Congratulations! It's a....
Gideon had been insistent that Mona and he go to the hospital after the fiasco at the bank. More so for her sake, but he had been very insistent on the fact that he was riding with her because he was the father of whatever Mona was carrying inside of her. Didn't matter if it was a boy, or girl. It was his and so the baby and Mona needed to be check out to make sure she wasn't going to bleed to death from a stab wound, the baby wasn't under duress, and that neither of them would suffer any side effects from the tear gas. The cops in this city were dicks, Gideon came to realize and a couple of them were on his radar for making Mona get on her belly while she was as big as she was, while pregnant, and then throwing tear gas around like it was going out of style.
"We're almost there." Gideon said as he saw familiar buildings whipping by out the back window of the EMT unit. He gave Mona a reassuring smile, as the hand on her belly remained fixed on it. They had managed to slow the bleeding down (or so he assumed, unaware of what Amalea had done-or tried to do) on the way to the hospital. The bus stopped and the doors opened without any delay. "We've got a pregnant woman with a stab wound to her shoulder. Almost twenty weeks. BP and pulse fine. O2 fine." More stuff started getting rambled off, as the stretcher was taken off the bus and pushed towards the emergency exit.
Sir! Are you the father? Sir! Gideon's eyes narrowed as he nodded, that nod allowing him to follow Mona past the waiting room. Or, so he thought. Just as he got to the other set of doors, he was blocked by a woman who held up both hands. "Family only. We'll ask her if she wants you back here once we do a few things for her and the baby. If she does, we'll let you in. If not...just being here will make the difference. I'm sorry." She looked towards the security station, unsure how Gideon would react, before she bolted off through those magical door. If there weren't two guards and who knew however many more somewhere else in the building, he would have pushed his luck. Instead, Gideon glared at the guards through the bulletproof glass and then resigned himself to claiming a seat in the waiting room.

Re: Congratulations! It's a....
**** her shoulder was killing her the healing chant had tried to heal up the bleeding all she could guess was that it had nicked a artery. The constant pressure and the power working trying to close up the wound was keeping her from it . It just wasn't doing it quickly enough. The EMT's kept poking prodding and Monitoring her during the Ambulance ride and Gideon was there his hand firmly on her stomach. Mona it was strangely comforting and disturbing to Mona all at the same time ... She knew the child was his main concern. She did not know if she was or not despite their many weeks of living together.
It had been a adjustment for Mona but she had grown accustomed to having him around and here she was being rolled into a hospital Room and they were making him stay in the waiting room. Mona tried to tell them to let him in but the mask kept her from saying anything. The attendant just told her to relax and pushed her back down as she attempted to reach for him. Then there was a buzz around her they were cutting her clothes off of her and attaching tubes and sensors . Mona gave up fighting and let them take care of her. She tried to tell the Nurse that her OBGYN was Dr. Bakir when she heard the nurse " Doctor ... There is more than one heartbeat ... I cant tell how many this is but its more than one baby ...." The doctor snapping at her to take care of monitoring it this woman's going to surgery "

