Celebration among friends

Post by Storyteller »

Doc
Doc was sitting at the table by the piano, and noted her entrance. "There she is..!" He looked at his bartender, "That's the birthday girl. All her drinks are on the house.. "

Amalea
laughed softly as she made her way over to where he was seated; she did acknowledge the semi-introduction with a small wave towards the bartender. "Evening."

Doc
"Hope you dont mind.. I called a few people.." He said, just as Elizabeth entered. Doc watched to see if anyone came with her. 'Hmm' he said more to himself than anyone. He stood up as Amalea got closer, pulling out a chair for her. He stayed standing as he waited for Lizzie"

Elizabeth
slowly entered Yin with a small box in hand, her eyes flicking around to look for the woman who apparently had a birthday. Elizabeth moved towards the bar and took a seat to the left of Amalea and offered the woman a small smile. "Happy Birthday. It is not much, but..." She set the small gold wrapped box on the counter in front of her, then acknowledged Doc. "Good evening, Charles." The woman smoothed out the material of the black dress that rested down the entire length of her legs.

Doc
When Doc saw the gift. ****. 'I didn't get a ******* gift'. Aloud he said, "I am a ******* idiot. I didnt get you anything. I am sorry!"

Amalea
Amalea shook her head lightly, "I don't mind at all." She slid into the offered seat with a smile. She could already tell that this was going to be an interesting night. "Thank you, Elizabeth." She paused as she accepted the box, "It is Elizabeth, isn't it?" Dear god... what did one do with gifts? Was she supposed to open this now? Her thought process was gratefully interrupted by Doc. She looked at him oddly, "It's fine, really."

Elizabeth
could be the bigger and better person after yesterday's fiasco and so Elizabeth tsk'd at Doc's remark. "You most certainly did. When you invited me, do you not recall the suggestion of jewelry? Which is why I had your half of the bill sent to your work." Hopefully, Amalea liked it even a little bit, or Doc was probably better off not being included in the gift. "I would appreciate the biggest glass of bourbon that one may have at one time, please." Elizabeth turned her attention to the bartender, giving him a somewhat pleading look.

Elizabeth
"It is, yes." Elizabeth nodded slowly as the bartender poured her the requested drink. "Some call me Liz, if that suits thee better." Elizabeth turned to look down the length of the bar, then took a deep breath in as she thought about Alexandrea

Elizabeth

Doc
Doc looked at Amalea, "Kid.. I am sorry. It .. just went out of my head.. " As Elizabeth spoke, the look of relief on his face was obvious. He took Lizzie's hand and kissed it. "You are a lady, Thank you. I will get you the best and biggest glass you have ever seen." He moved off behind the bar, and pulled down a Tom Collins Glass, and filled it to the brim with the bars best bourbon. " He set it in front of Lizzie. Then he got a glass of champagne for Amalea.

Amalea
"Sometimes I can be horrible with names," she confessed. The red-head gave Doc a look that clearly said that it was fine; she hadn't expected anything from anyone, just for a pleasant evening. Quietly, she slid her finger along the wrapping of the box to loosen the paper. Setting it aside, she opened the box to reveal a leaf-shaped pendant that was perfectly suited to her. Looking up, she smiled at the pair, "It's quite beautiful, thank you." (( http://www.mooncalfstudios.com/pathofth ... id=6975013 ))

Doc
Doc leaned on the bar from the backside, and looked at the Amalea, then Lizzie, and sent her a telepathic message, ~I owe you.. thank you~. Aloud, he said, "Your friend didn't want to come?"

Elizabeth
"You are most welcome, though it was all Doc's suggestion." Elizabeth glanced down at the drink, then at him. "Thank you for the drink." Her thoughts lingered to him. *think nothing of it. * the glass was brought to her lips so a quarter of the drink could be absorbed. "I had not thought to ask." It was strange that Doc believed her thrall to be her friend, but perhaps he was. Elise had been a friend, as had Lana. Something to think about later.

Doc
"Really?" Doc found that a bit of a misnomer. "Does he not drink? It can be awkward I suppose. He seemed like he wanted to get involved in things at the townhall thing." He paused and leaned back "And I have another one planned.. September 22.. "

Amalea
Amalea had replaced the lid on the box and set it aside. She nodded at Liz's comment; she was appreciative no matter who had chosen it. She quietly watched the pair as she sipped her drink. Her attention was peeked by the mention of the next townhall meeting.

