learned not to believe a word out of his mouth, and I won't be surprised if anything said here tonight gets leaked out towards others." She tilted her head in consideration, "From the email fragments I've seen, they pity us more than anything, but I can't see the government doing anything properly when it comes to grabbing vampires off the street. They did intend for it to become voluntary, though. One of their subjects seems to have escaped, too."
Amalea
"Oh that's a good one, wish I got to see it." She rolled her eyes at the mention of the male, "Me neither, especially if he does know where the cure is. I'm fairly certain he doesn't have it and I know if I had it, I wouldn't be telling a lot of people about it, so I'd hazard he's working with someone if his information is accurate. We already know from the last -canceled- townhall meeting that he has no issue people people at risk." She sighed as she shook her head, "I've seen some of the fragments, but I still can't help but wonder why the need for secrecy if it was borne from pity and the desire for it to be voluntary. Had they made it known, I'm sure they would have had plenty of volunteers to test on and less backlash."
Every
"I don't think he does. He mentioned respecting their privacy, and if that were the case, he wouldn't have opened his mouth in the first place. I think he just wants to feel important because he keeps pissing everyone off." She then sighed, "I was actually looking forward, to that, too. Now that everyone is trying to work together, and the ones who caused trouble aren't here, we could actually do something." She moved her hand to scratch at her cheek. "It's the government, honestly. Who knows. There's still something fishy going on regarding - not to mention, I don't understand how someone can cure the biology that some we have - like myself, for example. It doesn't make any logical sense."
Amalea
"Very true, on all accounts. He wants people to give him attention and time, but withhold key bits of information." She nodded, "As was I. The first was a success. I was bloody furious it was canceled due to his actions. I think what really got me was his apparent attempt to wave it off saying he had it all covered. But had no idea of the rules of the venue and I know he didn't ask Doc about it." Sighing, she agreed, "It's a shame, really. They could be doing better things with their time. I don't get how it can work either. How do you strip supernatural abilities out of something that's mainly spirit and expect it to keep living? What would happen if an elder took it? Would they turn into the 20something they were when they were turned, or would the 500+ years catch up and cause them to die upon taking it?"
Every
The brunette gave a sigh as she considered it all. "Yeah, it's just a front it appears. I'm still hoping Doc'll reconsider if we lock him out - there's usually some leeway in the long run. Even if he won't do it, I will." She tugged at some of her hair. "It's hard to believe it actually may potentially work strictly because of that. I've been this way for nearly six years, I can't even remotely imagine how it would work on an elder." She frowned, "I don't particularly mind the idea of certain individuals taking it and getting shot, but then again, I'm sure some could say the same about me. It'd be something we'd have to observe and test ourselves with the willing."
Amalea
"I'd be more than happy to help with the locking if Doc could be convinced to reconsider. I think those meetings have great potential... as long as people realize I'm not going anywhere!" She smiled cheekily, having heard that was the justification of some for inviting all humans. "It'd be interesting to see the notes and have them gone over by a vampire scientist or vampire-owned lab. They might be more beneficial than the actual cure."
Every
"Honestly, you're trustworthy. If we open it to more humans, we'll end up with the triggerhappy sort and I get shot enough as it is. One thing we could do is keep changing the venue so that it can't be predicted, announce the next hosted venue at the last." She considered it, humming. Maybe she'll ask Doc and see if it can be worked out. She did need to start working on Jayden's ski resort opening soon. "I certainly agree."
Amalea
Laughing quietly, she shook her head, "After six years, I would hope more would have seen that. Could you imagine an angry group of paladins showing up to one of these? Even withe Eirenes in place, there's nothing stopping them from coming and making their list of targets from that." She shook her head, "And yet people couldn't see it that way. Changing the venue and only announcing it at the last moment might help." She ran through a list of items for the ritual, "Need to stock up on some blood and antiques just in case. Damn picky fae."
Every
She gave a shake of her head, "I think the majority of people bitching didn't know it was you, and they were new. Some of us didn't really care. People ***** to *****, really." It was just a common subject in the city, "That's one of the main reasons I was reluctant to come tonight, to speak openly." She shook her head softly. At the mention of antiques, she then nodded, "I'll look around. I can get the antiques without any issue, but the blood will be a bit of a pain in the ***. I remember looking for Micah. I'll ask around though. Luckily, some of us know the majority of the paladin so we do have that in our favor. Maybe we can use that in our own favor - redirect their credibility or something."
Amalea
"Fair enough," she shook her head, amazed on how acceptable some found it. "They certainly do. They need social lives that keep them busy." Either that or to take a long vacation, though she wasn't about to say that aloud. "I don't blame you. I figured I'd be the only human to be on the panel, though I'm surprised by both the panel and audience turnout." She smiled, "I'd appreciate it. I can never seem to get my hands on them unless from another. The blood is the main issue since it seems to be so rare, but if I can get those three item in a decent amount, I'd be happy to coax the fae into protecting each venue." Nodding, she considered the statement, "It would be a good boon if it could be done."
Every
"If people had social lives, what else would we have to complain about but there lack thereof?" There was a grin on her lips as he said it, "There's usually always someone in this city who wants to fix something, but lacks the platform they need to do it. It's a matter of finding compromise." She shrugged her shoulders, shifting her weight, "Yeah, I can't remember the last time I was able to get some. I used to be able to do the ritual where I could track paladin down for it, but now its hit or miss. I'll get there, though."
Amalea
She snorted lightly, "I'm not sure if some people know the meaning of compromise, which is probably part of the issue." Her red tresses shook lightly, "Nor I. I can do the ritual, but one of the components also seems to be something only paladins lug around, which is a bit restricting. I swear the fae enjoy that irony"
Every
"Maybe we ought to hit them all with dictionaries. Might save us the time and patience in the long run, really." Every gave a shake of her head despite the visible smirk on her lips, "We'll be able to find them, though, maybe we'll get lucky and someone will have a stash of it hidden away."
Amalea
Laughing, she smiled, "Now there's a solution that could work and even if didn't, isn't time consuming." Perhaps she'd have to order a bunch and give them as gifts this year, "I have no doubt. There's got to be at least one hoarder in the city, statistically."
Every
She snickered, clearly pleased about it. Every wondered if she could get it from her sire, debating about it silently. "Well. I know of a few, it's a matter if they have any and if I can get it from them, but I'll definitely ask around. My childe actually might have a large collection of them, now that I think of it."
Amalea
nodded quietly. "I will do some asking around of my own and see what I can get my hands on. Thankfully, only one of each is required per a casting. It'd be a nightmare if one was a binding ingredient." She shuddered lightly at the thought, "I'd be happy to pay for any of them."
Every
smiled, giving a nod of her head, "Yeah, that'd be a pain in the ***. I remember rituals. Definitely wasn't my thing. It sounds good to me though." Her phone began to vibrate in her pocket, the quiet singing chime telling her who it was. "I should probably set away for the evening. But it was very nice speaking to you, Amalea."
Amalea
"I don't mind them. Then again, the fae don't give me quite as many issues as they give you guys. Sometimes, even that bit of extra cooperation helps." The interruption of the phone surprised the red-head who hadn't realized everyone else had left. "Always a pleasure. Have a wonderful evening."
Every
"Yeah, they don't like us too much." She'd felt their issues, too. "You, too." Every smiled as she turned and headed out to her truck.