He needed to be back there sooner than later. After pacing the waiting room for three laps, Gideon found himself heading for the nurses station. "Look. I might not be her family. Her direct blood, but we're having a kid together and that means that kid is half her blood and half mine. I want to know how they're doing. I need to know." Gideon stood to his full height as both his hands came to rest on the counter above the woman's head who had just sat down a few seconds before. Which was probably why he gravitated towards that spot.
"Sir, going back there won't matter." Gideon sucked in a breath of air, wondering what the **** that meant. He was about to ask, but she kept going. "Your girlfriend is on her way to surgery-she's not back there. Her injury is far greater than we anticipated at first. But she and the babies will be fine." He licked his dry lips and nodded, looking to the doors he wasn't permitted to go through. Not without a key pass that he didn't have. "Thank you." Gideon said quietly, taking a couple deep breaths in. "Wait. Babies? More than one?" Gideon put a hand on the back of his head as he began to process the idea of not one, but two babies. But, it made sense. Gideon heard the saying someone was eating for two, but it seemed as if she were eating for three or four some nights. Not that he would stop her. Whatever Mona needed or wanted, whatever the baby-babies needed he would find a way to get. "Yes. Babies." The woman confirmed to a Gideon who just kept nodding his head, looking dumbstruck.
"Okay. Okay." Gideon said, his voice faded as he looked at those doors. How was he going to get past security and get a badge to swipe to get back there? The desire to get there only amplified with this new piece of information and it struck him. Literally. "Thanks." Gideon muttered as he headed towards the Emergency Room doors, and to the parking lot in a slow jog. He didn't even look as he entered the parking lot. He didn't need to. He heard the sharp pitch halt of breaks applied to tyres, before he was clipped from the side, and rolled over the hood of some green colored car.
It hurt more than he realized, but too late now. He kissed the concrete with his chest, felt the burn of skin on his wrist and knees as he bounced and then rolled across the parking lot. "HOLY **** BUDDY! YOU OKAY?" A guy called out as he opened up the driver's side door. "Stay right there!" He rushed into the emergency room, and soon there was a stretcher, two nurses and a doctor telling him to lay still as they slid him under a bright orange portable transport until to get him on a stretcher. "I think he's in shock. We talked about his girlfriend and the babies and next thing I know..." The nurse that had been behind the desk was now above him, looking down at Gideon. And while he looked up at her, he saw just what he needed. A badge swinging from her scrub tops as they wheeled him in, and she grabbed it to swipe it to let them back where Mona and the babies had been.

Re: Congratulations! It's a....
Mona was being rolled down a hall the lights seemed to flashing by very fast she didn't know if it were the stretchers speed or the drugs they had given her she was groggy and slipping into sleep. She heard the whoosh of the surgery room doors as they opened and the Nurses were buzzing around her prepping her quickly then she heard a voice and felt the mask being put over her face "Breath deeply Miss McGee just breath deeply ". The voice was soothing and relaxing ...
Mona woke up screaming her hand was clutching at her stomach... she looked around wildly. " My babies are my babies ok ?" she had grabbed the poor young nurse that had been attending to her by the collar of her shirt.
She glared at her wildly ... as she had slipped under Mona had seen a surgeon approaching or at least her mind had thought she had seen him the gleaming grin on those lips of that dead eyed monster that had been stalking her. What had he said .... "I hear 4 heartbeats Miss McGee" then laughed as he walked into the shadows of the sewers ... Mona had screamed in her dream . And now nurses were scrambling to calm her down Mona felt hands on her trying to restrain her and the nurse pushing the needle into her iv drip. Soon Mona was drifting back off and all the nurses could hear her mumble "No ,no not my babies no..." as she faded off .

As he made his way down the hallway and to his own room, Gideon looked around for Mona and the room she might be in. No luck. The nurse hadn't been lying, not that he thought as much, but Gideon was hopeful whatever was going on with Mona had been a quick fix sort of surgery. He knew though, that no matter what he wanted, that no one was in charge of what happened but the man upstairs himself, so patience would be a virtue in this scenario.
"Name?" He looked at admissions nurse and replied "Marcus Barnes." "Date of birth?" He sighed, then reached into his back pocket for his wallet, groaning when he felt his ribs stretch and pull. He shrugged, rolled over on his side and then pointed to the back pocket on his ***. "Everything you need is in there. Insurance stuff too." Gideon rubbed at the right set of his ribs, while she looked at him, then stood and fished his wallet out of his back pocket. "Can I make copies?" "Knock yourself out. Leave the cash though." He chuckled, but stopped short of it when he felt that pull again.
There was a rap on the door as the doctor from outside came in, after Gideon had been set up with his own set of monitors and given a quick once over for any evidence of breaks or fractures on his arms and legs, and a quick check of his head. "Have you been drinking, Mr. Barnes?" The female doctor asked before adding in, "On any medications?" "I wish, and no. Hey, know how Mona McGee is doing?"
"Mr. Barnes, emergency rooms are for people with real emergencies. Not for people who want to make an emergency." The doctor signed a few papers in her chart, before looking at him. "We're going to get a few x-rays of you, do an MRI too to make sure there's no internal damages and then, when everything checks out, I strongly suggest you..." She looked around and then lowered her voice. "Take a right at the nurses station and go to Room B. She should be back from surgery by then. Try not to die before then. All this could have been avoided if you would have waited a few more minutes." She moved out of the room as her eyes landed on the lab technician who was coming to get Marcus and start the round of x-rays.

