The Harper Rock First National Bank is in the last moments of business before locking up for the day. The Bank manager, Mr. Davies, is hoping to have an easy closing, because he had a big day tomorrow. It was not to be. As if on cue, a rush of hurried customers piled through the entrance. The bank manager sent the two remaining tellers an apologetic look. It was as if he were silently saying.. ‘Sucks to be you .. I am outta here’.

However as the Bank manager attempted to leave, five hooded figures dressed in dark camo, carrying automatic weapons and duffel bags, came in from the west entrance, pushing Mr. Davies backward into the lobby. The last of the masked figures, held his ear and spoke something soft and unintelligible. The first of the masked figures took the bank manager by the throat placing the end of his automatic weapon to the bank manager’s head, and yelled, “EVERYBODY ON THE FLOOR.. THIS IS A ROBBERY!”

The four remaining figures hurriedly took positions in the four corners of the bank, showing no mercy to anyone in their way. Masked figure number 3, used the butt of their rifle into the face of the Security Guard, effectively knocking him out. The downed security officer was quickly disarmed, his weapon, radio, wallet, cell and other items confiscated. Number three then aimed their weapon at one of customer's’ head, in order to encourage speed. By their movements, it could be concluded this was not a hastily conceived idea. The first of the masked figures continued to give orders, “ON THE FLOOR.” He motioned to the tellers “You two, move out of there and get on the floor over there!” The four other masked men held their weapons at the ready, aimed at anyone that did not seem to be complying quickly enough.

Without warning, the bank was rocked by an explosion. The tables, chair and walls reverberated from the force of it. The customers that by now, were on the floor, stifled back the sounds of panic that would have happened had they not had firearms trained on them. The anxiety from the customers in the room was palpable, however none of the masked figures seemed at all surprised by the current events.

The hooded figures at the west entrances, closed the blinds and locked the doors. The first hooded man shoved the bank manager to the floor, just as the bank’s backup generators kicked in. “All wallets and cellphones.. Get them out and lay them by your head. No Phone.. You get a bullet. No Wallet.. You get a bullet? ARE WE CLEAR!?”

Unbeknownst to the people in the bank, the explosion down the street took out a main transformer for the city electrical grid, taking the bank and the surrounding buildings in a ten block radius into the black. Traffic lights went out, causing an immediate traffic snarl. The person responsible for the explosion also cut the land lines for the telephones, set up a cell jammer, and started a loop for the bank’s closed circuit security television system. The bank was effectively cut off from the outside.

Long legs carried her to the bank with haste, her salary a crinkled check within a torn envelope in her hand. If she could make it before they closed, then the money would be in her account before Wednesday and rent wouldn’t leave her overdrawn. If, however, she didn’t make it on time, her life would get infinitely more complicated than she’d like. With minutes to spare, Megan stepped through the front doors and made a beeline for the automated teller machine.

Throwing her head back in relief, the sorcerer thanked the stars for her luck, for within two days she’d be navigating in the financial clear once again. The machine flashed as her card was ejected from the slot, the receipt confirming her deposit crumpled and thrown into the paper basket at her feet. Stepping away from the wall, Megan returned the debit card back to her clutch wallet.

Both fell from her hands as the scene before her gave her mental whiplash. Her eyes widened as her mind was sent reeling. Realisation dawned on her milliseconds before an explosion erupted, and she hit the floor none too gracefully when the ground shook.

The bank sunk into darkness before the lights flickered back on, revealing the scene for what it was. The ringing in her good ear was deafening, leaving her completely cut off from any auditory cues that were given. From her prone position, she watched, noticing the security guard a few metres away from her laying stone cold in a growing puddle of blood. Her breath struggled to fill her lungs.

Don’t be a hero, the voice in her head warned her, the linoleum cold against her chin as she stretched across the floor. She did her best to keep her good ear facing the scene, but the words didn’t reach her with any measure of clarity over the tinnitus. Arms stretched before her, she pressed her fingers to the ground and focused. Every muscle was tense, coiled tight as building strength gave her some measure of comfort. Exhaling shakily, Megan sought serenity within, recycling her anxiety into something more useful.

