summer evenings [invite]

“Can you be a little less difficult?” The question was directed to her thrall as she removed the lighter from her pocket, the smell of gasoline assaulting her senses as a light breeze blew it directly at her. Stepping two feet to her right, the offensive breeze went away and she could properly crouch down without worry. Although it was still technically summer, Every was ready for the coolness of fall even if she couldn’t feel it properly. She was ready for the winter, and the enjoyment that would come with being able to snowboard in the evenings - just as she would surf, if she got the chance.
A bonfire, she felt, would be a perfect way to kick off the cooler weather, not that it was sweater weather, yet. In fact, her jacket sat on a nearby wooden bench and a simple black racerback tank top clung to her slender form. Not a necessity, but to simply only appear that she did. Although the masquerade had fallen the previous year, Every wasn’t quite ready to give up her secrecy any more than what had already been given. As far as she didn’t clearly out herself, there was always the ability to make the person claiming what she was to appear insane.
Human wasn’t specifically the way she looked, but healthy - her skin didn’t have the lack of color to it, but she’d lost her tan over the years that she’d been a vampire. Pausing to scratch her nails against her tattooed wrist, Every then thumbed her lighter before setting it to the brush. It ignited quickly, the smell of burning leaves and paper mixing in the sweet, cool air as she crinkled her nose briefly and straightened back up. Afterwards, she shouted, “Jayd, if you vomit up s'mores on my rug tonight, you’re buying me a new one.”