Doc
"At the Voodoo again. It is a location everyone knows. I really want as many different views as possible." He looked at Amalea and the Lizzie. "I am debating running for office."

Doc
(the = then)

Elizabeth
Elizabeth nodded her head and took another drink..."Yes, so I heard." Elizabeth commented idly, recalling where and who she heard it from first, before moving past the entire ordeal and finally realizing who Doc meant. "It is doubtful he drinks, though I had not thought to ever ask." She lifted her shoulders slightly, before tilting her head a little. "You could...it may be wise, all things considered."

Doc
"You both know.. I ..never thought I would be good face for the Vampire race. I still do not. But politics.. not that I ever really gave it a serious thought until recently.. but politics would be a better fit. Odds are unlikely that I actually get voted in. But it bring the issue to the foreground." He looked between them, for their thoughts.

Amalea
The date was already on her calendar, thanks to a little birdie. "I hope the turnout is larger for this one now that it isn't a novelty," Amalea commented. She nodded her head in agreement with Liz's statement that it would be a wise venture. "It would certainly bring the issue into the light. Have you given thought as to which office you would look to seek?"

Elizabeth
nodded her head, peered over at Amalea, then spoke. "There are both positives and negatives to what it is you feel the need to do." Elizabeth glanced down to the watch on her wrist. There was absolutely no way she was opening that can of worms tonight. Not after last night. "Yes, which office?"

Doc
"As much as I would like to full bore for Mayor.. I think it would be more palatable for most if it was a Commissioner or something along that line. I could see . .that going for the highest seat could be a detrimental to us, which would set us back.. not move us forward."

Elizabeth
"I think that is a wise decision." Elizabeth agreed, before she frowned. A hand went to her left temple, briefly, before she finished the drink. "Perhaps after, if things go well, one could think of a higher position, or think of bringing another in...two indivduals with city power may not be a bad thing. If things go positively."

Amalea
Amalea could see the sense in starting smaller. "Mayor would likely be too much too soon with many seeing it as a move to set-up a city takeover and place it under vampire control." She knew how much of a disaster that could be, "A less important but still visible position would be ideal." She nodded at Liz's point, "Slow and steady."

Doc
Doc nodded. "Yes.. I was thinking small. " He gave them both a rueful look. "And I have anger issues. I know this. I would hate to **** up and in turn **** us all over. But small regional commissioner.. that's tough on crime.. and all for more parking.. I think I could justify any angery outbursts.."

Elizabeth
Elizabeth was not familiar with the local law enforcement or any positions of influence in the human world, outside of the mayor given the elections not that long ago. Regardless, if Doc believed himself a good candidate for a certain position, Elizabeth tended to agree. So, she nodded again and then glanced around in mild curiousity.

Amalea
Amalea giggled softly, "I think the parking around here would justify anyone's angry outbursts." She turned more serious, "The reasoning is sound and it would be a good entry position into the political arena. Especially with the stance of being tough on crime. lord knows most the humans would be all for that with all the gang activity."

Doc
"Yes if I can get through the election without my history with Tytonidae coming out. I would like to think that all vampires would agree to keep certain aspects of our ways silent. But I am not liked by some. So this still requires so serious contemplation before I can fully commit. Not out of fear for myself. But out of fear that it could turn the humans against us."

Amalea
"One would hope that they would see the necessity to keeping those aspects hidden. Not just, Tytonidae, of course, but I think it might be the one some won't understand the implications of humans becoming aware of the group. Even though it's a small group, humans only see what they want to see."

Elizabeth
"Yes, well perhaps one should think of hiring a campaign manager? Someone who has p-experience by the bucket full. "Elizabeth suggested, before she released her hold on the empty glass and then made her way out of her chair. "I seem slightly out of sorts on multiple accounts in this conversation. Much more would be achieved without unneccessary input. Excuse me." Elizabeth offered them both a smile before she moved to the piano and began to play a piece by Chopin.

Doc
Doc watched as Lizzie moved to the piano and started playing. He frowned, and looked at Amalea, "Was it something I said?" His voice was low, "I think I am doing alright.. next thing I know.. she walks out. What did I say that pissed her off this time?"