There was no wallet to be seen next to her, for it was pressed into her stomach - underneath her, and her phone remained in her pocket. It didn’t occur to her to call the police. If anything, she was struggling to come to grips with just how badly her luck had turned.

by Gideon Barnes (DELETED 8781)
The situation at hand wasn't ideal. Mona lived in a tiny apartment and, well...Gideon lived in room number...23 was it? Either way, there was no way either of their living arrangements were equipped for what they were going to go through.

After a couple of days and nights, Gideon thought of the best possible plan for both of them and the soon to be scenario in their life. Two days ago he had stopped at this bank in particular to ask for a home loan. Not known to Mona, because Gideon-also known legally as Marcus Barnes, didn't know if he could get a loan, and even if he did, how much it would be for. People just didn't get loans for houses every day of the week. Or maybe they did. Who knew? He never thought much about it until three days ago.

It didn't mean anything to him, other than more space for their scenario. More space for baby stuff. Gideon was learning quickly that babies needed a lot of items. Cribs, strollers, toys, diapers, clothing. Which meant more space. He planned on broaching it to Mona after Gideon found out if he even got a loan and for how much.

"Mr. Barnes?" A voice called as the guy who owned it approached him. Gideon turned around in the couch he was sitting at, before he stood. "Yep." He said, extending a hand to the familiar Mr. Michaels, the guy who told him he should be able to get him a loan based off his credit score and current bank account standings. "Congratulations. You're pre-approved for a low interest mortgage rate...we can discuss the details over at my desk." He extended a hand to the familiar desk, as Gideon grinned.

He only had taken one step towards the beginning of something new-when all hell broke loose in the bank. Masked guys rushed in and started making demands and Mr. Michaels was on the floor before Gideon even looked back in his direction. It was the explosion that had him on his stomach, Gideon trying to figure out just what the hell made it and why it happened as his eyes searched the crowd to take in the injured, and the possible dead, before looking to see where the masked individuals ended up at. Slowly, he tossed his phone, but no one was getting his ******* wallet.

******* vampires, Mona thought as she pulled the bank door open. It had been months since she had outted the fucks. Her accounts were still occasionally getting hacked. This one had been the first in a while but that didn’t change the fact that Mona had to haul her *** down to the bank to do something about it. This time the manager was going to hear a thing or two about it. Five ******* accounts ago their security should have been beefed up. Mona had done her share she had scrubbed all of her computers. No account information no nothing it was now on the bank security and the fuckers were still getting in. Mona was livid **** them she would close out her accounts and go somewhere they were competent and could keep her money safe .

She stood there at the tellers window the plaque said the bimbo behind the glass name was Cindi. When the woman asked how she could help her all hell seemed to break loose in the bank. Mona turned her hand instinctively reaching for her gun. She quickly dropped it as the amount of men entering the door masked doubled. She might take out one or two of them quickly but the chances of the rest that were coming behind getting off a shot at her and hitting her were greatly increasing by the second. It was best to not let anyone know she was armed. She had more than just herself to think about and Mona wished she had worn her new vest but it was just a ******* quick trip to the bank. Gods in this city she was going to have to start sleeping in Kevlar. She slowly knelt down the explosion not rattling it as much as it probably should have. When you had been through earthquakes and buildings collapsing around you a little noise and rattling didn’t quite phase you as much.

Mona sucked in her breath as the guys waved around the guns demanding wallets and phones … Well she didn’t carry a purse and didn’t have any cash she reluctantly fished out her phone and slid it in front of her as the guy waved the gun in her direction … Ok Mona just let them take what they want Unless they try to **** with you and your baby …

by Amalea
Amalea cursed as she dodged through traffic trying to get to the bank before it closed. Having overslept by several hours, she knew that there was very little chance that she would be able to actually set up the accounts as she planned. At least, she should be able to pick up information on the accounts so she would be prepared tomorrow when she came back. There was no way she was going to insist on doing the paperwork today; that would be obnoxious and unfair to the poor banker who got stuck with her. No doubt they wanted to leave on time just like any sane person would.