Re: Congratulations! It's a....
There had been an explosion in the heart of the city, so it wasn’t surprising to Doc, when his pager went off. He still a practicing surgeon on a standby basis at Harper Rock General Hospital. Luckily for him, he didn’t need a car to get to the hospital. He could take a fade portal to the station and walk the rest of the way. The explosion had knocked out the electrical grid in a large portion of the city, and there traffic deadlocks everywhere.
Calling the hospital Doc informed them he was minutes away, when he found there was also a hostage situation in the city and he would probably be needed all night. Not a problem. He always enjoyed cutting into bodies, he would take would could get legally. He shrugged out of his shoulder holster, and changed his clothes to prepare for an all nighter. Less than twenty minutes later, he was entering the hospital.
The first few surgeries were straightforward foreign body removals. None of them required anything more than a local anesthetic. Flying glass had been the culprit in all the cases thus far. Doc was just finishing up on his last victim of flying glass, when the call came in that there multiple gunshot victims inbound. Being the standby surgeon, he was relegated to the less high profile nature of the wounded. A wounded police officer was the talk of the break room, when his pager went off. He used the break room phone to call for details. “Nilson here.”
Doc listened, nodding. “On my way..”
Another doctor, called out to him as he was leaving, “Did you get called to the GSW?”
Doc gave him a ruefully look, “No, nothing so glamorous, Pregnant with a stab wound.”
After getting scrubbed up, Doc entered the surgical theater and got his first look at his patient. He smirked behind his mask, it was none other than Mona McGee. She was out for the count. He started humming as he got to work. His movements were calm and concise. The only speaking was when he asked for an instrument or suture. As he got closed to finishing, he glanced at the nurse, “She’s young, lets see what we can do to lessen the scarring hmm?” He winked at the nurse.
Once more humming, he took his time making sure the surgical scarring would be fine and delicate. Given enough time, no one would even notice it. No one except Mona, and that was the point. Snipping the last suture, he spoke, “Alright people, let’s bring wake her up. She’s pregnant, we need clear her system, fetal monitors still looking good?”
The various nurses and Surgical assistants, hurried to monitor the babies and inject the mother with a counteracting agent to the anesthesia. One of the nurses spoke up. “We have this Doctor, it's been a long night you, let us finish up.”
Doc nodded, “It has, but I just want to make sure our patient is going to wake effectively before I head out. Pregnancies can be tricky for a woman. I would rather be on hand should things go south.”
“She’s coming around Doctor..”
“So she is.” Doc pulled his mask down and gave the waking female a hint of a smile, before leaving the surgical theater. He was humming as he left.

Mona was running she could hear the footsteps behind her. No matter how fast she ran the sharp quick sound that only a mans dress shoe could make was right behind her. It was him of course it was him. Who else would wear a suit in a sewer. If it were just her she would just stop and face the Evil ******** but it wasn't just her Her babies were crying in her arms as she ran Mona didn't realize how absurd it was how could you carry 3 babies at one time but she miraculously was and she was going to keep them safe or die trying. That was when she tripped. She went flying through the air with her babies in her arms and she was desperately twisting her body so that she landed on her back keeping them safe .
Then he was there She started scrambling back away from him her back hitting the sewer wall as he slowly approached. The glint in his eyes and the grin on his face as he bent and pried the babies out of her hands. Her screams falling on deaf ears. "You don't deserve these Miss McGee they will be better off without you Miss McGee." He smirked then smiled his fangs glistening in the dim light. "I do love the blood of the innocent "
He turned and walked away from her. Her children fading into the shadows with him. And Mona Screamed....
She awoke in the room sweat covered her face and she looked around wildly as she clutched at her still pregnant belly.