Doc
Doc looked at Jed, "Birthday girl.. " he points at Amalae, "First drink on the house.. whats your poison?"

Jedediah
Jedediah was wandering the mall looking for a shop with some nice steampunk boots for his laney, when he saw a higher class drinking establishment. Pausing for a moment he considered, then walked inside to see if theycaring anything good

Jedediah
nodding to the older man that had greeted him he queried, "Laphroaig Triple Wood, if you have it"

Amalea
Amalea had been on the cusp of asking him what she meant when he inquired the same of her. Her nose wrinkled as she thought over the last couple nights. She waved at the newcomer as she was pointed out, though she was till preoccupied with question. ~I don't think it was you or anything you said,~ she replied telepathically given the new arrival.

Doc
"ooo Laphroiag.. such lovely smokey finish... " Doc grabbed a bottle and the man a double shot. "Enjoy." He looked at Amalea and winked, "want to give it a try?" He held the bottle at the ready.

Jedediah
Jedediah glanced around at the clientele, it was a party.... but it seemed as if their were more breeds here than at a boarding kennel, humans, vampires, and a few... well he wasnt sure, and as always considered them the most dangerous. Cautiously he moved closer into the establishment as he waited on the answer

Jedediah
lifting the glass to his lips The necromancer gave a nod to the accrues company, and let a small sip wash over his lips and back into the glass as a small contended sigh escaped him. "nothing better"

Amalea
"I'll pass," Amalea laughed quietly, "Still working on the first one."

Elizabeth
glanced at the new arrival that she had never seen before while she played, then went back to the piece she was working on.

Doc
Doc grinned a crooked closed lip grin, "What do you say Kid? Do you want to try?" He pulled out a shot glass and filled it about one third of the way; and sat it next to her Champagne. "You are a year older, Kid. So you need a first. Your First Laphroaig.. " He winked at her.

Jedediah
Jedediah adjusted the brocaded vest he wore over the high collared shirt as his eyes swept across the hands of the ancient pocket watch chained to the vest. iIt was still early, perhaps he would pass some time here. As his head raised he momentarily caught the eyes of a regal looking beauty farther into the bar looking his way, and then off to her own business, and wondered of the ancient elegance apparent in hier poise

Mortll
walked in a huge box in her hands with a huge bow on it she had a couple of gift bags brimmig with stuffed paper

Doc
Doc saw Mortll enter, "Finally.. where have you been?" as he eyed the box, "What to show us up.. too.. "

Elizabeth
When the song ended, Elizabeth's eyes moved to the only person she was not familiar with, simply based on his appearance. She stood and moved away from the piano and as she approached the male, Elizabeth offered a hand to him. "I do not believe we have ever met. My name is Elizabeth." She offered with a smile.

Amalea
Amalea shook her head silently, amused. She 'd keep the list of firsts the night had brought already to herself and let Doc have his fun. She may be a year older, but that didn't stop her from sticking her tongue out at him as she picked up the shot glass and took a sip. "Definitely get that smokey finish you mention."

Mortll
smiled "Just a little something she offered the box to Amalea here you go darlin and just a few acessories to go with it " She nodded towards the bags "Happy Birthday "

Mortll

Doc
grinned at Amalea's reaction of sticking her tongue out. He didn't say anything, this was her night, and he didn't need to steal her spotlight. He was pleased that people came at late notice.

Jedediah
jedediahs eyebrows rose slightly as he appraised the woman headed his way. Although most would think his outfit dated, in truth he felt much better dressed than most he met. When he was out upon the town, His attire most often matched that of a well todo 19th century gentleman, the fads of today did not meet his exacting deamands. Taking the hand proffered him, a graceful bow allowed his lips to chastely graze the back of her hand, "My name is Jedediah, mi'lady"

Amalea
"Thanks. Evening, Mortll," Amalea greeted the woman as she took the offered box, eyeing the bags suspiciously. Setting the box on the table, she finagled it open and dug through the tissue paper to find a lovely dress. Carefully replacing the tissue paper, she set it aside. "Thank you, it's gorgeous"

Mortll
"Glad you like it i should have just bought you a new Gun "

Elizabeth
"Elizabeth." She corrected Jedediah firmly, before glancing to the piano. "Are you familiar with the piano? It seems the birthday girl is in need of the appropriate song." She offered with an extended hand towards the golden piano, before waiting to see if he would give it a shot, or decline.