Entering the bank, the red-head was glad that it seemed relatively quiet. It was only a couple minutes before there was a free teller. Stepping to the desk, she informed the woman that she was simply looking for information on a couple different types of accounts. The teller seemed to stare at her a moment before replying that she would need to talk to one of the account managers. Rather than wait for Amalea to ask where they were located, the woman told her that she would let them know there was someone waiting. Thanking the woman, the red- head moved away from the desk towards the waiting area to allow the next patron to take her place.

The sudden influx of customers surprised Amalea given it was a Monday at closing time. If it was a Thursday she’d certainly understand, but not a Monday. The contemplation of such oddities was cut short by the entrance of five armed, hooded figures. Inwardly, she groaned. The red-head was pretty sure the phrase ‘**** hitting the fan’ wasn’t going to cover this incident by the time it was over.

Deciding now was not the time to argue, the red-head quickly complied with the order. From her prone position, she tried to figure out where each of the hooded individuals were positioned. The way they acted with their deliberate movements reminded her of a well-rehearsed routine. There was no doubt in her mind that this had been carefully planned. She just couldn’t decide if that was better than a spur of the moment robbery. In any case, they were dangerous men that weren’t likely to hesitate to make good on their threats.

Amalea covered her head with her hands in response to the explosion plunging the bank into complete darkness with objects rattling around. The last thing she wanted at the moment was to end up unconscious due to falling objects. Being at the complete mercy of the hooded men was not her first choice; that thought scared her more than the fact they were pointing guns at people. The lights coming back on let her relax, but only barely.

Silently the red-head thanked whatever deity was watching over her as she actually remembered to grab both of the requested items on her way out the door. With slow, deliberate movements, she withdrew first her wallet and then her phone, placing them as demanded. At least she had forgotten to return her debit card to her wallet after her last purchase so that was safe as were the rest of her ‘toys’. Keeping an eye on the hooded men, she inwardly cursed that her latest power donor lacked any telepathic capabilities. That would have to change after she got out of this mess.

“I don’t ******* believe this ****!”

I say it like there is someone next to me to hear it when I do. All I got to look at is a poorly furnished office with the standard furniture. The kind that says nothing personal about the one who routinely uses it. I have so many loose ends that I need to tie up it is not even funny. Yet I am sitting on my *** in the bank office where I was supposed to be meeting with the one who needed a signature for my new, improved and far more secure account but was inevitably tied up elsewhere. The typical activity of quitting time is taking place beyond the small office walls and I am feeling the irritation that seems to be plaguing me more often than not rise to all new levels. I spot someone who looks like they are about to give me some attention but as soon as I stand up to get down to business the place starts turning into mass chaos.

I peek out of the office and discover a well organised take over of the bank. Obviously someone had some time on their hands to make it happen. I stay calm. I am like a fish put back in it's water. Anytime the odds increase that I could die it is always an adrenaline rush for me. Not one to waste valuable seconds I dial the number that will get some instant attention and leave the receiver on the surface of the desk just to be sure. I drop down out of view to buy some time. As threatening as it all appears to be I only hope I get to kill someone for all the time I wasted waiting for the one who never arrived. I should care more bout all the innocent people in the midst of this but really that would be making me out to be something I am not. I am looking forward to having the excuse to blow someone's head off.

While customers are rounded up like cattle on the floor I know it is only a matter of time before my body is accounted for by the ones making demands. I do what would be expected in this situation. I pull my wallet from my jacket and remove my only identification within which is my badge. I stuff it under the small space between the floor and the bookcase as I move around it. I got nothing else in my wallet other than the typical cards to get free coffee, doughnuts and the complimentary pedicure at the local mall. On the clock I don't carry anything else to identify me except my face. Which, given my track record, is what a few want to rearrange if they can get close enough to it. But identification and badge are always a no go if things are about to get rough despite whatever is shown in these scenarios in the movies or on t.v. Everyone wants to kill a cop. Well, everyone bold enough to attempt these types of bank heists that is.

I crawl on my elbows until I hear the heavy stampede of footfall of what has to be one of the crew calling the shots. I fold up out of view. I am about to make my first move when the sound of an explosion sends everything shaking and instantly black. My street attire will only keep my cover for so long. Hopefully these guys aren’t from the area. Just my luck. The lights go back on. I can only hope I haven’t been spotted. I really could use the excitement of taking down one or two bodies before this gets shut down.