The MRI came back with no abnormalities of any kind. The x-ray wasn't as promising. A broken rib, which resulted in a prescription with the suggestion of a non-steroid anti-inflammatory. Gideon would have to take it easy for a few weeks, which was manageable. The babies weren't due for a while. Two babies. Twins weren't a thing in his family-not that he knew of. Maybe he would call back to Iowa to find out, but Gideon couldn't recall hearing anything about any family member who had an sister or brother born the same year on the same day.
With a semi-clean bill of health, Gideon was on his way out. He gingerly walked out of the borrowed room for the last couple of hours, and past the nurses station. Then, he unexpectedly took that right as instructed by the doctor, and headed to Mona's room. He was almost there when he heard some commotion from in her room. His steps took him faster, until he was right inside of the doorway and looking right at her. Then around the room. No one was there, but she looked as if she had seen a ghost or something.
"What's happened?" He asked, stuffing the paper prescription in his back pocket as he entered her room. "Are you okay? The twins okay?" Gideon asked quietly, his eyes moving down to the stomach she cradled protectively.

Mona was pale more from the realization that that monster was here and had touched her while she couldn't defend herself or her babies. She had not known how to tell Gideon that they were having more than one baby ...let alone three and that she had inadvertently put every single one of them in danger well before they had even been conceived. Now she was staring at him and realizing It was time for a lot of things.
"Gio ... He is here ... he did my surgery ... He threatened the babies I didn't know how to tell you that we were going to have Tripplets one was seeming to freak us both out ... I couldn't imagine how you would react to 3... "Monas frantic speech just poured out then tapered off. She wrung the sheet wither hands and tried to get up. That's when the pain hit her. It was gut wrenching in her stomach . She cried out and looking at Gideon wildly ... as the sheets became wet ... "Gio get a nurse ... Call Dr Bakir ... Don't let that monster near me again ... " Her eyes were pleading with him begging him and hoping he would understand .

Re: Congratulations! It's a....
There was a lot of different things being said all at one time. 'He.' Who the **** was 'he?' And then, it was solidified as to who 'he' was. The vampire doctor who liked to turn paladins. Gideon forgot the name, because he wasn't anything special; just another self-serving leech to Gideon. He bounced his head out the door to see if he could see any sign of the guy he had gotten into a brief fight with once or twice, before stilling in the doorway.
Three babies? They were having three babies? "Wow. Okay." Gideon felt his own color drain from his cheeks as he thought about what three meant. They didn't have sets of three-anything. Maybe clothing, but not three cribs, or three strollers. They weren't ready for three. Where would they fit three car seats? Now Gideon needed to get an actual car. No more taking the train, bus or cab anywhere. It was safer anyways-be it one, two, three or five babies.
"He's not delivering our babies." Gideon said firmly, before bolting to the nurses station. When he got there, he patted on the counter, then looked at everyone who looked at him. "She's having the babies!" he bellowed out, before running back to the room. The nurses would know what to do-who Mona was seeing for her pregnancy was in her charts. Had to be. Gideon had faith that everything would be fine, because as scary as **** this was, he remembered the scripture, 'God gives you more than you can handle, but he does not give you more than he can handle.' There would be struggles, but with he by Mona's side, and she by his, partnered with God, they could achieve everything. Suddenly, the room came to life. Three nurses; all doing different things, while ensuring Dr. Blair had been called, as they prepared her for the birth of their babies.
