Should I buy a business?

Ok so I've been getting roughly $280 daily on two different accounts who are employed (two different companies though) and both now have enough to actually buy their own company, as a company is 20,000 and both have plenty more then that.

While having a very reliable income is very useful, it's not a particularly high one. So it can take a very considerable amount of time to obtain any serious funds to use for something.

I don't have a location I can link it to so I was wondering about any specifics people could give me about an income gotten otherwise. Because when I use a telepath character and look at people's memories, anyone who has a business is usually making significant more profit.

So basically:
Is it worth it to buy a company (what are the profits/difficulties/etc)?
If I do buy a company, does legal or organized crime alter how it functions grid wise?
Are there any grid dangers or things too look out for when buying a company?

Businesses, if done correctly, are a very good source of income in the game.

Freyja brings in between 16k-18k a day from her businesses alone.

The exp loss is a little high, depending on your level. (Freyja's level 50 and only gets 198 exp per business), but the cash gains are pretty great. Plus, it gives you an opportunity to connect and help other characters with jobs.

The only thing that legal vs organized crime changes is the situations that you answer daily for your business. Basically, a multiple choice question you get every day at day change. Organized crime earns a little more on the maximum side, but its lower end is lower, too, so it fluctuates earnings a lot more than a legal business does. Legal doesn't climb as high on the earnings, but it's very steady in how much it makes. I think the fluctuation on most of mine has only been like $500? Nothing too major.

On the grid, you don't have to worry about much. Unless you bind your business to a property, then your earnings are increased by foot traffic in and out of the building it's bound to. Your stats matter in that whichever stats you have that are high will effect which answer to your daily dilemma is the correct one, which one is great, and which ones are bad.

I've had excellent experience with going charisma/speech for mine, but not everyone goes that route. You can have stamina for janitorial answers, or intel for moneywise answers, etc, etc. The start is a little rough sometimes, but once you've got your legs under you, businesses are great in my opinion. Lots and lots of rp options there, as well as gathering money quickly and very easily. It's all up to you and what you're after.

Freyja has it pretty much covered with some of the answers, but you can also check out the couple of wiki pages:

Ah I see, that certainly helps clear up a lot.

Thanks! I believe I can go off of this information in making my decision.

I've had great luck with having mechanics and stealing overlapping Business. A lot of the daily dilemmas can drop an extra 500 bucks on top of the daily profit if you that 'great' result and I find that Alex almost always does with her skillset.

Her three average between 3900 and 4400 profits with having the QCC foot traffic and the pluto band relic. The energy cost in regards to exp gain hurts a little as was already said but my gal mostly gets 230-250 per business. When she needs to craft those B&E gizmos, she gains a lot less per energy point however so it balances out, imo. Plus with Daywalker and a high stamina, I hardly ever have issues with grinding on grid in whatever other ways I feel like that day. All in all, I give having a business two thumbs up. :D

Great to hear!
Basically just got one started for this character, hopefully all this will work out then.