Cindi and Helen, the bank tellers, gave each other wide eyed desperate looks as they left the shelter of the teller counter to be grouped with the others. One of the masked figures, did not think they were moving fast enough, and grabbed Cindi by the upper arm and hurled her effortlessly to the ground. Helen raised her hands and pleading in a shaky rattled voice, “I’m going.. I’m going!” Helen cowered on the floor with the customers. She tried to give them a reassuring smile. She had pressed the panic button at her station, but she wasn’t sure if it had gotten through. Everything seemed to happen so fast.

Masked figure number one pulled a bag from his duffel and shoved it at the bank manager. “Collect all phones and wallets.” Pushing the bank manager to get him moving, Number one said to Number Four “Round everyone up, put them in the conference room. If they give you trouble shoot them.”

The masked figures nodded to each other and set about reconnoitering and collecting any stragglers. Meanwhile Number and the bank manager were collecting phones and wallets.“Stop.” The two stopped in front of the Helen the teller and blonde female. There was no phone or wallet for either of them. Number One canted his head to the side. “Phone and Wallet!”

Shaking Helen tried to calm him down, “Please! I left it behind the counter!” Helen looked at the girl next to her [Megan]. “Your phone.. And wallet..Give them your phone and wallet!”

Number One squatted down to look at the blonde, while saying in a loud voice for all to hear. “It is appears we have a communication issue.” Staring at the blonde from behind his mask , “Number Four.” His gazed locked pointedly at the blond as he spoke to Four, “Pick a target.”

The masked figure known as Four, raised his AR 15, sited his target and pulled the trigger. A male customer across from the blond, took a shot to the thigh. Number one looked over his shoulder at the now wounded customer who was groaning from the wound, then back to the blond. “Phone and wallet. Now, or someone else gets shot.”
Death of NPC - Failed
“Wait!” Helen beseeched, “She’s scared! Just.. relax!” She said more to calm herself than anyone else. Helen spotted the bulge in the girl’s pocket. “Here..” Helen reached into the pocket, and took out the bulge, which turned out to be a phone. She slid it across the floor to him. Then she mouthed, “I’m sorry…” to the blond.

The bank manager hurriedly collected all the cells and wallets, while Number One was still by the blond. He held the bag out to Number One, not really wanting to become a casualty. Because Number One had focused on the blond, he missed the fact that a male had not turned over his wallet, and the manager wasn’t about to inform him.
Notice lack of wallet - fail
In the back offices, figures known as Three and Five found people hiding. Three headed back with them to the lobby area, while Five continued their search. A moment later, Five found a female (Romeo) hiding under a desk. Motioning with the weapon, the figure indicated that she needed to crawl out and head to the lobby.
Find Romeo - Succeeded
Once everyone was collected from the back offices, Number One nodded toward the conference room. “Everyone in the conference room. Everyone.. Except.. You.. and you..” He pointed at Mona and Amalea. While Three and Five were forcing customers into the conference room, One motioned the two females to the vault, which had not been shut for the night. “Inside..” He tossed each a bag, “start filling them.”

The conference room had been the staging center for the Spring Business Expo due to be held at the Groom Center later in the month. Posters, printers, and signs littered the conference room table, along with the items usually associated with setting a large expo. All the customers were herded into the room, except the two females, and the glass doors of the conference room shut and locked. Number Five was stationed outside the the conference room doors.

The trouble with being only partially deaf—notably, completely deaf in just one ear—was the lack of outward signs to alert others of her disability. It led to all manner of misunderstandings, which was what had, over the years, allowed her to get over her embarrassment and tell people off the bat what she had to work with. Honesty often facilitated situations, but Megan still found herself canting her head towards the speaker, gaze flitting in search of any additional information expression, posturing, and hand motions could provide.

In this particular scenario, the mask the robber was wearing was a great disservice. In addition to his lack of facial expressions, the commotion of panicked hostages combined with the continued ringing in her ear made the words aimed at her no easier to understand. Something about communication? More like miscommunication, ***********, she would’ve scoffed were her bladder not on the verge of giving out on her.