Amalea
Amalea eyed the woman oddly, wondering what she did.

Mortll
laughed at the look " The guantlet is coming up you kick *** as is but everyone can use a good gun "

Jedediah
His eyes followed to the object of her attention as he once more let the fine scotch wash over his lips releasing the refined scent to his nostrils. A small nod acknowledeged her words, "Elizabeth" The name rolled over his tongue as smooth and smoking as the fine amber that filled the glass he could not drink. "A regal name, befitting. Alas, though these long fingers have the span, I have never acquired the skill, however... If you were to grace us with a likely ballad, perchance I could accompany" Reaching into his pocket he pulled forth a well worne, but obviously loved harmonica.

Amalea
"Oh, right," Amalea had forgotten about that. "As long as I don't end up against the resident giant first round."

Doc
Doc nudged Amalea, "I think you are about to be serenaded... "

Elizabeth
Elizabeth was about to head for the piano, when she saw what was pulled out and then stopped. "Apologies, but...what is that and what does it do?" Elizabeth pointed to the harmonica, having never seen one before.

Amalea
Amalea glanced at him oddly, before recalling that she had seen Elizabeth play the piano on other occasions. "She plays well."

Doc
Doc couldn't help but grin. Lizzie was single minded when she came across something new.

Jedediah
"A harmonica milady," Raising it to his mouth his deft fingers wrapped the teak and brass instrument as he prought it to his lips. The fingers of one hand trembled modulating the tone as he released a few notes to dance lightly in the air. Lowering it he smiled, " A sort of pocket sized bagpipes, if you will"

Elizabeth
Elizabeth listened to what was played and then nodded her head. That was an unexpected surprise. The woman moved to the piano, finally and began to play a rendition of the popular birthday song ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4sZmPHJPvZE )

Jedediah
Jedediah let the first few notes drift over him, drawing his body into a smooth sinuous wave as he brought the instrument to his pursed lips, bringing a slow easy melody to counterpoit of the well known tune slipping effortlessly from the womans wingers

Jedediah

Amalea
Amalea waved Mortll over to a seat at the table in silent invitation as she listened to the pair of talented musicians. It was certainly a novel experience.

Elizabeth
When the song ended, Elizabeth clapped her hands at Jedediah for his wonderful harmonica ability. Then she made a mental note to try and acquire one at some point, simply to see how it worked. She moved to where Amalea was at, then dipped her head to the woman. "I am afraid I must go. I have business matters to take care of. Do enjoy the rest of your evening. Charles." Elizabeth dipped her head in his direction before dipping it in Jedediahs direction as she left.

Mortll
smiled and took a seat she knew she had been teasing the young woman a little more than she really should have been lately she was glad Amalea had been a good sport about it. "They really are good .. You sure you dont want to become a vampire. Tonight would be a good turning day " Mortll smiled she was only half joking Amalea would make a excelent vampire

Amalea
"That was lovely; you play well," Amalea commented, "Thank you for coming. And thank you again, for the necklace." As Elizabeth left, she turned to smiled at Mortll. "They are," she agreed. She had to laugh silently given her earlier discussion with Doc. "Quite sure," she shook her head. "For at least a couple years, if not longer." She had to give the woman credit for trying and persistance.

Jedediah
Jededia lowered his hands slipping the harmonica to his pocket as the final notes wafted the air, sweeping his arm to his waist with a slight bow. A small smirk teased the corners of his lips as he touched his brow in imitation of tipping a stetson, "Well played....Elizabeth" His eys followed the woman as she left. It was a pity there were not more women, that valued the old ways. Her regal stance and poise, was a commodity in short supply. Turning to the human that stank of blood , he nodded his head, Good wishes on you today and in the future

Amalea
"Thank you," Amalea wasn't quite sure how to address him, "You play very well."

Mortll
eyed the male vampire that she had never met staying silent . She did not exactly trust too many in this city. So she stayed silent and let Amalea talk.

Amalea
"Penny for your thoughts." Amalea smiled at the woman playfully.

Mortll
"I was just wodering who your friend is i havnt ever had the pleasure of meeting him "

Amalea
"Neither have I, honestly."