Her fingers curled into fists when someone was shot. Her eyes widening as she followed her immediate assailant’s gaze, over his shoulder. Had the victim done something? Had he tried to fight back or said something that’d sparked the robber’s anger? Megan glanced up at the masked robber crouched before her, realising that she was the reason that had happened.

His warning she understood—the adrenaline coursing through her body a boost to the system and heightening of her limited senses. The eventual quiet that fell after the shot allowed her to hear with newfound clarity too, but her gaze kept straying to the injured male.

Guilt addled her mind, and though she’d begun to reach towards her pocket for her phone, it was the bank employee next to her who retrieved and surrendered the device. Megan hazarded a glance at the masked man and retrieved the wallet from beneath her, sliding it across the floor before returning her hand to where it’d been, fingers splayed against the linoleum. The last thing she wanted was for someone else to get hurt because of her.

—-Which was exactly why she watched the nameless woman next to her for cues as the assailant moved away and bellowed another order.

Everyone was being escorted towards—well, she wasn’t sure. This wasn’t her usual branch. Pushing off the ground, Megan carefully swiped her debit card from beneath her thigh and tucked her hands into her now empty pockets. She cast a glance towards the man that’d been shot, and decided that helping him wouldn’t be worth a bullet of her own. Sure, she felt beyond guilty, but she hadn’t been the one to pull the trigger, and she had no doubt that if she strayed from the herd, she’d be on the receiving end of a trigger happy robber.

Megan filed into the conference room with the others, the skin of her knuckles white. Beneath the layers of clothes, her skin was beginning to harden protectively. Never had she succumbed to her powers in public, and so she made it a point of finding a spot as far away from the glass doors as possible. It was a matter of time before her visible skin—neck and face—took on an inhuman appearance.

Gideon did not like or care about people he had never met before, or knew. The guy getting shot, well...who cared? He didn't feel one way or another about it. ust relieved it hadn't been him who had gotten shot. Gideon focused on the problem(s) and not potential barriers for the problem(s) after giving the guy who had been shot a shrug of his shoulders. As if saying 'sorry, deal with it, man.' There were five of them, all different heights and weights. J He was looking towards the front door and other doors that might have a way out, when everyone was told to go into some room. Everyone but some redheaded woman, and...Mona?

What the **** was she doing here? Did she know he was here? And where was she going? He got up off the ground and started moving towards the conference room, eyes locked on his baby mama, hoping to get her attention. He winked at her, then slowly shook his head. He knew she cared about what was in her belly, but he also knew that she was a strong woman who had hormones raging in her. She would have to time things just right if she was going to do anything and that time was not right now.

The guys could have picked anyone in the room, but they picked his pregnant woman. Bunch of ******* cowards. Gideon personally didn't give a **** about the banks money either. It was all insured, and he had been planning on being a helpful participant and playing by their rules. Go in the conference room and wait it out. But then he had seen Mona and it was a game changer. He'd burn the building down and everyone else in it for his kin.

It would be all about tactics.
Gideon went to the conference room, appearing to be understanding and tolerant to what was going on. As soon as the glass doors were closed and locked, he got to work looking for stuff. He was only looking for one thing and one thing only. A scissors, stapler or even a stapler remover had to be here somewhere.

Mona's eyes fell on the redhead that was next to her that the pricks in the masks had singled out with her to clean out the Vault. **** her sideways if it wasn't the Amalea woman that she had interviewed at that vampire love fest a few months ago. This was going ******* fantastic not only was she Surrounded by a group of short tempered pricks She had a ******* blood thief that didn't necessarily give Mona the impression she was number one on her fan list.

The goons in the masks that looked as if they were GI Joe rejects Started to heard the rest of the bank staff and customers toward what Mona guessed was meeting rooms she caught sight of someone she had not expected to see. She drew in a sharp breath as she saw Gio Wink at her. She closed her eyes for a moment, she didn't quite feel so alone all of a sudden. Then moved toward the Vault not giving the goons any reason to get rough. The time for rough would come later when the odds had been evened out a bit ... after all Divide and conquer was always a good plan and the bank robbers couldn't keep a eye on ever single one of them now could they ?
